Kitzbühel Alps

The Kleiner Rettenstein is a 2,216-metre-high (7,270 ft) mountain in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It lies in the Kitzbühel Alps, roughly east of its larger brother, the Großer Rettenstein.

The Großer Rettenstein is a mountain with multiple peaks in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria. The main summit reaches a height of 2,362 m (AA) Although not the highest mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps (that honour goes to the Kreuzjoch at 2,558 m above sea level (AA)), the Großer Rettenstein is the most striking in this range of otherwise gentle grass-covered mountains. It also has a mighty, craggy, summit block made of limestone, four hundred metres high, that stands atop base of grauwacke and primary rock (Urgestein - quartz phyllite). The Rettenstein is the dominating peak of the Spertental valley. Its isolated location also makes the summit an outstanding viewing point and it is therefore a popular destination. To the north the Rettenstein sends a long ridge out to the Spiessnägel, that separates the oberer Grund and unterer Grund.

Bramberg am Wildkogel is a municipality in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the state of Salzburg, Austria. The town lies at the south foot of the 2,225-metre (7,300 ft) high Wildkogel mountain. The town's average elevation is 819 metres (2,687 ft).

Mühlbach im Pinzgau is a village and a cadastral parish (Katastralgemeinde) within the municipality of Bramberg am Wildkogel. The village lies within Zell am See District in the western part of the Austrian state of Salzburg.

The Wildkogel is a 2,224-metre (7,297 ft) high grass mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Oberpinzgau in Salzburg. It lies north of the Salzach river valley and the nearby towns of Neukirchen and Bramberg. At 2,005 metres (6,578 ft) high, the Wildkogelhaus (built in 1898) can host up to 100 guests (with restaurants, sauna and disco). Here begins a 14-kilometre (8.7 mi) long toboggan run. During the winter, there is a large ski area with 55 kilometres (34 mi) of groomed ski trails, 45% blue, 40% red and 15% black. The highest lift takes passengers to 2,150 metres (7,050 ft). There is a 6-seater cable car with a stopover, a six-chairlift, two four-chair lifts, one double chairlift, five lift-e and four T-bar lifts. Descents are possible into the towns of Neukirchen (1,300 m or 4,300 ft, length 5 km or 3.1 mi) and Bramberg (length 14 km or 8.7 mi). On the mountain, at 200 kilometres (120 mi) is the longest trail ("Pinzga") to be found in the Salzburg state. In the summer season, there are many hiking possibilities (altitude hiking). The Wildkogel offers cycling for mountain bikes ( "Bike-Arena"), and also the participants of the yearly held Transalp have to cross. The mountain is also a popular starting point for cross-country flights with the paraglider, as the Pinzgau is thermally very reliable.

Weyer Castle (German: Burgruine Weyer) is a ruined castle in Bramberg am Wildkogel, Salzburg, Austria.

The Brechhorn is a 2,032 m above sea level (AA) high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria. It lies between the valleys of the Aschauer Ache and the Windau.

The Spertental is a southern side valley of the Brixental located in Tyrol, Austria. The valley, which is 8 km in length, unites with the Brixental near Kirchberg in Tirol (837 m). The Aschauer Ache flows through Spertental. The landscape is surrounded by great, smooth mountains. The highest summits, the Großer Rettenstein and (2,366 m) and Kleiner Rettenstein (2,216 m), as well as smaller peaks, form a protective wall around the valley. The Aschauer Ache rises at the foot of the Großer Rettenstein and then flows to Kirchberg, continuing to Reith bei Kitzbühel before discharging into the Kitzbühler Ache near St. Johann in Tirol. The main settlement in the valley is Aschau im Spertental. The little village has around 100 inhabitants. The hamlet has its own parish church, the Holy Cross of Christ (Heiliger Kreuz Christi), its own school and a community hall. It also has its own band. Near Aschau the Spertental branches into the Oberengrund and Unterengrund; beyond these bottleneck valley is the Pinzgau region.

Neukirchen am Großvenediger is a market town in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the state of Salzburg in Austria. Neukirchen is at an altitude of 856 meters and its population (as of May 2001) is 2,616.

The Windautal is a southern side valley of the Tyrolean Brixental in the Kitzbühel Alps in Austria with a length of about 16 km. The valley is lies almost entirely within the territory of the parish of Westendorf; only its northernmost part lies in Hopfgarten. To the south the valley borders on the state of Salzburg. To the north - near Hopfgarten (623 m) - the Windautal and Brixental valleys merge. The stream of the Windauer Ache flows through the Windau and discharges into the Brixentaler Ache. In the 16th and 17th centuries, copper, galena and pyrites were mined in the valley. The Windautal is a popular recreation area and a particularly good for ski tours, hiking, mountain biking and cycling. The route through the valley along the lower reaches of the Windauer Ache is part of the "Kaiser Circuit (Kaiser-Runde), a long distance circular cycleway that starts and ends in Kufstein. The Windauer Ache is also popular with whitewater canoeists (grade WW II to WW V). The southern part of the valley is only accessible by car over a toll road (partly unmetalled) and is very sparsely settled. The Salzburg-Tyrol Railway runs along the slopes and through several tunnels of the lower (northern) Windautal, where, in the middle of a curve, a bridge spans the valley. On the northeastern perimeter of the valley is the halt of "Windau". This so-called Windauer Schleife ("Windau Curve"), which is used to gain height in the valley and is very scenic, is a popular photographic theme with railway photographers. The landscape of the valley is characterised by wooded mountains and numerous alpine meadows (Almen). Above the tree line the open slopes are used as grazing pasture for sheep, goats, cows and horses. The Windau is surrounded by a large number of peaks, most of them over 2,000 metres high. Important mountains are the Steinbergstein (2,215 m), the Kröndlhorn (2,444 m) and the Brechhorn (2,032 m).

Kirchberg in Tirol is a municipality in the Austrian state of Tyrol in the Kitzbühel district. It is located 6 km (4 mi.) west of Kitzbühel. It is also a village.
