Hannover Hauptbahnhof (German for Hanover main station) is the main railway station for the city of Hanover in Lower Saxony, Germany. The railway junction is one of the 21 stations listed as a railway Category 1 station by DB Station&Service. It is also the most important public transport hub of the region of Hanover and it is served regional and S-Bahn services. The station has six platforms with twelve platform tracks, and two through tracks without platforms. Every day it is used by 250,000 passengers and 622 trains stop at the platforms (as of October 2012). About 2,000 people work here.

The Schauspiel Hannover (Hanover Drama) is part of the theatre organisation of the German state of Lower Saxony in its capital, Hanover, the Niedersächsische Staatstheater Hannover (Lower Saxony State Theatres). The other part is the Staatsoper Hannover. Schauspiel offers theatre, entertainment and music on five stages, the Schauspielhaus (Play house), the Cumberlandsche Bühne (Cumberland stage), the Cumberlandsche Galerie (Cumberland gallery), and the historic buildings in Old Town, Ballhof Eins and Ballhof Zwei.

Bankhaus Adolph Meyer was a private bank, and the oldest in Hanover, Germany. It played a prominent role in the industrialization of Lower Saxony, particularly in the cotton and coal and steel industries, especially since the time of the Kingdom of Hanover. During the Nazi era, it was "Aryanized". It is now located on Schillerstraße at the corner of Rosenstraße in Hannover's Mitte district.

Staatsoper Hannover is a German opera house and company in Hanover, the state capital of Lower Saxony. It is part of the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater Hannover (often referred to as simply Staatstheater Hannover), which puts on operas, stage productions, and concert programs. It consists of the divisions Schauspiel Hannover, Staatsballett Hannover, Staatsorchester Hannover and Theatermuseum Hannover. Its season runs from September to June.

Kröpcke is the central square of the city of Hanover in Germany. The square is situated at the crossroads of Georgstraße, Karmarschstraße, Bahnhofstraße and Rathenaustraße. It is named after Wilhelm Kröpcke, one of the owners of the former Café Robby, which was erected on the then-nameless square in 1869. Kröpcke leased the café in 1876, changed the business's name to Café Kröpcke and operated the café until 1919. Eventually, the square adopted the name from the café and in 1948 was officially named Kröpcke by the city of Hanover. One of its notable features is the Kröpcke clock, which is a 1977 replica of an 1885 clock that was scrapped after World War II.

The Klosterkammer Hannover (Hanover Monastic Chamber), based in Hanover, is a special authority within the scope of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. It administers former ecclesiastical, mediatized property and maintains churches and convents. In addition, as a foundation body (Stiftungsorgan), it administers four independent foundations under public law. The Klosterkammer maintains and promotes church, social and educational projects. It is one of the oldest and most traditional state authorities in Lower Saxony, whose forerunner organisation was founded in the 16th century.

Warmbüchenviertel is an area in the quarter and borough of Mitte in Hanover. The quarter is characterised by insurance companies and other office buildings, but is also an inner city residential area. The name derives from two major streets: Warmbüchenstraße und Warmbüchenkamp.

Elsbach & Frank was a textile retail business founded in the 19th century in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. The department store built by this company on the corner of Osterstraße and Große Packhofstraße, called Kaufhaus zum Stern, is the only building in the city center that survived the air raids on Hanover during the Second World War without major damage. Today, the building is used by a branch of the Spanish fashion chain Zara.

The Otto Werner clothing store (Bekleidungshaus Otto Werner) opened in 1932 in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. By 1985, the store had expanded to several branches throughout the state. After the original store closed in 1999, the enterprise ceased operating in 2001.

The Deutsche Hypothekenbank (Actien-Gesellschaft) is a Mortgage bank based in Hanover, which specializes in the financing of commercial real estate and the capital market business with domestic and foreign clients. It is a company of NORD/LB and forms the center of excellence for the core business area Commercial Real Estate Financing. The bank employs around 400 people at its five domestic locations in Hanover, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich as well as its foreign locations in Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid and Warsaw. With a balance sheet total of almost €23.7 billion, the Deutsche Hypo is one of Germany's largest real estate financiers.

The Gartenfriedhof or Garden Cemetery is a cemetery in Hanover, created in 1741 and located by the Gartenkirche (built 1749). The cemetery and the church are both named after the garden parish outside the city walls in front of Aegidien gate. The cemetery, which contains a number of classicising grave markers from the first half of the nineteenth century, was closed in 1864 with the establishment of the Stadtfriedhof Engesohde. Today it forms a park in the middle of inner city Hanover. The graves of Charlotte Buff (inspiration of Goethe's "Lotte" in The Sorrows of Young Werther), the astronomer Caroline Herschel and the painter Johann Heinrich Ramberg are located here. The Gartenfriedhof lies on Marienstraße between Warmbüchenstraße and Arnswaldtstraße.

The Open Grave (German: Geöffnetes Grab, literally Opened Grave) or Burst Grave (Gesprengtes Grab) is a tomb in Hanover in the Gartenfriedhof in the Warmbüchenviertel, near the Aegidientorplatz square. and one of the landmarks of the city of Hanover.
