Leathley is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England, the parish includes the townships of both Castley and Leathley. It is near the border with West Yorkshire and the River Wharfe, 1 mile north-east of Otley. The B6161 runs through the village, connecting Leathley with Killinghall in the North and Pool-in-Wharfedale in the south. According to the 2011 census Leathley had a population of 181 people.In 1870–72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Leathley as: a village, a township, and a parish in Otley district, W. R. Yorkshire. The village stands on an affluent of the river Wharfe, 3 miles NW of Arthing. ton r. station, and 3 NE of Otley; and is. a picturesque place.Later in the 1880s Leathley was described by John Bartholomew as: 3 miles NE. of Otley – par., 2089 ac., pop. 237; township, 1565 ac., pop. 150; contains the seat of Leathley HallThe name Leathley originates from the old English meaning 'slope wood/clearing' referring to the rural nature of the landscape.

St Oswald's Church is the parish church of Leathley, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The church was built in the 12th century, from which period survive the tower, parts of the nave, and the chancel arch. The church was altered in about 1500. It was restored in 1869, the work including a new roof, new pews, and the addition of an organ. The building was grade I listed in 1966. The church is built of gritstone with a stone slat roof, and consists of a nave, north and south aisles, a south porch, a chancel with a north organ chamber and a south vestry, and a west tower. The tower is Norman, and has four stages. It is unbuttressed, and has quoins, slit windows in the middle stages, and above are round-arched bell openings and a pyramidal roof. The door at the west end of the nave has 12th-century iron hinges and decoration. There is also a piscina and several memorials.

Leathley Almshouses is a historic building in Leathley, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The almshouses were constructed in 1769, for Ann Hitch, with four apartments flanking a school room. In the 20th century, the school closed, and the entire building has since been used as almshouses. The building was grade II listed in 1966. The building is constructed of gritstone with a stone slate roof. In the centre is a two-storey two-bay block flanked by single-story four-bay wings. The central doorway has a moulded surround, a pulvinated frieze and a cornice, and it is flanked by sash windows in plain surrounds. Above it is a tablet with an inscription, and a large semicircular window with a plain surround and a sill band. The wings contain doorways with fanlights, and sash windows.

The Little Chapel is a historic building in Leathley, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. The Wesleyan Methodist Church constructed the chapel in 1826. It could seat 114 worshippers, and by 1851 had more than 60 at a typical Sunday morning service. The doors were replaced and many of the windows altered in the 20th century. The building was grade II* listed in 1985. The chapel closed around the end of the century, and in 2003 it was converted into an observatory. In 2014, it was advertised for sale for £150,000 with the potential to convert it into a holiday let. The chapel is built of gritstone with a hipped stone slate roof, and it has a square plan. The double doors and sash windows have plain surrounds, and above the doorway is an inscribed and dated plaque. To the south and east of the chapel are ramped retaining walls, containing a square-headed gateway and a door with decorative hinges. The gate is reached by three semicircular stone steps incorporating an iron boot scraper. Inside, the original stepped wooden pews survive, along with a wooden pulpit, communion rail, choir benches and panelling.

The name "Farnley" indicates that the village was first established in an area heavy with ferns. It is mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book as Fernelai and Fernelie. To the south of the village lies Farnley Hall, a stately home built by John Carr. The house has a rich history, being associated with names such as Fairfax, Cromwell, and Turner. Farnley Hall is a stately home in Farnley, North Yorkshire, England. It is located near Otley. The original early seventeenth-century house was added to in the 1780s by John Carr, who also designed Harewood House. The hall is now a Grade I listed building. The house consists of an 18th-century square block with earlier and later L-shaped wings at the rear and is built of coursed squared gritstone and ashlar with stone slate and lead roofs.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Stainburn, North Yorkshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

All Saints' Church is an Anglican church in Farnley, North Yorkshire, a village in England. A church was built in Farnley in the 13th century, but at some point much of it was demolished, with the former chancel serving as a chapel. A new church was commissioned by Ayscough Fawkes, and was completed in 1851, reusing most of the walling from the chapel. The church was grade II listed in 1985. The church is built of gritstone with a slate roof, and is in the Early English style. It consists of a nave and a chancel in one unit, a south porch, and a bellcote on the west gable. The windows are lancets. Some of the stained glass is 17th century and was designed by Henry Gyles. It was originally made for Hawksworth Hall, and was moved to Farnley Hall before being installed in the church. Inside the church, there is a west gallery with a vestry below, and the pews probably date from 1851.
