Chula Vista High School (CVHS) is a public high school located in Chula Vista, California. Founded in 1947, it is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District.

Options Secondary School (Commonly known as The Portal), is located in Chula Vista, California on the Chula Vista Adult School campus. It is run under the "Alternative Education" division of the Sweetwater Union High School District, which also runs the Independent Studies program. It has a small campus and a low ratio of students to teachers, in some cases, no more than twenty students in a class. The school operates on a bell schedule from 12:10 PM to 6:06 PM, with three periods a day. Period one is from 12:10 to 1:52, followed by a thirty minute lunch period. After this, second period begins at 2:27, and runs until 4:09. After a ten-minute passing period, period three finishes the school day, from 4:19 all the way to 6:06. The school opened with the original mission to cater to those with "individual learning styles", in keeping with its original name, "Sweetwater Academy for Individual Learning Styles." It was designed for those that didn't fit in at other schools, based upon learning plans. In May 2012, it was decided that the name of the school would be changed to "The Portal: A learning community", much to the chagrin of the students. Most students who have attended since before the 2012–2013 school year still refer to the school as "Sails". The district has tried several times to shut the school, to no avail. After Prop 32 passed in November 2012, the district received funds from taxes to upgrade and renovate campuses, as well as educational technologies. Some form of loophole prevented the school from acquiring grants that other campuses received.

The 1964 U.S. Women's Open was the 19th U.S. Women's Open, held July 9–12 at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, California. Hometown favorite Mickey Wright won her fourth and final U.S. Women's Open in an 18-hole playoff, two strokes ahead of runner-up Ruth Jessen, 70 to 72. At the 72nd hole on Saturday afternoon, Jessen birdied while Wright scrambled for par from a greenside bunker to force the Sunday playoff. Both players had San Diego ties, as Wright was born and raised in the area and Jessen was a resident of Bonsall.Jessen, originally of Seattle, was also a runner-up two years earlier in 1962. Wright, a Dallas resident, led (or co-led) after each of the five rounds to win the twelfth of her thirteen major titles. Defending champion Mary Mills finished in eleventh place.The championship was held the same week as the Open Championship in Scotland, which concluded on Friday. This was the last U.S. Women's Open to schedule the final two rounds for Saturday, the format since the USGA took over in 1953. In 1965, the final round was moved to Sunday, as it was from 1947 through 1952.

The San Diego Country Club is a private golf club in Chula Vista, California. The club, which features an 18-hole golf course with a par of 72, was founded in 1897.In addition to a golf course, the club also organizes special events such as weddings, graduation parties and birthdays. The country club also hosts business meetings. The golf course was designed in 1921 by the golf course architect Willie Watson and remodeled by William Francis Bell (Billy Bell Jr.) to add additional length and bunkering.

Chula Vista Center is an outdoor shopping mall in Chula Vista, California. Opened in 1962, it features Burlington Coat Factory, J. C. Penney, and Macy's, with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. It is owned and managed by Brookfield Properties Retail Group.

The Sweetwater Union High School District is a school district headquartered in Chula Vista, California. As of 2011, the school district is the largest secondary school district in California.The union high school district serves over 42,000 high school-aged students and over 32,000 adult learners. Located in the southwestern part of San Diego County between Southeast San Diego and the International Border with Mexico, the district serves the communities of Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City and the San Ysidro portion of San Diego. Sweetwater is one of the most ethnically and economically diverse districts in California. Approximately 87 percent of students belong to an ethnic minority group and over 40 percent of students qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Overseen by a five-member Board of Trustees, the district operates 14 high schools (11 regular, two alternative, one charter); 11 middle schools; 4 Adult schools; a regional occupational program (ROP); and special education. The district has earned recognition for its "Compact for Success" program, a deal made with San Diego State University that guarantees Sweetwater graduates admission to the university if they meet certain requirements all throughout their high school career.

Hilltop High School (formerly Hilltop Senior High) is a four-year public high school located in Chula Vista, California and is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD). The school colors are kelly green, white, and black. The school mascot is the "Lancer". Hilltop boasts the magnet program Foreign Language and Global Studies (FLAGS) as well as the Academies of Hospitality and Tourism (H&T), Information Technology (IT) programs, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Music Technology, Televideo, and Ballet Folklorico. For the 2007–08 school year, former Montgomery Middle School principal Ernesto Zamudio took over as principal for Hilltop High School and replaced the retiring Jerry Rindone. As of 2020, Karen Hernandez is the principal of Hilltop High. who had served Hilltop since 1997. Rindone is currently serving as a member of the San Diego County Board of Education

The Chula Vista City Hall is the seat of the government of the city of Chula Vista, California. The city hall was built in 1923 on Third Avenue in the recently incorporated city, and it served the city until it was replaced by a new structure in 1951. The city hall initially also served as the headquarters for the fire and police departments. It houses the five members of City Council, which includes the mayor.

The Vogue Theater is a historic movie theater in downtown Chula Vista, California. It was designed by the Architect Frank Hope Jr. in 1943, and opened on January 19, 1945. The theater is a poured in place concrete building and seats 825. Due to its configuration and stage, the theater has been a venue for several Chula Vista and San Diego political debates by the likes of former San Diego City Mayor Roger Hedgecock, and current Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox.The Vogue Theater operated as a single screen theater for 61 until it closed in 2006. The Vogue Theater was denominated as historical resource by the City for Chula Vista in 2011. On February 20, 2014, Amorphica Design Research Office received permits by the City of Chula Vista to restore and renovate The Vogue Theater back to its original state with other uses to the building.

H Street station is a station on the Blue Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the city of Chula Vista, California. The stop serves both as a commuter center with a park and ride lot and as an access point to the nearby dense retail and large residential areas. It also provides access to nearby Southwestern Community College by way of the 709 bus.

Palomar Street station is a station on the Blue Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the city of Chula Vista, California. The stop serves a variety of purposes, holding the function of commuter center with a park and ride lot and providing access to the nearby commercial, industrial, and residential areas, as well as Southwestern Community College.

The Chula Vista Bayfront is a planned development on the San Diego Bay waterfront within Chula Vista, California, United States. The bayfront is undergoing major development under the project title Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan, one of the largest waterfront planning efforts in the United States.
