Charles W. Orton House

The Alderton School was built in 1915, the two-story brick schoolhouse and brick gymnasium reflect the second period of rural school development in the county. The buildings are among the few extant properties associated with the development of Alderton, and one of only two rural school buildings remaining in Central Pierce County.

It is one of two high schools in the Sumner–Bonney Lake School District, which serves Sumner and the neighboring city of Bonney Lake. The high school's athletic teams are named the Spartans. They are members of the South Puget Sound League and classified as a 4A school.

The Ryan House is a historic building in Sumner, Washington, United States that is now used as a museum. The house was built by Fred Seaman as a one-room cabin. In 1872, George Ryan bought the property. He added onto the house in 1875 and 1885. In 1926, Ryan's family donated the property to the town of Sumner for use as the Sumner Public Library. The building housed the library from 1926 to 1979, and now houses the Sumner Historical Society, which operates the house as the Ryan House Museum.

Sumner station is a train station in the city of Sumner, Washington, United States. It is served by Line S, a Sounder commuter rail line operated by Sound Transit. The station is located to the southwest of downtown Sumner and includes two platforms, a bus station, and 302 parking spaces. Commuter train service to Sumner began in September 2000 at a temporary station, while the permanent facility opened on March 10, 2001. Parking at the station is expected to expand to over 600 stalls in 2021, after the completion of a new parking garage and pedestrian bridge.

The Foothills Trail is a mostly paved non-motorized rail-trail in east Pierce County, Washington, extending uninterrupted for 21 miles (34 km) from Puyallup, Washington through Orting and South Prairie, and terminating in Buckley. The trail is used by cyclists, walkers, joggers, inline skaters, and horse riders. Listed as Foothills Regional Trail, it was designated a National Recreation Trail in 2012.

The Stuck River in Washington state is a former small stream turned distributary and later final course of the White River, near Auburn to the Puyallup River at Sumner. The river's name comes from the Lushootseed word /stéq/, "log jam", or /stəx̣/, "gouged through", or "plowed through".Throughout the late 19th century, farmers in the valley attempted various flood control efforts that eventually allowed the White River to partially flow into the Stuck River in 1899. In 1906, a great flood diverted the White River's entire flow into the Stuck River. The entire length of the former Stuck is now considered the final reach of the White River, though the Stuck River name still appears on many maps, in local place names, and in legal descriptions of property near the river.

The White River is a white, glacial river in the U.S. state of Washington. It flows about 75 miles (121 km) from its source, the Emmons Glacier on Mount Rainier, to join the Puyallup River at Sumner. It defines part of the boundary between King and Pierce counties.

The Skystone is an andesite glacial erratic boulder in Bonney Lake, Washington. The boulder was deposited approximately 13,000 years ago. The stone's height and width are 4.5 by 12 feet (1.4 m × 3.7 m).

Cascade Christian Schools (CCS) is a district of private schools in Pierce County, Washington, United States. They are three elementary school campuses in (Puyallup, Frederickson, and the Sumner-Orting Valley) three early learning centers, and a junior high/high school, providing Christ-centered education for approximately 1700 students. Their motto is "To glorify God by providing an excellent Christ-centered education dedicated to developing discerning leaders who are spiritually, personally, and academically prepared to impact their world".

The McMillin School is a historic school building in McMillin, Washington, United States. It was constructed in 1922 to replace a frame one-room schoolhouse and served the area until 1960. It is the only remaining structure from the community of McMillin. Along with the Alderton School, they are the last of the rural public schools in central Pierce County. The McMillin School remains in its original location in a setting similar to that of its active years. The building itself has not been changed and the materials reflect a rural public school of the early 20th century.
