The Stade Pierre-Mauroy, also known as the Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre-Mauroy for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-use retractable roof stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (Métropole Européenne de Lille), France, that opened in August 2012. It has a seating capacity of 50,186 and is the home stadium of Lille OSC. Initially named Grand Stade Lille Métropole, the stadium was renamed on 21 June 2013, just after the death of the former Mayor of Lille and former Prime Minister of France Pierre Mauroy (1928–2013).

TELECOM Lille (formerly ENIC) was a French public Grande école (engineering school).TELECOM Lille was located on the science campus of the University of Lille in Villeneuve d'Ascq near Lille. TELECOM Lille was part of Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT). In 2017, TELECOM Lille merges with the École des Mines Douai and becomes École des Mines-Télécom de Lille-Douai (IMT Lille Douai).

The Charles de Gaulle University – Lille III (French: Université Lille 3 Charles-de-Gaulle) was a French university. Since 1974, the main campus of University of Lille III was located in Villeneuve d'Ascq in eastern Lille, at Pont de Bois metro station, and includes 21,000 students. The University of Lille III continues the long tradition of teaching the humanities in the area around Lille, which originates from the Université de Douai, established in 1559, and located 25 km away from the present modern campus. The university of Lille III even has an independent cinema named "Kino" (Cinema in German). Since 1970, science and technology have been taught at an independent campus of Université de Lille I - USTL, while the faculties of law, management, sports and health are part of the independent campus of Université de Lille II. Together, the universities of Lille include more than 90,000 students and 3,000 PhD students, supported by the universities' research laboratories. At the beginning of 2018, the three universities of Lille (Lille 1, Lille 2, Lille 3) merged to form the University of Lille.

The Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale de Lille (LIFL), is a computer science research laboratory of University of Lille, in Lille, France. LIFL was founded in 1983 and currently employs more than 200 employees. Since January 2015, the LIFL has merged with another laboratory, the Laboratoire d'Automatique, Génie Informatique et Signal (LAGIS). The resulting laboratory is now CRIStAL. Most of the projects and teams at LIFL are supported and funded by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA).

École polytechnique universitaire de Lille (Polytech Lille) is a French engineering College created in 1974. It is one of the 204 Colleges accredited by the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieurs (CTI). Polytech Lille is located on the Cité Scientifique campus in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France, a suburb of the French city of Lille. It is a public school part of the University of Lille as well as the Polytech group, the largest group of engineering colleges in France. The college's official name is "Ecole polytechnique universitaire de Lille" or " University Polytechnic School of Lille" as stated in the decree n°2002-468 dated 4 avril 2002, however the usual name is "Polytech Lille". It was established in 2002 following the fusion of the EUDIL (former name) with the IAAL and IESP colleges and the creation of the Polytech Group.

The Meeting Lille Métropole was an annual one-day outdoor track and field meeting at the Stadium Lille Métropole in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. It has featured on the Pro Athlé Tour of French track and field meetings, has received European Athletics permit meeting status, and was part of the IAAF Grand Prix circuit from 2003 to 2005.The history of the competition is connected to the Meeting de Paris, which was held in Lille from 1988–1994 due to ongoing work at the Stade Sébastien Charléty. Once the Paris meeting returned to the capital, the Lille meeting was established in its own right in 1995. The competition was incorporated into the national Pro Athlé Tour in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The meeting was not held in 2011 as the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics was held at the stadium instead. The 2012 meeting was the last edition to be held.

Stadium Lille-Métropole is a multi-purpose stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. The stadium was built in 1976 and is able to hold 18,154 spectators. The architect of the stadium was Roger Taillibert. It was used as the temporary home stadium of Lille OSC before the completion of the nearby Stade Pierre-Mauroy. It was also the home stadium of ES Wasquehal, when the club played in Ligue 2 and National, between 1995 and 2005. The stadium has hosted several rugby matches, including France versus Argentina in 1988 and the Wallabies in 1989, All Blacks versus Canada in the 1991 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals, French Barbarians versus Springboks in 1992, Stade Français versus Scarlets in the 1998–99 Heineken Cup and the semi final of the 2000-01 Heineken Cup between Stade Français and Munster. Also, the venue has an athletics track, which hosted the 2002 IPC Athletics World Championships and 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics, as well as the annual Meeting Lille-Métropole. AC/DC concluded their For Those About to Rock Tour at the stadium on December 20, 1982. Pink Floyd performed at the stadium during their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour on July 28, 1988.

Villeneuve-d'Ascq (French pronunciation: ​[vilnœvdask]; Picard: Neuvile-Ask) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. With more than 60,000 inhabitants and 50,000 students, it is one of the main cities of the Métropole Européenne de Lille and the largest in area (27.46 km²) after Lille. It is also one of the main cities of the Hauts-de-France region. Built up owing to the merger between the former communes of Ascq, Annappes and Flers-lez-Lille, Villeneuve-d'Ascq is a new town and the cradle of the first automatic metro system of the world (VAL). Flers-lez-Lille (French pronunciation: ​[flɛʁs le lil], literally Flers near Lille) is a former commune in the Nord department in northern France, merged into Villeneuve-d'Ascq in 1970.

The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology or IEMN (Institut d'électronique de microélectronique et de nanotechnologie in French) is a research institute of University of Lille, CNRS and École Centrale de Lille (UMR CNRS 8520).

The Laboratoire d'Automatique, Génie Informatique et Signal (LAGIS) is a French research laboratory (UMR CNRS 8146) located on the Science campus of the University of Lille. It is hosted in the premises of École centrale de Lille. Since January 2015, the LAGIS has merged with another laboratory, the Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale de Lille (LIFL). The resulting laboratory is now CRIStAL.

The Institut industriel du Nord (IDN) was the engineering school and research institute at École Centrale de Lille from 1872 to 1991, within the campus of the Lille University of Science and Technology (France).
