Lawley Bank railway station was a station to the north of Horsehay, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1859 and closed in 1962.

The Telford Steam Railway (TSR) is a heritage railway located at Horsehay, Telford in Shropshire, England, formed in 1976. The railway is operated by volunteers on Sundays and Bank Holidays from Easter to the end of September, and at Christmas. Its official business name is the Telford Horsehay Steam Trust (THST), and it is a registered charity.

Horsehay and Dawley railway station was a station in Horsehay, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1859, closed in 1962, then reopened in 1976 as part of the Telford Steam Railway. Originally, the station was on the former Wellington and Severn Junction railway. It consisted of one platform with a signal box at the end of the platform controlling access to the goods yard. It is now the working base of the Telford Steam Railway.

The Telford steam tram at the Telford Steam Railway of the Telford Horsehay Steam Trust, runs on a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge track. This follows a short circular route, part of which runs near to the lake known as Horsehay Pool. Prior to the completion of the circle after arriving near the loco shed, it paused very briefly before returning, coach first, to the starting point near the entrance. The tram and 16-seat coach were built by Alan Keef Ltd for the Telford Development Corporation, first running on Saturday 8 September 1979. The tram and coach originally ran in Telford Town Park alongside Randlay Pool, on about 300 yd (270 m) of the trackbed of the former Coalport Branch Line, on the Telford Town Tramway which was opened by the Reverend W. Awdry, who named the tram Thomas, on 9 April 1980 but did not last very long there. The tram moved to its present site in the mid-1980s. Steam trams were at one time a fairly familiar sight, as in the last years of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century, they were used in several towns and cities in the UK. Most were eventually replaced by electric trams. The steam tram at the Telford Steam Railway, is one of the very few working examples, and quite possibly the only narrow gauge one in the UK. It is 4-wheeled and Pontie Steam Plant Ltd of Peterborough built its vertical boiler and 5+1⁄4 in (130 mm) x 10 in (250 mm) cylinder.

Lawley and Overdale is a civil parish in Telford and Wrekin unitary area, in the ceremonial county of Shropshire, England. The parish includes an area of central and western Telford, south of the M54 motorway. Places in the parish are Lawley, Overdale, The Rock, Old Park, and Newdale. In 2021 the parish had a population of 12,173. The parish was formed on 1 April 1988. It has a parish council, the lowest level of local government in England. There are eight councillors, elected to represent Lawley Common ward (1 councillor), Lawley East ward (3), Lawley West ward (1), Overdale and The Rock ward (2) and Town Centre ward (1). As of 2024 there are 3 listed buildings in Lawley and Overdale, all at grade II.

New Dale Halt railway station was a station to the south of Ketley, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1934 and closed in 1962.

Newdale, rebuilt as New Dale is an area of Telford in the borough of Telford and Wrekin in Shropshire, England. It is located northwest of the town centre of Telford. It forms part of the Lawley and Overdale civil parish.

The Rock is an area of Telford in the Telford and Wrekin borough of Shropshire, England. It is a ward of the Lawley and Overdale civil parish.

Dawley Bank is a former mining village and suburb of Telford and Dawley in the borough of Telford and Wrekin in Shropshire, England. It is part of the civil parish of Lawley and Overdale.

Horsehay is a suburban village on the western outskirts of Dawley, which, along with several other towns and villages, now forms part of the new town of Telford in Shropshire, England. Horsehay lies in the Dawley Hamlets parish, and on the northern edge of the Ironbridge Gorge area. Horsehay used to have four pubs, The Station Inn, The Forester Arms, the All Labour In Vain and the Travellers Joy, however The Station Inn closed down in 2012, and the All Labour In Vain closed in 2014. It also has a Methodist Chapel, a village hall, a post office, and a golf course complete with restaurant.

Ketley Town Halt railway station was a station in Ketley, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1936 and closed in 1962.The station was located on the Severn Valley Line, which ran from Hartlebury to Shrewsbury. The station was a small halt, with minimal facilities and was primarily used by local residents and commuters. The station had a single platform, with a small shelter for passengers. The station was closed as part of the Beeching cuts, a process of rationalisation of the British railway system in the 1960s. The Severn Valley Line was deemed uneconomical to run and the station, along with many others on the line, was closed.

The Springwell Pit disaster occurred on 6 December 1872 at Springwell coal mining pit near Dawley, Shropshire (now part of Telford). Miners at the pit would grab hold of a chain running the depth of the mine shaft and be hoisted 150 ft to the surface. On this day, eight miners clung to the chain. When 50 ft from the base of the lower part of the chain snapped, causing the miners to fall to the base of the shaft, before the chain, estimated to weigh 1 tonne, landed on top of them. All of them were killed instantly, except one, who died shortly after being brought to the surface.
