The Villa Widmann, also called Widmann-Rezzonico-Foscari, is a villa at the shores of the river Brenta located in the small town of Mira, between Venice and Padua. The present palace was built in the 18th century. A succession of families including the Sceriman, Donà, Foscari, had previously owned the site. The present palace was apparently designed and built in 1719 by Alessandro (?...Andrea) Tirali, a Venetian architect. The Widmanns commissioned the internal frescoes mainly by Giuseppe Angeli, a pupil of Giambattista Piazzetta, and Gerolamo Mengozzi Colonna, who worked with Tiepolo. The Villa is surrounded by cypress and horse-chestnut trees, and gardens interspersed by several stone statues of gods, nymphs and cupids. A barchessa (a protruding arcade wing usually functioning as storage sheds or stables) and a small church, where Elisabetta and Arianna Widmann are buried, are also part of the Villa's buildings.

Villa Foscari is a patrician villa in Mira, near Venice, northern Italy, designed by the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. It is also known as La Malcontenta ("The Discontented"), a nickname which—according to a legend—it received when the spouse of one of the Foscaris was locked up in the house because she allegedly did not live up to her conjugal duty.

Venezia Mestre railway station (Italian: Stazione di Venezia Mestre) is a junction station in the comune of Venice, Italy. It is located within the mainland frazione of Mestre, and is classified by its owner, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, as a gold category station.The station is situated at the 257.907 kilometres (160.256 mi) mark of the Milan–Venice line, and at the 27.778 kilometres (17.260 mi) mark of the Adria–Mestre line. It is also the point of origin of other lines that converge towards Venice as the capital of the region Veneto. Additionally, the station forms the border between the boroughs of Mestre and Marghera, that are connected by the two underpasses of the station, one just for pedestrians and the other for both pedestrians and cyclists. Venezia Mestre is one of Venice's two most important railway stations, the other one being Venezia Santa Lucia, a terminal station on the island of Venice. Both stations are managed by Grandi Stazioni, and they are linked with each other by the Ponte della Libertà (English: Liberty Bridge) between the mainland and the island. While Venezia Santa Lucia station's main doors are usually closed at night, Venezia Mestre station is always open and people can pass by also at night, to get on one of the few night trains or to use the underpasses between Mestre and Marghera (shops and ticket offices are usually closed at night). Late night or early morning trains might stop at Venezia Mestre station if the Venezia Santa Lucia station is closed at such time. In that case, passengers directed to/coming from the Historical Center of Venice they should use the 24/7 ACTV bus service (lines 2 and H1) from Piazzale Roma to Venezia Mestre station and vice versa.

On 3 October 2023, a bus crash occurred in Marghera, Venice, Italy. A coach carrying 40 passengers fell from an overpass, killing 21 people and injuring 18. The accident happened while the bus was en route from Venice's historic center to a campsite in Marghera. Witnesses reported the bus scraping along the guardrail before breaking through and falling about 15 metres, catching fire upon impact. The flyover had been in need of repairs since 2016, with work beginning only in September 2023.

Administratively, Mestre forms (together with the nearby Carpenedo) the Municipalità di Mestre-Carpenedo, one of the six boroughs or districts of the comune. Sometimes it is considered as a frazione. With 88,552 (2019) inhabitants, Mestre is the most populated urban centre of the comune. The population of the borough of Mestre-Carpenedo is 89,373 (2010).

Fusina hydrogen power station was a hydrogen-fueled power station located in Fusina, near Venice in the Veneto region of Italy. It was the first commercial-scale power station in the world that was fueled with pure hydrogen. The power station was operated by Enel.The plant only produced energy for less than two years and was decommissioned in 2018.The Fusina project was launched in 2004. Construction of the power station started in April 2008 and it became operational in August 2009. It was inaugurated on 12 July 2010. The plant is located adjacent to the Andrea Palladio Power Station. Fusina hydrogen power station has an installed capacity of 12 MW. An additional 4 MW could be generated in the Andrea Palladio Power Station through the reuse of steam produced by the hydrogen-fueled turbine. The power station is equipped by a General Electric combined-cycle gas engine.The hydrogen is provided from Versalis cracker, and the adjacent petrochemical facility of Porto Marghera.According to Fulvio Conti, CEO of Enel until May 2014, power produced at the Fusina hydrogen power station is 5–6 times more expensive than conventional electricity.

The Venice Tramway (Italian: Tranvia di Venezia) is a rubber-tired tramway (or guided bus) system forming part of the public transport system in Venice, Favaro Veneto, Mestre and Marghera, three boroughs of the city and comune of Venice, northeast Italy. Since 2015, the tramway is connected to Piazzale Roma (the main bus station) in Venice. The tramway uses Translohr rubber-tyred trams.
