The Eddy Cortés National Gymnasium (Spanish: Gimnasio Nacional Eddy Cortés), better known as National Gymnasium (Spanish: Gimnasio Nacional), is a sports arena located in La Sabana Metropolitan Park, San José, Costa Rica. Its capacity is over 4,000.

La Sabana Metropolitan Park (Spanish: Parque Metropolitano La Sabana) is located in downtown San José, Costa Rica. It is the country's largest and most significant urban park. La Sabana is considered "the lungs of San José" by Costa Ricans.

The National Stadium of Costa Rica (Spanish: Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica) is a multi-purpose stadium in La Sabana Metropolitan Park, San José, Costa Rica. It is the first modern sport and event arena to be built in Central America. The stadium was completed in 2011 and officially opened its doors to the public on March 26 that year, with a capacity of 35,175 seats. The stadium replaced the original National Stadium, and is the home stadium of the Costa Rica national football team.It has one high-definition 160-square-metre (1,700 sq ft) screen, located in the southern section of the stadium, along with a smaller monochromatic screen, and another monochromatic screen of the same dimensions in the northern section.It was used to host matches during the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, including the opening game, the third place match and the Final. It was used to host matches during the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, including the opening game and the Final. It hosted the first show of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour due to the green credentials of the country.

Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (Costa Rica National Stadium) was a multi-use stadium in La Sabana, San José, Costa Rica. It was used mostly for football matches. The stadium held 25,000 and was built in 1924. It was replaced by the current National Stadium in 2011.The stadium played host to Amnesty International's Human Rights Now! Benefit Concert on September 13, 1988. The show was headlined by Sting and Peter Gabriel and also featured Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tracy Chapman, Youssou N'Dour and Guadalupe Urbina.

Hospital Nacional de Niños is a national pediatric hospital in San José, Costa Rica. It has provided medical care to children in the country since its founding in 1845.In 1945 and as one of the events to celebrate the centennial of the San José Hospital, a new ward opened with a capacity of 140 beds. The polio epidemic that struck the child population in Costa Rica in 1954 caused the hospital to face serious problems generated by the unexpected rise in the number of patients. The hospital is recognized by HEALTH Without Damage, an international coalition of over 473 organizations in 53 countries working to transform the field of health care. The hospital has approximately 250 beds and treats children under the age of 13.

The radiotherapy accident in Costa Rica occurred with the Alcyon II radiotherapy unit at San Juan de Dios Hospital in San José, Costa Rica. It was related to a cobalt-60 source that was being used for radiotherapy in 1996. An accidental overexposure of radiotherapy patients treated during August and September 1996 was detected. During the calibration process done after the change of 60Co source on 22 August 1996, a mistake was made in calculating the dose rate, leading to severe overexposure of patients. The error of calibration was detected on 27 December 1997. In the course of the accident, 114 patients received an overdose of radiation and 13 died of radiation-related injuries.In 2001, the radiophysicist whose mistake caused the radiation overdoses was charged with 16 culpable homicides and sentenced to six years in prison.
