Kestner Tenement

The Bentowski Tenement (Polish: Kamienica Bentkowskiego) is a four-storey neoclassical tenement house in Warsaw, Poland, located at 49 New World Street, within the neighbourhood of North Downtown. It was originally built in the early 1820s, and was later rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries. Currently, it housed the seat of the Polish Economic Society. The building is included on a heritage list.

The Royal Route (Polish: Trakt Królewski, IPA: [ˈtrakt kruˈlɛfskʲi]) in Warsaw, Poland, is a former communication route that led southward from the city's Old Town. It now comprises a series of connecting Warsaw streets that feature a number of historic landmarks. The Royal Route begins at Warsaw's Castle Square and runs south down Krakowskie Przedmieście (Kraków Suburb Street), ulica Nowy Świat (New World Street), Aleje Ujazdowskie (Ujazdów Avenue), ulica Belwederska (Belweder Street) and ulica Sobieskiego (Sobieski Street), finally to arrive at Wilanów (King Jan III Sobieski's personal residence). The route, with other portions of Warsaw Old Town, is one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii) as designated September 16, 1994. Its listing is maintained by the National Heritage Board of Poland.

Kubusia Puchatka Street (Polish: ulica Kubusia Puchatka) is a street in Warsaw, Poland named after Winnie-the-Pooh, known in Polish translations as Kubuś Puchatek. It was built in the first half of the '50s, where the ruins of annexes’ buildings used to stand. The street is 149 metres (489 ft) long, and in some parts it is 23 metres (75 ft) wide. It is intended to be a walking path to provide relief from crowds of the Nowy Świat Street. The whole street is built up with four-story buildings with shops on the ground floor. Two rows of lime trees transported from Szczecin were planted along the street in 1954. The street building's project is a work of architect Zygmunt Stepiṅski and architecture students from Politechnika Warszawska. The name of the street was chosen in the competition by readers of “Express Wieczorny” in 1954. On the north end of the street, next to its intersection with Świętokrzyska Street, is the Warsaw Metro station M2 Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet.

Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet is a station on the central part of Line M2 of the Warsaw Metro. The station fully opened for passenger use on 8 March 2015 as part of the inaugural stretch of Line M2 between Rondo Daszyńskiego and Dworzec Wileński. It was designed by Polish architect Andrzej M. Chołdzyński and constructed by Metroprojekt. Murals were created by Wojciech Fangor, artist of the Polish School of Posters. The station is near the intersection of Świętokrzyska and Nowy Świat Streets, as well as the location of the main campus of the University of Warsaw.

Nowy Świat (Polish pronunciation: [ˈnɔvɨ ˈɕfjat] (listen)), known in English as New World Street, is one of the main historic thoroughfares of Warsaw, Poland. It comprises part of the Royal Route (Trakt królewski) that extends from Warsaw's Royal Castle and Old Town, south to King John III Sobieski's 17th-century royal residence at Wilanów.

Zamoyski Palace (Polish: Pałac Zamoyskich) - a historical building, located by Nowy Świat Street in Warsaw, Poland. From 1667 the owner of the plot was Jan Wielopolski. Between 1744 and 1745 the inheritors of Wielopolski's possessions reconstructed the palace following designs of architect Piotr Hiż. The owner of the building soon became Franciszek Ksawery Branicki, who commissioned renovation work under Szymon Bogumił Zug.In 1802 the palace was bought by Anna Jadwiga Sapieżyna. Stanisław Staszic would live in the palace until he died there in 1826. In 1839 the palace became property of Andrzej Artur Zamoyski. The new owner commissioned reconstruction works headed by architect Enrico Marconi which gave the building's present nature. During the January Uprising of 1863, the house was plundered by the Imperial Army. During the interwar period the building housed the Ministry of Interior and Administration (Poland). The palace was damaged during the Warsaw Uprising and rebuilt between 1948 and 1950 without modifying its architectural design.Presently, the palace houses the Faculty of Journalism and Politics of the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Applied Social Sciences, "Artes-Liberales" Faculty, Institute for Scientific Information and Bibliographic Studies of the Historical Faculty of the University of Warsaw.

Śródmieście ([ɕrudˈmʲeɕt͡ɕe] meaning "city centre", "downtown") is the central borough (dzielnica) of the city of Warsaw. The best known neighbourhoods in the borough are the Old Town (Stare Miasto) and New Town (Nowe Miasto). The area is home to the most important national and municipal institutions, many businesses, higher education establishments (e.g. University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology and Medical Academy) and theatres. It is also home to most of the tourist attractions in Warsaw, including the tallest building in Warsaw (231 m),the narrowest street (5.3 m), the oldest university (est. 1809), the oldest public park (opened 1727), the oldest secular monument (1644) and the oldest historical building (13th century). The name is also colloquially used for Warszawa Śródmieście railway station.

The Siege of Warsaw took place between April 24 and July 1, 1656. Swedish Empire forces had occupied the Polish capital without fighting in early September 1655 (see Deluge (history)). In late April 1656, Poles and Lithuanians began the siege, with the purpose of recapturing their capital. They were successful, but later lost the city for a second time after a battle held on July 28–30, 1656 (see Battle of Warsaw (1656)).

Masovian Voivodeship (Polish: Województwo Mazowieckie) was an administrative region of the Kingdom of Poland, and of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, from the 1526 to the partitions of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (1795). Together with Płock and Rawa Voivodeships, it formed the province of Masovia. Its area was 23,200 km2., divided into ten lands (see ziemia). The seat of the voivode was Warsaw, local sejmiks also convened in Warsaw, at St. Martin's church.

The Capital City of Warsaw, simply known as Warsaw, was an independent city of Warsaw, that functioned as the voivodeship of Poland, from 1919 to 1939. In 1931, it had a population of 1 171 898, and the area of 123 km². It was an enclave surrounded by the Warsaw Voivodeship.

Warsaw I is a Polish parliamentary constituency in the Masovian Voivodeship. It elects twenty members of the Sejm.The district has the number '19' for elections to the Sejm, and is named after the country's capital city, Warsaw. It covers the city county of Warsaw.

The Warsaw metropolitan area (known in Polish as: Aglomeracja Warszawska) is the metropolitan area of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The metropolitan area covers ten counties in the Masovian Voivodeship, with an area of 6,100 km² and a population of around 3 million in 2019.The largest cities or towns within the metropolitan area are Warsaw, Pruszków, Legionowo, Otwock, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Piaseczno and Wołomin. Public transport in the metropolitan area is served by the Warsaw Transport Authority (Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego).
