Spånga railway station

Bällstaån or Spångaån (Swedish: "Stream of Bällsta/Spånga") is a small stream in northern Stockholm. Flowing through the municipalities of Järfälla, Stockholm, Sundbyberg, and Solna, it empties in the bay Bällstaviken, the innermost part of Ulvsundasjön. Some 1,4 km of the stream is passing through culverts and long stretches of it have been straitened out to form part of the local stormwater system. Notwithstanding, other sections are furnished with promenades and ponds and therefore considered as of local recreational interest. The municipalities sharing the catchment area, together with the county administrative board, are collaborating to improve water quality and the areas surrounding the stream.

Spånga is a community and parish in the borough of Spånga-Tensta in Stockholm County, Sweden.

Spånga-Tensta is a borough (stadsdelsområde) located in Västerort in the western part of Stockholm, Sweden. The districts that make up the borough are Bromsten, Flysta, Lunda, Solhem, Sundby and Tensta. A large portion of Järvafältet is also located in Spånga-Tensta as well as in the districts of Akalla and Husby in neighboring Rinkeby-Kista borough.The borough includes of the community of Spånga. The population as of 2004 is 34,448 on an area of 12.85 km2, which gives a density of 2,680.78/km2.

Tensta metro station is a station on the blue line of the Stockholm metro, located in the district of Tensta. The station was opened on 31 August 1975 as part the first stretch of the Blue Line between T-Centralen and Hjulsta. The trains were running via Hallonbergen and Rinkeby. The distance to Kungsträdgården is 13.5 km (8.4 mi).

Tensta is a district in Spånga-Tensta borough, Stockholm, Sweden. There are about 6,000 apartments in Tensta and a population of 18,637 as of December 31, 2022.Modern Tensta, with its Plattenbau-style concrete apartment buildings, was constructed in the 1960s. Like nearby Rinkeby and Hjulsta, it was part of the Million Programme, and became known nationwide in the late 1960s. This was partially because many people moved in when the area was still a construction site, and it took years before the metro station opened (in 1975). In the center of Tensta, there is a small grocery market. The art gallery Tensta Konsthall is also situated close to the centre and has gained a name in Sweden and abroad. The government has decided to award to 200 million kronor ($30 million) in performance based subsidies to boost fifteen of Sweden’s suburbs grappling with social exclusion. Tensta is one of the suburbs that have chosen to receive this cash injection. The districts will receive the cash injection at the end of 2013 at the earliest, after the results from the past year have been evaluated. The subsidy - which is performance based - will be awarded for three criteria: how the areas deal with education, employment, and social benefits.In the 2011-13 period, about 53% of the population originated outside the EU and the Nordic countries.In its December 2015 report, Police in Sweden placed the district in the most severe category of urban areas with high crime rates.

Fascinate is a graffiti painting at an industrial park in Bromsten, Stockholm. Fascinate was created by Circle and Tariq (Tarik Saleh), then 17 years old, in 1989 and was then the largest graffiti painting in northern Europe. It is painted on an outside wall of an industrial building and was made with consent from the property owner. Fascinate is one of the world's oldest still existing graffiti paintings.In 1989 graffiti was a relatively new phenomenon in Sweden. The Bromsten industrial area was reconstructed into a residential area starting in 2018. A discussion took place about possible protection of Fascinate as the Stockholm City Museum considered it culturally valuable. In 2008, however, the center-right majority in the city planning committee decided that the painting should not be maintained, referring to the city's graffiti policy, which says that the city should not "participate in activities that in any way encourages graffiti".After a period of uncertainty regarding the future of Fascinate, the wall became the first graffiti work in Sweden to be officially protected in 2015. The rest of the building is to be demolished and the area around the wall transformed into a park.

Flysta is a part of the congregation Spånga in the westernmost parts of the Stockholm municipality, located just over 10 km from the centre of Stockholm. It is a part of the Spånga-Tensta borough. Despite its location in a predominantly residential suburban area, this community has much of what smaller villages used to have, e.g. a bakery, grocery shops, carpenters, hairdressers located along the main road - Spångavägen. This is a testimony to the fact that it used to be its own village, and a summer residence area at the beginning of the 1900s.

Hjulsta, a suburb of Stockholm known for its working-class roots, is often associated with Tensta but boasts its own subway station. This station, the terminal point of the blue line, has been operational since 1975. The name ‘Hjulsta’ for the contemporary urban area is derived from an ancient village that existed in the vicinity since at least the 1480s.The artwork adorning the station is the collective effort of various artists. This includes ‘Sjöfåglar’ by Christina Rundqvist-Andersson, ‘Sista skörden i norra Botkyrka’ by Olle Magnusson, and ‘Landbyska verken vid Engelbrektsplan år 1890’ by Ruth Rydfeldt.

Spånga Church (Swedish: Spånga kyrka) is a church in the Spånga-Tensta borough in Stockholm, Sweden. It is part of Spånga-Kista Parish in the Diocese of Stockholm. The oldest part of the church originates from 1175–1200. Large reconstructions and enhancements took place during the 14th and 15th centuries. Baron Gustaf Bonde (1620–1667), owner of the nearby Hässelby Palace, made considerable donations to the church. After his death a chancel tomb, designed by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, was added onto the church, in which he and his descendants are buried. The church also contains other historical monuments, such as several fresco paintings from the Middle Ages. The church was last renovated between 1953 and 1955.

Bromsten (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈbrɔ̂mːsteːn]) is a middle-class district of northwestern Stockholm and belongs to the Spånga-Tensta borough. The ruins of an ancient hill fort located in the area are believed to be the source of the district's name.

Beckomberga Hospital (Swedish: Beckomberga sjukhus) was a Swedish psychiatric hospital, situated in Bromma west of Stockholm. Opened in 1932, Beckomberga was in its mid-20th century heyday one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in Europe, housing some 2,000 mentally ill patients. The hospital was closed in 1995.
