Champigny-sur-Marne (French pronunciation: [ʃɑ̃piɲi syʁ maʁn] (listen), literally Champigny on Marne) is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 12.5 km (7.8 mi) from the centre of Paris.

The Battle of Villiers, also called the Battle of Champigny, was the largest of the French sorties from besieged Paris during the Franco-Prussian War.

Champigny station is a railway station in the commune of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, near the town Champigny-sur-Marne, Val-de-Marne, France. Champigny is on the A2 branch of the RER A with eastbound trains to Boissy-Saint-Léger and westbound trains to Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It is situated on the Grande Ceinture line.

Champigny Centre station is the provisional name of a future station on Line 15 of the Paris Métro, which is part of the Grand Paris Express project. The station will serve the city of Champigny-sur-Marne The design of the station is complex with three underground zones: one platform area for Line 15 East (used by trains heading north towards Saint-Denis Pleyel or west towards Pont de Sèvres), one platform area for Line 15 South (used by trains heading west towards Pont de Sèvres or east towards Noisy-Champs), and a mezzanine between the platforms. The platforms are located parallel to each other. The platform area for Line 15 South will open in 2025 and while the station box for Line 15 East will be complete, it will not open until 2030. The station walls extend as far down as 60 metres (200 ft) and the station platforms will be located 21 metres (69 ft) below street level.

The station will serve the neighboring towns of Villiers-sur-Marne, Champigny-sur-Marne and Bry-sur-Marne. In the future, additional platforms are expected to be built to serve the RER E and Transilien Line P.

Fort de Champigny was built following the Franco-Prussian War to defend Paris. Located to the southeast of Paris in Chennevières-sur-Marne, the fort was part of an outer ring of fortifications built in response to improvements in the range and effectiveness of artillery since the construction of the Thiers fortifications of the 1840s. It was built in accordance with improved principles of fortification developed for the Séré de Rivières system. The Fort de Champigny was built between 1878 and 1880 on an area of eight hectares at a location that had been used by the Prussians to bombard Paris in the 1870 war. The site controlled movement on the Paris-Troyes railway line at Champigny-sur-Marne. The four-sided fort is surrounded by a ditch and a counterscarp. The fort encloses a paved court surrounded by quarters for 388 men. Water was supplied by cisterns. The fort was initially armed with 34 guns.The fort was modernized in 1911, with additional fortifications in concrete, including two observation turrets in the fort's caponiers with machine guns. In 1914 the fort contained no more than ten guns on the rampart and ten on the caponiers. During the First World War the fort fired on the Plateau d'Avron with ten guns of 12 and 15 cm caliber. In 1939 and 1940 the fort was used for anti-aircraft artillery. The fort's caserne was burned in July 1944.The Fort de Champigny was taken out of military service in 1965. It was placed on the Supplemental Inventory of the Monuments Historiques in 1979. It has been under restoration since 1984, and is to serve as a youth center.
