The canton of Villeneuve-d'Ascq is an administrative division of the Nord department, northern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Villeneuve-d'Ascq.It consists of the following communes: Forest-sur-Marque Sailly-lez-Lannoy Toufflers Villeneuve-d'Ascq Willems

Saint-Sébastien church Catholic church located in the village of Annappes, now part of the commune of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Nord department, northern France. The church is placed under the patronage of Saint Sebastian, Roman martyr, of whom it houses a relic preserved at the request of the brotherhood of archers of Saint Sebastian founded in 1517.

Annappes (French pronunciation: ​[anap]) is a village and former commune of the Nord Department of France, on the river Marque. In 1970, it was merged with the communes of Ascq and Flers-lez-Lille to form the new commune of Villeneuve d'Ascq. It is still a district of the commune today.

The Meeting Lille Métropole was an annual one-day outdoor track and field meeting at the Stadium Lille Métropole in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. It has featured on the Pro Athlé Tour of French track and field meetings, has received European Athletics permit meeting status, and was part of the IAAF Grand Prix circuit from 2003 to 2005.The history of the competition is connected to the Meeting de Paris, which was held in Lille from 1988–1994 due to ongoing work at the Stade Sébastien Charléty. Once the Paris meeting returned to the capital, the Lille meeting was established in its own right in 1995. The competition was incorporated into the national Pro Athlé Tour in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The meeting was not held in 2011 as the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics was held at the stadium instead. The 2012 meeting was the last edition to be held.

Stadium Lille-Métropole is a multi-purpose stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. The stadium was built in 1976 and is able to hold 18,154 spectators. The architect of the stadium was Roger Taillibert. It was used as the temporary home stadium of Lille OSC before the completion of the nearby Stade Pierre-Mauroy. It was also the home stadium of ES Wasquehal, when the club played in Ligue 2 and National, between 1995 and 2005. The stadium has hosted several rugby matches, including France versus Argentina in 1988 and the Wallabies in 1989, All Blacks versus Canada in the 1991 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals, French Barbarians versus Springboks in 1992, Stade Français versus Scarlets in the 1998–99 Heineken Cup and the semi final of the 2000-01 Heineken Cup between Stade Français and Munster. Also, the venue has an athletics track, which hosted the 2002 IPC Athletics World Championships and 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics, as well as the annual Meeting Lille-Métropole. AC/DC concluded their For Those About to Rock Tour at the stadium on December 20, 1982. Pink Floyd performed at the stadium during their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour on July 28, 1988.

The Lille 1 University of Science and Technology (French: Université Lille 1 : Sciences et Technologies, USTL) was a French university located on a dedicated main campus in Villeneuve d'Ascq, near Lille (Hauts-de-France - European Metropolis of Lille), with 20,000 full-time students plus 14,500 students in continuing education (2004). 1,310 permanent faculty members plus 1,200 staff and around 140 CNRS researchers work there in the different University Lille 1 institutes and 43 research labs. University Lille 1 was a member of the European Doctoral College Lille Nord de France, which produces 400 doctorate dissertations every year. The university is ranked in the world top 200 universities in mathematics by the Shanghai ranking.University Lille 1 was established as Faculty of Science in 1854 in Lille, although its academic roots extend back to 1559. It later moved to Villeneuve d'Ascq in 1967. The University focuses on science and technology. Law, business management and medical fields are taught in the independent campus of Université de Lille II, while literature and social sciences are taught as part of the independent campus of Université de Lille III. Altogether, the three university in Lille include more than 70,000 students and are the main parts of the Community of Universities and Institutions (COMUE) Lille Nord de France. At the beginning of 2018, the three universities (Lille 1, Lille 2, Lille 3) merged to form the University of Lille; the UFRs of Lille 1 become Departments of the new Faculty of Science and Technology.

The Lille Métropole Museum of Modern, Contemporary and Outsider Art (LaM), formerly known as Villeneuve d'Ascq Museum of Modern Art, is an art museum in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France. With more than 4,500 artworks on a 4,000-square-metre (43,000 sq ft) exhibition area, the LaM is the only museum in Europe to present simultaneously the main components of the 20th and 21st centuries art : modern art, contemporary art and outsider art. LaM's holdings include some masterpieces of Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Joan Miró, Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Alexander Calder and the biggest outsider art collection in France. LaM possesses also a library and a rich park of sculptures. The museum's collection offers an overview in modern and contemporary art, including drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist's books, and electronic media.

Saint-Pierre-en-Antioche Church is a Catholic church located in the village of Ascq, now part of the commune of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Nord department, northern France. The church contains a tapestry designated as a monument historique in 1906, called Les Noces de Cana (Marriage at Cana), painted by A. Werniers in 1735. It was originally part of a collection of six pieces for Saint Sauveur church.

Ascq station (French: Gare d'Ascq) is a railway station serving the former village of Ascq, now part of Villeneuve-d'Ascq city, Nord department, northern France.

Flers-lez-Lille (French pronunciation: ​[flɛʁs le lil], literally Flers near Lille) is a former commune in the Nord department in northern France, merged into Villeneuve-d'Ascq in 1970.

The Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale de Lille (LIFL), is a computer science research laboratory of University of Lille, in Lille, France. LIFL was founded in 1983 and currently employs more than 200 employees. Since January 2015, the LIFL has merged with another laboratory, the Laboratoire d'Automatique, Génie Informatique et Signal (LAGIS). The resulting laboratory is now CRIStAL. Most of the projects and teams at LIFL are supported and funded by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA).

TELECOM Lille (formerly ENIC) was a French public Grande école (engineering school).TELECOM Lille was located on the science campus of the University of Lille in Villeneuve d'Ascq near Lille. TELECOM Lille was part of Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT). In 2017, TELECOM Lille merges with the École des Mines Douai and becomes École des Mines-Télécom de Lille-Douai (IMT Lille Douai).
