Bénodet

The Odet (French pronunciation: [ɔdɛ]; Breton: Oded) is a river in western France (Finistère department), which runs from Saint-Goazec (near Leuhan, in the Montagnes Noires of Brittany) into the Atlantic Ocean at Bénodet. The name of the town of Bénodet comes from the river; ben means river mouth in Breton. The river runs past, or through, the towns of Bénodet, Combrit, Plomelin, Quimper, Ergué-Gabéric, Briec-de-l'Odet, Langolen, Coray, Trégourez, Leuhan and Saint-Goazec. It is 62.7 km (39.0 mi) long and its basin area is 724 km2 (280 sq mi). The river is popular with kayakers. In 2021, an article published in the Bulletin of the French Prehistoric Society reported that archaeologists had interpreted the Saint-Bélec slab, a 4,000-year-old stone rediscovered in 2014, as a three-dimensional representation of the Odet valley. This would make the Saint-Bélec slab the oldest known map of a territory in the world. According to the authors, the map probably wasn’t used for navigation, but rather to show the political power and territorial extent of a local ruler’s domain of the early Bronze age. Measures of the slab were 2.2 metres long and 1.53 metres wide.

Île-Tudy (French pronunciation: [il tydi]; Breton: Enez-Tudi) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in northwestern France.

Loctudy (French pronunciation: [lɔktydi]; Breton: Loktudi) is a fishing port and seaside resort in Brittany, France, at the mouth of the Pont-l'Abbé river estuary. The commune is in the Finistère department in northwestern France. Situated on the peninsula of Penmarc'h in the far southwestern part of Lower Brittany, it preserves elements of old Breton culture, and the Breton language is still in use. The name means "place or hermitage of St Tudy". There is controversy concerning the identity of the saint: both Tudy of Landevennec and Tudwal have been suggested. The eleventh-century church is dedicated to St Tudy. The port grew because of its sheltered position protected from the prevailing southwest winds. The fishing port is important (2004-6: around 7000 tonnes per annum landed), and specializes in langoustines, called "demoiselles de Loctudy". The four ports of the Penmarc'h peninsula (Guilvinec, Saint Guénolé Penmarc'h, Loctudy and Lesconil) land 40 000 tonnes per year and constitute the largest fishery in France. A marina was constructed in 1991 and had (2006) 661 moorings. Loctudy is twinned with the towns of Fishguard in Pembrokeshire, Wales and Ribadeo in Galicia, Spain.

Plomelin (French pronunciation: [plɔmlɛ̃]; Ploveilh in Breton) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. It lies near the Odet river, about 7 km (4.3 mi) southwest of Quimper.

Notre-Dame de Kerbader (French: Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerbader; Breton: Chapel Itron-Varia Kerbader) is a chapel in the commune of Fouesnant, Brittany in northwest France. The chapel is also known as "Our Lady of the Snows" (from the Breton Itron Varia an erc'h) or "Our Lady of Mercy" (Itron Varia an nec'h). It was built on the site of an earlier church, between the 17th and 18th centuries, to a cruciform floorplan. In 1792, during the Fouesnant uprising against the revolutionary government of the Legislative Assembly, a group of armed farmers gathered at the church. The group were defeated by the National Guard and its leader captured, tried and guillotined at Quimper in 1793. The building was renovated in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with new stained glass windows unveiled in 2009. Next to the church stands a cross, Croix de Kernoac'h, which was renovated in 2004. Also nearby is a holy well, La fontaine de Kerbader, at which an annual pardon ceremony traditionally takes place during August.

The Parc botanique de Cornouaille (4 hectares) is a botanical garden located in Kerlever, Combrit, Finistère, Brittany, France. It is open daily in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden was established by Jean-Pierre Gueguen in 1981. Today it contains about 3500 plant varieties, with good collections of camellias (550 varieties), rhododendrons (400), magnolias (85), azaleas (80), and hortensias (60). Plantings of interest include Acer trautvetteri, Camellia caudata, Cleyera japonica, Corylus jacquemontii, Distylium racemosum, Embothrium coccineum, Enkianthus perulatus, Magnolia rostrata, and Rhododendron campylocarpum, as well as an aquatic garden (7,000 square metres or 75,300 square feet). The park also contains a mineral museum displaying 1200 specimens from the Armorican Massif and elsewhere.

Fouesnant (French pronunciation: [fwɛnɑ̃]; Fouenant or Fouen in Breton) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. Fouesnant is bordered to the south by the Baie de La Forêt. It lies on the south coast of Finistère and is bordered by the communes of: Bénodet and Pleuven to the west, Saint-Évarzec to the north, and La Forêt-Fouesnant to the east. It has 15 km of coastline on its south side, with a long beach running west between the headlands of Beg-Meil and Mousterlin, as well as Cap-Coz just to the east at the top of the Baie de la Foret, making it a tourist destination. The town is in a very fertile area, is home to a number of orchards and is regarded as the source of the best Breton cider. This is celebrated each July with the Fete des Pommiers (Festival of the Apple Trees), an event that takes over the town centre with music, dance and various competitions. Fouesnant hosts a street market in and around the town square every Friday morning. The Glénan Islands, approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) offshore, are administratively part of the commune of Fouesnant.

The canton of Fouesnant is an administrative division of the Finistère department, northwestern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Fouesnant. It consists of the following communes:
