Stonnall is a large village in Staffordshire, England, close to Shenstone, Brownhills, Walsall Wood and Aldridge. It is divided into Upper Stonnall, Stonnall and Lower Stonnall — Upper Stonnall partly lies in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall; the remainder of the village is in the district of Lichfield. The village is closely associated with the hamlets of Hilton, Lynn and Thornes. It has a population of 1,546 residents.

Castle Old Fort is a small Iron Age hill fort in Stonnall, in the Metropolitan borough of Walsall, West Midlands, England. Its interior is now occupied by a house. The structure is a promontory fort in that it is situated on the southern side of Castle Hill, presumably enabling its occupiers to overlook the southern approach of the ancient highway, Chester Road. The fort covers 3.5 acres (1.4 ha) acres in an ovoid shape, measuring 170 m (560 ft) from north to south and 130 m (430 ft) from east to west. It has an earth rampart surrounded by a ditch, with an entrance in the south east. There is some evidence that there may originally have been a second line of defences comprising a bank and a ditch. The seventeenth century archaeologist Robert Plot reported findings of flint arrowheads, Roman pottery and Roman coins of Otho, Domitian and Nero, and the existence of a second entrance in the north west of the fort, in an area that has since been destroyed by quarrying.

Lynn is a hamlet in the Lichfield District in Staffordshire, England. It is located close to the towns of Aldridge and Brownhills. The hamlet is in Shenstone parish, close to the villages of Shenstone, Stonnall and Mill Green. The hamlet also lies close to the Staffordshire/West Midlands County border near Brownhills and Aldridge.

Footherley is a hamlet in the Lichfield District in Staffordshire, England. It is located close to the village of Shenstone and town of Sutton Coldfield. The hamlet is in Shenstone parish, close to the villages of Shenstone, Stonnall and Mill Green. The hamlet also lies close to the Staffordshire/West Midlands County border near Sutton Coldfield.

Mill Green is a small village that straddles the borders of the Lichfield District and Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in both Staffordshire and West Midlands County, England. The village is located close to the towns of Aldridge, Brownhills and Sutton Coldfield as well as the villages of Walsall Wood, Stonnall, Little Aston and Streetly. The Walsall parts are unparished, while the Lichfield parts are within the civil parish of Shenstone.

Chesterfield is a hamlet in the civil parish of Wall, in the Lichfield district, in the county of Staffordshire, England.

The Lichfield Canal Aqueduct is a potentially navigable aqueduct over the M6 Toll Motorway, just to the west of Lichfield and north of Birmingham, England. The aqueduct is unwatered; it was constructed at the same time as the motorway in anticipation of the restoration of the Lichfield Canal.

The Shire Oak Academy (formerly Shire Oak School and Shire Oak Grammar School) is a coeducational academy school (age range 11–18) in Walsall Wood, West Midlands, England. More recently, the name was changed to Shire Oak Academy.[1] Originally a leading grammar school, along with many other secondary schools in the West Midlands Shire Oak became a comprehensive school in 1970, merging at the time with Walsall Wood Secondary Modern School.

Muckley Corner is a small village and area of Hammerwich in Lichfield District of Staffordshire, England. The area is located on the A5 (Watling Street). It is on the border of the boroughs of Walsall and Lichfield.

The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork yet found. It consists of almost 4,600 items and metal fragments, amounting to a total of 5.1 kg (11 lb) of gold, 1.4 kg (3 lb) of silver and some 3,500 pieces of garnet cloisonné jewellery. It is described by the historian Cat Jarman as "possibly the finest collection of early medieval artefacts ever discovered".The hoard was most likely deposited between 650–675 CE, and contains artefacts probably manufactured during the 6th and 7th centuries. It was discovered in 2009 in a field near the village of Hammerwich, near Lichfield, in Staffordshire, England. The location was in the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia at the time of the hoard's deposition. The hoard is of "radical" importance in Anglo-Saxon archaeology. The artefacts are nearly all martial in character and contain no objects specific to use by women.: 9  The average quality of the workmanship is extremely high and especially remarkable in view of the large number of individual objects, such as swords and a helmet, from which many of the fragments in the hoard came. The hoard was purchased jointly by the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery for GB£3.285 million under the Treasure Act 1996.

St. Mary's Church is the parish church of Aldridge, a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, England. It is operated by the Church of England. The church is grade-II* listed. Records show that it was built before 1257. Other than the 14th-century tower, all the exterior walls were added or rebuilt between the years 1841–1853. A south vestry was added in 1975. Between 1991 and 1995, the pews and choir stalls were removed.The church has two medieval effigies, of Sir Robert de Stapleton (active c. 1282–1301), lord of the Manor of Great Barr and Aldridge; and of a 14th-century priest, possibly Roger de Elyngton.The church's historic records are held at Staffordshire Record Office.Aldridge's war memorial stands on the green next to the church. The current Rector is the Revd Steve Doel. A 1955 painting of the church by the then Rector, the Rev Ronald William Cartmel, is in the collection of The New Art Gallery Walsall.

Walsall was a rural district in Staffordshire, England from 1894 to 1934. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 based on Walsall rural sanitary district, and included the five parishes of Aldridge, Bentley, Great Barr, Pelsall and Rushall. Four of these parishes were to the east of Walsall, and Bentley was to the west, forming an exclave. It was subject to increased urban development in the early 20th century and was abolished in 1934 under a County Review Order. The parish of Bentley was split between the urban district of Darlaston and the parish of Short Heath (which itself was becoming part of the Willenhall urban district), while the rest of the rural district became the Aldridge urban district, and since 1974 has formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in the metropolitan county of West Midlands.
