Bahan Township (Burmese: ဗဟန်း မြို့နယ်, pronounced [bəháɰ̃ mjo̰nɛ̀]) is located in the north central part of Yangon. The township comprises 22 wards, and shares borders with Yankin Township and Mayangon Township in the north, Sanchaung Township and Kamayut Township in the west, Tamwe Township in the east, and Dagon Township and Mingala Taungnyunt Township in the south. Bahan is one of the most prosperous townships in Yangon. Shwetaunggya (formerly, Golden Valley), Sayarsan Road and Inya Myaing are three of Yangon's most exclusive neighborhoods.

Kamayut District (Burmese: ကမာရွတ်ခရိုင်) is a District in Yangon Region, Myanmar. It is a township of Yangon and contains two townships. The district was created in 2022, being one of the new districts created from the former West Yangon District.

Ngahtatgyi Buddha Temple (Burmese: ငါးထပ်ကြီးဘုရားကြီး) is a Buddhist temple in Bahan Township, Yangon, Burma, located off Shwegondine Road. A distinct five-tiered pagoda houses the original 20.5 feet (6.2 m) high Buddha image was donated by Prince Minyedeippa in 1558. A Buddha statue, 45.5 feet (13.9 m) on a pedestal, 30 feet (9.1 m) high and 46 feet (14 m) wide was erected at the temple in 1900.

Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple (Burmese: ခြောက်ထပ်ကြီးဘုရားကြီး) is the most well-known Buddhist temple in Bahan Township, Yangon, Yangon Region, Myanmar. It houses one of the most revered reclining Buddha images in the country. The Buddha image is 66 metres (217 ft) long, and one of the largest in Burma.The construction was sponsored by a wealthy Burmese Buddhist, Sir Po Tha, in 1899. The image was completed in 1907 by another construction company, but was not proportioned correctly, and the Buddha's face had an aggressive expression.In the 1950s, the old Buddha image was demolished and temple trustees began work to replace the image, under the supervision of U Thaung, a master craftsman from Tavoy (now Dawei). Large glass eyes with dimensions of 1.77 by .58 metres (5 ft 10 in × 1 ft 11 in) were custom-created at Naga Glass Factory. The Buddha image was consecrated in 1973.

The Rangoon bombing of 9 October 1983, was an assassination attempt against Chun Doo-hwan, the fifth president of South Korea, in Rangoon, Burma. The attempt was orchestrated by North Korea. Although Chun survived, 21 people died in the attack and 46 were injured. One suspect was later killed, and the two other suspected bombers were captured, one of whom confessed to being a North Korean military officer.

The Martyrs' Mausoleum (Burmese: အာဇာနည်ဗိမာန်) is a Mausoleum in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), located near the northern gate of Shwedagon Pagoda. The mausoleum is dedicated to Aung San and other leaders of the pre-independence interim government, all of whom were assassinated on 19 July 1947. It is customary for high-ranking government officials to visit the mausoleum on 19 July to pay respects, and 19 July was designated as Martyrs' Day, a public holiday.

Fushan Temple (Chinese: 福山寺; pinyin: Fúshān Sì; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Hok-san-sī; Burmese: ကုက္ကိုင်းဘုရားကျောင်း; also called Fu Shan Si or Fu Sun Si), located on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road in Bahan Township, Yangon, is a Chinese temple founded in January 1875 by overseas Chinese descended from Hoklo people of Anxi County, Fujian. The temple is managed by Kheng Hock Keong in downtown Yangon. Fushansi is dedicated to a deified Chinese Buddhist monk known as Master Qingshui or Chó·-su-kong in Hokkien (Chinese: 祖師公, also known as Qingshui Zushi) and the temple was restored in 2008. Fu Shan Temple attracts many devotees especially during Chinese New Year and Master Qingshui's Birthday. The temple-tender, Mr. Yang, who said that he took part in its renovation in 1960, has managed the temple for many years. The temple compound includes a restaurant and a basketball court. There is also a small artificial body of water in the center of the compound, right in front of the entrance to the temple. The compound has become more of a Chinese park rather than a center of worship. The surrounding area includes traditional Chinese sculptures and architectural designs. There are also circular Chinese balconies with their stone-made tables and stools. Beside one of the balconies, there are statues from the Chinese zodiac and miniature versions of a Chinese bridge and tower.

54 University Avenue is a house in Bahan Township, Yangon. It is the residence of Aung San Suu Kyi, a Burmese politician and former State Counsellor of Myanmar. The house is situated on the University Avenue Road, adjacent to Inya Lake.
