Dunbar High School (East Spencer, North Carolina)

The North Carolina Transportation Museum is a museum in Spencer, North Carolina. It is a collection of automobiles, aircraft, and railway vehicles. The museum is located at the former Southern Railway's 1896-era Spencer Shops and devotes much of its space to the state's railroad history. The museum has the largest collection of rail relics in the Carolinas. Its Back Shop building of nearly three stories high is most notable for its size of two football fields long.

The Southern Railway Spencer Shops are a former locomotive repair facility in Spencer, North Carolina. The shops were one of the Southern Railway's primary maintenance facilities. The shops were built in the 1890s and named after Southern Railway president Samuel Spencer. Following dieselization, the need for the Spencer Shops diminished, and the facilities were decommissioned in the 1970s. The Spencer Shops and associated land were donated by the Southern Railway to the state of North Carolina, which established the North Carolina Transportation Museum on the site.

North Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 123 contributing buildings in predominantly residential section of Salisbury. It largely developed between about 1900 and 1930, and includes notable examples of Late Victorian, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the Henderlite-Kluttz House, Hines-Norman House, J. R. Crawford House, A. G. Peeler House, Davis-Wilhelm House, Salisbury-Spencer Railway Company's streetcar barn, Trexler-McSwain Store, Barringer and Rufty General Store, and the North Main Street School, now known as the John S. Henderson School.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

John Steele House, also known as Lombardy, is a historic plantation house in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. It was built between 1799 and 1801 and is a two-story, three-bay, side hall plan, Federal style frame dwelling. It has a side gable roof and a one-story shed roof porch and is sheathed with beaded weatherboards. The house was restored between 1977 and 1983. It was the home of North Carolina politician John Steele (1764-1815).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Spencer Historic District is a national historic district located at Spencer, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 242 contributing buildings in the central business district and surrounding residential sections of Spencer. It largely developed between about 1902 and 1937, and includes notable examples of Queen Anne style architecture. Notable buildings include Cooke's Drug Store (c. 1902), the Julian Building (c. 1902), Wachovia-First National Bank Building (1903), Arey Building (1908), First Baptist Church (1926), Presbyterian Church (1903). Central Methodist Church (1921), Spencer Library (1913), Spencer Town Hall (1937), the John Hatley House (1901), and the Morrison House (c. 1910).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Kesler Manufacturing Co.–Cannon Mills Co. Plant No. 7 Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 109 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure consisting of a complex of industrial buildings and mill dwellings. It largely developed between about 1895 and 1930, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Notable buildings include the Kesler Manufacturing Company/Cannon Mills complex (1895–1930), Kepley–Trexler House, Henry–Kesler Manufacturing Company House (1910), Kimball–Kesler Mill House (1916), and Morgan–Kesler Manufacturing Company House (1914).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

North Long Street–Park Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 46 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Salisbury. It was developed largely between about 1890 and 1925, and includes notable examples of Gothic Revival, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.Notable buildings include the McCubbins-McCanless-Clark House (c. 1890), Misenhimer-Rufty House (1904), D.C. Bradshaw House, Ellington-Brown House, Coggin-Ludwig House, and Park Ave United Methodist Church (1916).

Salisbury Township is one of fourteen townships in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 28,594 according to the 2000 census and is currently the most populous township in Rowan County. Geographically, Salisbury Township occupies 30.64 square miles (79.4 km2) in central Rowan County. Large portions of the city of Salisbury, the county seat of Rowan County are located in the township. In addition, the towns of Spencer, East Spencer, and a small portion of the town Granite Quarry are located in Salisbury Township. The township's northern border is formed by the Yadkin River.

East Spencer is a town in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,534 at the 2010 census. Originally called "Southern City" because of significance of the railway to the area, it was incorporated in 1901 as East Spencer. It was named for the Spencer shops that opened in the area in 1896.

Grimes Mill was located at 600 N. Church St. in Salisbury, North Carolina. It was built in 1896 as a flour and feed mill. It stayed active until 1982. The Historic Salisbury Foundation bought it that year and later turned it into a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was the only roller mill museum in North Carolina. The site was destroyed by fire on January 16, 2013.

Salisbury Railroad Corridor Historic District is a national historic district located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 37 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site consisting primarily of railroad-related and commercial buildings. It largely developed during the first half of the 20th century, and includes notable examples of Mission Revival style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Salisbury Southern Railroad Passenger Depot designed by Frank Pierce Milburn. Other notable buildings include the Cheerwine/Carolina Beverage Corporation Building (1913), Yadkin Hotel (1913), Frick Building (c. 1905), Boyden-Overman Company Cotton Warehouse (c. 1910), and Old Freight Depot (c. 1907).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, with a boundary increase in 2003.

Mount Zion Baptist Church is a historic African-American Baptist church located at 413 N. Church Street in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. The sanctuary was built in 1907, and is a red brick Gothic Revival style building. It features stained glass lancet windows and small triangular shaped windows and former towers capped by octagonal conical roofs. A brick-veneered educational/manse wing added between 1913 and 1920.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
