The District of Porto (Portuguese: Distrito do Porto [ˈpoɾtu] (listen)) is located on the north-west coast of Portugal. The district capital is the city of Porto, the second largest city in the country. It is bordered by the Aveiro and Viseu districts to the south, Braga district to the north and Vila Real district to the east. Its area is 2,395 km2 (925 sq mi) and its population is 1,817,172. In 2017, the main legal foreign populations were from Brazil (9,442), China (2,475), Ukraine (2,160), Italy (1,273), Spain (1,189), Angola (1,118), and Cape Verde (1,040). These numbers exclude those who obtained Portuguese citizenship, which is regular among recent Portuguese Brazilians or Portuguese-Africans.

Aliados is an underground light rail station on the Porto Metro system in Porto, Portugal. It is situated to the south of Porto City Hall and under the Avenida dos Aliados, one of central Porto's main streets, from which it takes its name. The central tunnelled section of Porto Metro line D, including Aliados station, opened on 17 September 2005, with trains initially running between Câmara de Gaia, to the south, and Pólo Universitário. to the north. The line has since been extended from Câmara de Gaia to Vila d’Este, and from Pólo Universitário to Hospital de São João. The station is preceded by Trindade and followed by São Bento stations. The station platforms are underground, and there are two through tracks, each served by a side platform. Porto tram line 22 also stops at the Avenida dos Aliados near the station.

The Porto–Trindade Railway Station was a major railway station in the Portuguese city of Porto. It served as the city terminus for a network of 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge railways that served the area to the north of the city, including lines stretching as far as Matosinhos, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila Nova de Famalicão and Guimarães. It was opened on 30 October 1938 and closed on 28 April 2001. The station site is now occupied by the Trindade station of the Porto Metro, which has also replaced some of the rail services operated from the former station.

São Bento Railway Station (Portuguese: estação ferroviária de São Bento) is a 20th-century railway terminal in the civil parish of Cedofeita, Santo Ildefonso, Sé, Miragaia, São Nicolau e Vitória, in the municipality of Porto, district of Porto. The English translation of São Bento is Saint Benedict. The station is located in the Historic Centre of Porto, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as a National Monument of Portugal.This building was constructed over a number of years, starting in 1904, based on plans by architect José Marques da Silva. The large panels of azulejo tile were designed and painted by Jorge Colaço; they were completed in 1916 and the station was then inaugurated. The murals represent moments in the country's history and the multicolored panels depict rural scenes showing the people of various regions.
