Argentona is a municipality in the comarca of the Maresme in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the south-east side of the granite Litoral range, to the north-west of Mataró. The town is both a tourist centre and a notable horticultural centre. A local road links the municipality with Cabrera de Mar and with the main N-II road at Vilassar de Mar. The town centre has buildings in a wide range of styles. The late gothic church of Sant Julià was restored by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. The same architect designed Casa Gari, a private residence adjoining the chapel of Sant Miquel del Cros, a work in the style of Antoni Gaudí by Lluís Bonet (1929). There are several buildings from the 16th to the 17th centuries, as well as the Roman chapel of La Mare de Déu del Viver and the benedictine priory of Sant Pere de Clarà. There is an interesting museum dedicated to water jugs, the Argentona Water Jug Museum, in which there are exhibited more than 700 pieces, including four ceramic works by Pablo Picasso. The town festival (Festa Major) occurs every 4 August, to celebrate Saint Dominic. The mayor of this town is Eudald Calvo Català.

The Argentona Water Jug Museum (Catalan: Museu del Càntir d'Argentona), in Barcelona, founded in 1975, is located in a building which opened on 20 July 2000. The origins of the museum can be found in the Water Jug Festival, which is celebrated on 4 August every year since 1951, upholding a traditional celebration dating back to the 17th century, brought about by a ‘vow of the town' to Saint Dominic, patron saint of water, to protect Argentona from a grave pestilence. Every year, coinciding with the Water Jug Festival, the Water Jug Museum organises the International Ceramic and Pottery Festival, the dates of which vary according to the day on which 4 August falls, in order to disseminate and promote the conservation of traditional pottery and the new values of the ceramics being produced.

The Roman villa of Can Llauder is a Roman site near Mataró, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Built in the first imperial period (1st century BC) and remodeled at the beginning of the 3rd century AD, the villa had a rich decor of marble and mosaics, with traces of stucco and paint. It was owned by several wealthy owners who possibly resided in the villa with his family and their slaves. An inscription has been found linking it to Gaius Marius. The villa was used until the Middle Ages when it fell into disrepair and ruin. It is now conserved as a Bien de Interés Cultural.

The Coll i Regàs house is a modernist building designed by the Catalan architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch in 1898 and commissioned by the entrepreneur Joaquim Coll i Regas, a major textile manufacturer Mataro (Barcelona). Exponent of the significant elements of decorativism that characterized the modernist movement was declared in 2000 a Cultural Interest, in the category of historical monument. Today it is owned by the Fundació Iluro of Mataró.

Tecnocampus is a scientific park in the city of Mataró, forming part of Pompeu Fabra University. It was inaugurated in November 2009 and it includes three faculties (Polythecnic, Economics and Health), more than one hundred enterprises and a conference center. It is member of the Catalan network of scientific and technological parks, member of the Spanish association of scientific and Technological parks, and the unique scientific park in the Maresme region. The building was designed by one of the prestigious Catalan architects firm MBM ARQUITECTES, integrated by Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual.The Tecnocampus facilities occupy 50,000 m2 in front of the beach, and the building consists of three different spaces.

The Maristes Valldemia school (aka: Col·legi Maristes Valldemia, Col·legi Valldemia or Valldemia), is located in Mataró, Province of Barcelona - Catalonia (Spain). It is a catholic school run by Marist Brothers, and dedicated to Our Lady the Virgin of the Candle. The ownership is held by Fundació Champagnat, Fundació Privada.The school was founded in 1855 by three Piarists related persons: the priest Hermenegild Coll i Valldemia, Pelegrí Ferrer and Ramon Cuspinera. Its first naming was «Colegio de Cataluña», and was located at the land of the masia (traditional Catalan manor) of Can Miralpeix. The school had the objective to provide a modern and Christian education. Beyond 1858 was known as «Col·legi de Valldemia» (in Catalan) or «Colegio de Valldemia» (in Spanish). In 1888 was given to the Marist Brothers to run it, till nowadays. From 2012 the official name is "Maristes Valldemia".The main building was designed by the architect Jeroni Boada, and posteriorly improved in 1911 by Josep Goday i Casals (who used to be an alumn of the school, and founder member of the Alumni Association). The building is catalogued as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local (Catalan: Local Cultural Heritage) at the Inventari del Patrimoni Arquitectònic de Catalunya (Catalan: Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia) as IPA-8680.The school received its first international recognition at the Paris Exposition in 1900, a gold medal in recognition of quality education. During the convulsive years that marked the Spanish Civil War, Valldemia was converted into a hospital and blood bank.Today, the school has 1200 students from ages 3 to 18, who are taught by a staff of 90 teachers.

The Mataró Museum is a museum in Mataró, in El Maresme, with a central office in Can Serra, a fortified Renaissance building dating back to 1565. The museum, which is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network, also manages the different local heritage centres, such as: The Ca l’Arenas Art Centre, part of the Mataró Museum. The Torre Llauder Archaeological Site. The El Montnegre i el Corredor Park Documentation Centre of the Catalan Coastal Range. The Can Marfà Knitwear Museum is devoted to the knit fabric industry.

Rocafonda is a neighbourhood of the city of Mataró in Catalonia, Spain. Rocafonda was built in the 1960s to accommodate immigration from southern Spanish regions such as Andalusia and Extremadura. While the rest of Mataró had low houses, high tower blocks were built in Rocafonda, producing a high population density. Rapid immigration led to shortages of school places and poor roads and water supply, leading to the formation of an organised neighbourhood group in the 1970s. In the 1990s, Rocafonda's original southern Spanish inhabitants moved to richer neighbourhoods, and foreign migrants moved in due to the low cost of living. In 2023, Rocafonda had a population of 11,664. Of these, 52% were born outside Catalonia, including 37% born abroad. Its percentage of foreign-born residents was 17 and 19 percentage points higher than the figures for Mataró and Spain as a whole, respectively. Of the foreign population, 58% are from Morocco. Around half of the Rocafonda population lives below the poverty line, and as of 2021, it is the area with the lowest income in the comarca of Maresme. The neighbourhood gained international attention during UEFA Euro 2024 due to Lamine Yamal, a Spain national football team player raised there. He celebrated his goals by gesturing the number "304", referring to the local postcode of 08304. José Manuel Gómez Jurado, a politician of the party Por Andalucía, repeated the gesture in the Parliament of Andalusia in response to an anti-immigration speech by Vox's Purificación Fernández.

The Can Marfà Knitwear Museum (Catalan: Can Marfà. Museu del Gènere de Punt), located in Mataró (Spain). Part of the Mataró Museum it is devoted to the knitting and hosiery industry. It is situated in one of the three-storey warehouses of the former Marfà factory in Mataró, the most important Knitted fabric factory in Spain before 1936.The facility has 1,800 m2 distributed over three floors.

Mataró (Catalan pronunciation: [mətəˈɾo]) is the capital and largest town of the Maresme county in Catalonia (Spain). It is located on the Maresme coast, to the south of Costa Brava, between Cabrera de Mar and Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, 30 kilometres (19 miles) north-east of Barcelona. As of 2021, it had a population of c. 129,749 inhabitants.

Hermitage of St. Simon (Ermita de Sant Simó) is a small Spanish parish church located in the east end of the Royal Road, in the faubourg of Havana, in the municipality of Mataró, comarca of Maresme. Dating to 1611, the seaside chapel is well-known along the Catalonia coast. It has a single nave in keeping with ancient seafaring tradition. The Feast Day is 28 October.

The Vilassar de Mar Municipal Museum (Catalan: Museu Municipal de Vilassar de Mar) is a local museum in Vilassar de Mar comprising two facilities: The Marina Museum, focusing on local history and placing special emphasis on its connection with the nautical world, and the Monjo Museum, which tells the story behind the legacy of Vilassar de Mar sculptor Enric Monjo. The Vilassar de Mar Municipal Museum is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network.
