Fairfax Apartments is a historic apartment building in the North Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1926–27 as the Fifth Avenue Apartments, but was renamed in 1928 after being sold to the Fairfax Hotel Company. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.The building is nine stories high and consists of a main block facing Fifth Avenue with two perpendicular rear wings. It is faced with brown brick with limestone Jacobethan Revival architectural details including spandrels, quoins, and stringcourses. The symmetrical front elevation is 15 bays wide with three slightly projecting sections which are topped with stone finials. The side and rear elevations are less ornamented. The building contains 27 1-bedroom and studio apartments on each floor except for the ground floor, which was mostly converted to office space.

The Diocese of Pittsburgh (Latin: Diœcesis Pittsburgensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church in Western Pennsylvania established on August 11, 1843. The diocese includes 188 parishes and 225 churches in the counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence, and Washington, an area of 3,786 sq mi (9,810 km2) with a Catholic population of 630,033 as of 2019. The cathedral church of the diocese is the Cathedral of Saint Paul. As of July 2021, the diocese had 194 active priests.

The Information Networking Institute (INI) was established by Carnegie Mellon in 1989 as the nation's first research and education center devoted to information networking.As an integral department of the College of Engineering and a collaboration of the School of Computer Science, the Tepper School of Business, and the Heinz College, the INI's professional graduate degree programs represent a fusion of technologies, economics and policies of secure communication networks, systems and services. The INI also partners with research and outreach entities to extend educational and training programs to the broad audience of people using information networking as part of their daily lives. The INI is the educational partner of Carnegie Mellon CyLab, a university-wide, multidisciplinary research center involving more than 50 faculty and 100 graduate students.

Also known as JPRC and Just Research, Justsystem Pittsburgh Research Center was a late-1990s computer science research laboratory in Pittsburgh, loosely associated with Carnegie Mellon University. Its director was Dr. Scott Fahlman.During its relatively brief existence, from May 1996 to July 2000, JPRC performed work in machine vision, text classification and summarization, programming environments and user interface design. The Church of the Ascension is an Anglican church located at Ellsworth Avenue and Neville Street in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1898. The church was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1971.Like nearly all the Episcopal churches of the Pittsburgh area in the first half of the 20th century, the church boasted a really fine professional choir of men and boys that dominated the Sunday services, performing the music-heavy ritual of Morning Prayer from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer three Sundays out of four, the fourth Sunday being devoted to the celebration of Holy Communion. The choir's choral accomplishments peaked twice under the direction of Herbert C. Peabody in the 1930s and Robert Hamilton Cato in the 1940s. The church is currently a member of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh, in the Anglican Church in North America.

Schenley Tunnel (also known as the Neville Street Tunnel and Pittsburgh Junction Railroad Tunnel) is a railroad tunnel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The tunnel runs beneath Neville Street in the city's North Oakland neighborhood; the south portal is at the upper end of Junction Hollow, the north in a ravine that opens into Skunk Hollow, between North Oakland and Bloomfield. Schenley Tunnel measures 2,872 feet (875 m) in length and runs about 70 feet (21 m) beneath Neville Street. It carries CSX Transportation's P&W Subdivision. The Allegheny Valley Railroad, a short-line railroad, uses the tunnel for regional services. Amtrak's Capitol Limited also uses the tunnel when entering and leaving the city.

Oakland Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic college preparatory school for girls, located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. It was established by Bishop Donald Wuerl in 1989 as the merger of former all-girl parish high schools of Sacred Heart and St. Paul Cathedral to serve as a sister school for Central Catholic. Approximately 600 students matriculate at Oakland Catholic and the school draws female students from all over the City of Pittsburgh and the suburbs. Upon graduation, 100% of its students continue to a four-year university. Oakland Catholic High School completed construction and renovations for the 2008-2009 school year.

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is an American research and development center headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its activities cover cybersecurity, software assurance, software engineering and acquisition, and component capabilities critical to the United States Department of Defense.

Pittsburgh Chinese Church is an independent, interdenominational and evangelical church with locations in McCandless, Pennsylvania and the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its main congregation is in McCandless Township. Its Oakland location, acronymed "PCCO", consists of the Mandarin speaking "Chinese congregation" and "OIF" (Oakland International Fellowship). ACF (Asian Christian Fellowship) is a ministry of the McCandless location. It includes students from many area universities including Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and Duquesne University. It works loosely with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Both locations have: annual Vacation Bible School weekly bilingual (English, Mandarin) prayer meeting weekly contemporary worship and monolingual and bilingual church service childcare during Sunday school lunch service weekly cell group meetings

Central Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic, Lasallian, all-boys college preparatory school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a part of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The De La Salle Brothers administer and partially staff the school.

The Mellon College of Science (MCS) is part of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. The college is named for the Mellon family, founders of the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research, a predecessor of Carnegie Mellon University. The college offers various bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. It also awards the Dickson Prize in Science. Since 2016, its dean is Rebecca Doerge.
