The Gallagher-Kieffer House is a historic building in the United States. It is located at 234 North Dithridge Street in the North Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1893 in the Shingle architectural style, the house was the home of Patrick F. Gallagher, president of the Duquesne Construction Company from 1931 to 1938, and his family. In May 2020, the House was nominated to be a City of Pittsburgh Historic Landmark by Preservation Pittsburgh. In July 2020, the City of Pittsburgh's Historic Review Commission determined that this nomination was viable.

Oakland Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic college preparatory school for girls, located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. It was established by Bishop Donald Wuerl in 1989 as the merger of former all-girl parish high schools of Sacred Heart and St. Paul Cathedral to serve as a sister school for Central Catholic. Approximately 600 students matriculate at Oakland Catholic and the school draws female students from all over the City of Pittsburgh and the suburbs. Upon graduation, 100% of its students continue to a four-year university. Oakland Catholic High School completed construction and renovations for the 2008-2009 school year.

The Herron Hill Pumping Station is located at 4501 Centre Avenue in the North Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in the Classical Revival architectural style, the building was instrumental in distributing water throughout Pittsburgh’s East End neighborhoods, such as the Hill District and Squirrel Hill. In May 2020, Preservation Pittsburgh nominated the structure for City of Pittsburgh Historic Landmark status. In July 2020, the City of Pittsburgh's Historic Review Commission determined that the structure's nomination to be a City of Pittsburgh Historic Landmark was viable.

Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children (WPSBC) is a private chartered school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania committed to nurturing the unique abilities of individuals with blindness and visual impairment. This multifaceted educational experience serves nearly 500 individuals ages 3 to 59 from 33 counties through on-campus school programs, A Child’s VIEW inclusive childcare, LAVI adult program, residential program and outreach services. WPSBC is one of four chartered schools in Pennsylvania– along with the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, the Overbrook School for the Blind and the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.

Pittsburgh Chinese Church is an independent, interdenominational and evangelical church with locations in McCandless, Pennsylvania and the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its main congregation is in McCandless Township. Its Oakland location, acronymed "PCCO", consists of the Mandarin speaking "Chinese congregation" and "OIF" (Oakland International Fellowship). ACF (Asian Christian Fellowship) is a ministry of the McCandless location. It includes students from many area universities including Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Duquesne University. It works loosely with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Both locations have: annual Vacation Bible School weekly bilingual (English, Mandarin) prayer meeting weekly contemporary worship and monolingual and bilingual church service childcare during Sunday school lunch service weekly cell group meetings

Saint Paul Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. St. Paul's parish was established in 1833.

The Church of the Ascension is an Anglican church located at Ellsworth Avenue and Neville Street in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1898. The church was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1971.Like nearly all the Episcopal churches of the Pittsburgh area in the first half of the 20th century, the church boasted a really fine professional choir of men and boys that dominated the Sunday services, performing the music-heavy ritual of Morning Prayer from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer three Sundays out of four, the fourth Sunday being devoted to the celebration of Holy Communion. The choir's choral accomplishments peaked twice under the direction of Herbert C. Peabody in the 1930s and Robert Hamilton Cato in the 1940s. The church is currently a member of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh, in the Anglican Church in North America.

The Diocese of Pittsburgh (Latin: Diœcesis Pittsburgensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church in Western Pennsylvania established on August 11, 1843. The diocese includes 188 parishes and 225 churches in the counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence, and Washington, an area of 3,786 sq mi (9,810 km2) with a Catholic population of 630,033 as of 2019. The cathedral church of the diocese is the Cathedral of Saint Paul. As of July 2021, the diocese had 194 active priests.

The Duquesne Gardens was the main sports arena located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, during the first half of the 20th century. Built in 1890, the building originally served as a trolley barn, before becoming a multi-purpose arena. The Gardens opened three years after a fire destroyed the city's prior sports arena, the Schenley Park Casino, in 1896. Over the years, the Gardens was the home arena of several of Pittsburgh's historic sports teams, such as ice hockey's Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Hornets. The Western Pennsylvania Hockey League, which was the first ice hockey league to openly hire and trade players, played all of its games at the Gardens. The arena was also the first hockey rink to ever use glass above the dasher boards. Developed locally by the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, Herculite glass was first tested in Pittsburgh. Most rinks were using wire mesh before the shatterproof glass was invented. Finally, the Pittsburgh Ironmen, a charter member of the Basketball Association of America (a forerunner of the National Basketball Association), played at the Gardens from 1946 to 1947. Outside team sports, the Duquesne Garden Ball Room, located on the arena's second floor, was also one of the largest dance halls in the country during the time.

Schenley High School, located in the North Oakland neighborhood at the edge of the Hill District in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a historic building opened in 1916 that was a part of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. The Schenley High School building was closed in June 2008 in a 5-4 vote by the school district due to issues with asbestos. Its staff and students were relocated the following year. The Schenley name was retired and its last class graduated in 2011. On February 28, 2013 the Pittsburgh School Board approved the sale of Schenley High School to the PMC Property Group of Philadelphia in a 5-4 vote.The Schenley building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP Reference #86002706). and the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Register. It is also a contributing property in the Schenley Farms Historic District.

The University of Pittsburgh's School of Computing and Information is one of the 17 schools and colleges of University of Pittsburgh located on the university's main campus in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The school was formed in 2017 with a focus on academic programs that teach contextually situated computing in an interdisciplinary manner. The school offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as certificate programs and houses three departments: Computer Science, Informatics and Networked Systems, and Information Culture and Data Stewardship.The school was created by combining the university's School of Information Sciences, which was also known as the "iSchool" and was founded in 1901, with the Department of Computer Science, which was founded in 1966 and previously housed the university's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Located on the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, the school was led by its founding Dean Paul Cohen until he stepped down in July 2020 to be temporarily replaced by Interim Dean Bruce Childers.Founded in 1901, the former School of Information Sciences was one of the nation's pioneering schools in the education of information professionals. Originating as the Training School for Children's Librarians at the Carnegie Library, the school moved to the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1930, and eventually to the University of Pittsburgh in 1961. In its last year as a separate school, it is ranked 10th in the list of Best Library and Information Studies Programs by US News & World Report and is one of the original members in the list of I-Schools. The Department of Computer Science was founded in 1966 making it one of the oldest such departments in the country.
