St Mary's Church, Norwood Green

The M4 bus lane was a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) bus lane on the eastbound (London-bound) carriageway of the M4 motorway between Heathrow Airport and central London. It operated between junction 3 (A312) to the start of the elevated 2-lane section near Brentford. The lane, which had no intermediate junctions, was reserved for buses, coaches, motorbikes, emergency vehicles and licensed taxis (but not minicabs).It was positioned in Lane 3 on the motorway, causing bus drivers to switch lanes between 1 mile and 500 yards before the lane started. The lane opened as a pilot in June 1999 and was made permanent in 2001. It was suspended during December 2010 using an 18-month Experimental Traffic Order after which it was reinstated temporarily for the 2012 London Olympics. It has since been scrapped permanently.

Our Lady Queen of Apostles is a Catholic church in Heston in the London Borough of Hounslow. It is situated between The Green and Heston Road, opposite Rosary Catholic Primary School. It was built in the early 1960s, contains stained glass designed by Pierre Fourmaintraux and is in a local conservation area.

Norwood Green is a place in the London Borough of Ealing in London, England, that forms the southern part of Southall. It is a suburban development centred 10.7 miles (17.2 km) west of Charing Cross and 4 miles (6.4 km) ENE of Heathrow Airport. Its origin coincides with the 12th century arch in its chapel, the date when it is first recorded. Reflecting its mid-19th century agrarian nature it remained below church status in Hayes parish until 1859. It often lends its name to an electoral ward of around 12,500 people. It today forms the southern part of larger Southall, named after the main manor which lay in the north of its area which is south of Northolt parish. Informally Norwood Green overspills into part of Heston in the London Borough of Hounslow.

Heston Community School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form situated in Heston, London, England.It caters for a wide range of children aged between 11 and 19, including those with a hearing impairment.

Southall Railway Centre is a non-publicised railway heritage centre at Southall in west London, near to Southall railway station and the Grand Union Canal. Formerly of the Great Western Railway the site is now run partly by Locomotive Services and West Coast Railways, both of whom lease the site from Network Rail. The location is not open to the public. Until 2021, the Great Western Railway Preservation Group (GWRPG) leased part of the West Coast Railway section of the site for their own use.

Kismat Radio was a radio station broadcasting from the Crystal Palace Transmitter in south-east London.

Yarr Radio was a British music radio station aimed at a young Asian audience, which broadcast from 2003 until 2008 on digital radio in various regions of the United Kingdom, and on Sky Channel 187. Launched in 2003 by Indo-Canadian singer Jazzy B, it was called 'London's First Young Asian Hit Music Station'. The original presenters of 'Yaar Radio' were: Maya, Ranj Rekhi, Sonia Paneser, Danny Deol, Dee Singh, Kim Boss, Vinny Virdee (aka: Jas Rao or Jas 'The Man'), Ellia Khan (aka: Noreen Khan). The management had a policy of playing only Asian music, consisting of "the latest Bhangra and Bollywood mixes" and "the hottest urban, fusion and R&B".Part of the Sunrise Radio Group, it was based at Sunrise's headquarters in Southall, west London. On some frequencies it was replaced by Sunrise's Punjabi Radio.

It broadcasts to the Greater London area on 963/972 AM, nationally on DAB through the Sound Digital multiplex, and via the internet.According to RAJAR, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 477,000 listeners as of September 2023.

Amar Radio is a community radio channel, aimed at the Asian community. Based in Southall, London, it was launched on 27 June 2002 as Akash Radio.During May 2010, Akash Radio had a change of management with the name, imaging and content all undergoing a refresh. Akash Radio became known as Amar Radio. In December 2010, Jaswant Singh, the President of Southall's Miri Piri Gurdwara bought Amar Radio with plans to give the station an overhaul.Amar Radio is accessible via its website worldwide and features popular discussion, cultural, and bhangra shows. Amar Radio was available across the United Kingdom and Ireland from Sky Digital until 15 August 2011.The station has won two Asian award nominations for best radio station, and is a sponsor of shows and melas within the local community.

The Southall rail crash occurred on 19 September 1997, on the Great Western Main Line at Southall, West London. An InterCity 125 high speed passenger train (HST) failed to slow down in response to warning signals and collided with a freight train crossing its path, causing seven deaths and 139 injuries. The passenger train operating company had failed to inform Railtrack and the signaller that the automatic warning system (AWS), which warns drivers of adverse signals, had been turned off in the cab of the HST. As a result, the signaller set a route which would stop the HST and allow the freight train to cross in front of it. If the signaller had known that the AWS in the express was not working, he would have been prevented by the operating rules from setting a conflicting route. The HST driver did not apply the brakes until it was too late because he was packing his bag and did not see the cautionary signals. He was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, but the charges were later dropped. Great Western Trains, whose managing director survived the crash in one of the most badly affected carriages, was fined for failure to ensure that the HST had their automatic warning system working during long journeys.
