Pontypridd (Welsh pronunciation: [ˌpɔntəˈpriːð]) (colloquially: "Ponty") is a town and a community in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.

The Municipal Buildings (Welsh: Adeiladau Bwrdeistrefol Pontypridd) is a municipal building located on Gelliwastad Road, Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf in Wales. The structure, which is currently used as a register office, is a Grade II* listed building.

The Rhondda line is a commuter railway line in South Wales from Cardiff to Treherbert. The line follows the Merthyr line as far as Pontypridd, where it then diverges to continue along the Rhondda Valley.

Pontypridd railway station serves the town of Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located at the junction of the Merthyr line and the Rhondda line and has for many years been the only station serving the town. Until the 1930s, Pontypridd had two other stations. One, just behind the present station, was known as Pontypridd Graig. It closed in 1930. The other, Pontypridd Tram Road, serving the former Pontypridd to Newport line, closed in 1922. It was located near where this line crossed the 'Broadway' in Treforest.

The Old Bridge (Welsh: Yr Hen Bont), which is now also known as the William Edwards Bridge or Pontypridd Bridge, was originally known as the New Bridge or Newbridge, is an arched single-span footbridge that spans the River Taff at Pontypridd in Wales. The bridge was built by William Edwards and was completed in 1756. The bridge now has statutory protection as a scheduled ancient monument and is grade I listed.

Ynysangharad War Memorial Park is located in the town of Pontypridd, Wales. The area that now makes up the park was bought by the people of Pontypridd in 1919 after workers raised the money to have the park established. It was originally designed for those who lived in the surrounding area to have somewhere to relax from their work lives. The park is designated Grade II on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. Due to the fact that the River Rhondda meets the River Taff at one corner of the park it is prone to flooding, one flood in 1929 left the park severely flooded and led to the original layout of the park being changed to what it is today with the memorials being placed way from the River Taff. The memorials in the park include the War Memorial and the Evan and James James statues, as well as some smaller ones. A cricket ground, Ynysangharad Park, is located within the park. There is also a lido that was reopened on 31 August 2015 after it received funding, after being closed for two decades.

The 2024 Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod (Welsh: Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru Rhondda Cynon Taf 2024) was held in Pontypridd and across the Rhondda Cynon Taf valleys, Wales, from 3 to 10 August 2024. This marked the first time the National Eisteddfod of Wales had been held in the area since 1956. The 2024 event attracted over 186,000 attendees and was also described as the "the greenest Eisteddfod ever".

Graig is a historic district of the town of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. It is also the name of an electoral ward for the town and county councils. Graig was historically referred to as 'Rhiw' (hill). The area is closely associated with coal mining and consists largely of terraced housing. Notable collieries within the area include - Gelli-whion (Gelliwion) Colliery, Newbridge Colliery (1844), Pen-y-rhiw (Penrhiw) Colliery (c1870) and Pontypridd Maritime Collieries (1841). Graig today is also home to the Dewi Sant Hospital.

Ynysangharad Park is a cricket ground in the centre of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. The ground was first established in 1870, but the first recorded match on the ground was in 1924, when Glamorgan played their first first-class match there against Derbyshire. Glamorgan played 43 first-class matches at the ground between 1926 and 1996, playing their final first-class match there against the Pakistanis during their tour of England.The ground has also held List-A matches. The first List-A match came in the 1970 John Player League between Glamorgan and Essex. Between 1970 and 1999, the ground played host to 9 List-A matches, the last of which saw Glamorgan play Surrey in the 1999 National League.As well as hosting first-class and List-A cricket, the ground has also held Minor counties matches for Wales Minor Counties. Their first match at the ground came in the 1995 Minor Counties Championship against Oxfordshire. Wales Minor Counties played 5 matches there in the Minor Counties Championship between 1995 and 2004, the last of which saw them play Devon.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Pontypridd Cricket Club.

Dewi Sant Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Dewi Sant) is a small hospital on Albert Road, in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is managed by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Pontypridd Rugby Football Club (Welsh: Clwb Rygbi Pontypridd) are a rugby union team from Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. They compete in the Indigo Group Premiership, which they won for four consecutive seasons between 2012 and 2015, and the Specsavers National Cup, which they have won on 6 occasions, with the most recent being in 2014. Established in 1876, Pontypridd RFC play their home games on the banks of the River Rhondda, at Sardis Road, Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf in Wales, with their age-grade section playing at Taff Vale Park in Pontypridd, and Pontypridd High School Fields in nearby Cilfynydd. Pontypridd RFC experienced a successful period during the 1990s under head coach, Dennis John, referred to as the club's "Golden Age", and enjoyed further success between 2001 and 2003 with the appointment of head coach, Lynn Howells. The transition to Regional Rugby in Wales in 2003 saw the downgrading of Pontypridd to a semi-professional team, followed by financial difficulties for the club, and eventual demise of Pontypridd's "Celtic Warriors" region.Pontypridd RFC have since refinanced and restructured, and, despite a mooted stadium sale, continue to be regarded as a beacon for rugby in the south Wales Valleys.Pontypridd RFC have produced numerous players for the Wales national rugby union team and have long thrived on the 'unfashionable club' tag.

Pontypridd Graig railway station was a railway station located in the South Wales valleys town of Pontypridd, on the Barry Railway. Although the line was opened for mineral traffic on 8 July 1889 to take coal from Rhondda to the Docks, the passenger service did not start until 16 March 1896 after much lobbying from local residents along the line. On that date, Barry services commenced between the Taff Vale station at Porth and Barry where the train terminated in the bay platform (Platform 4). On 7 June 1897, a new passenger service began between Pontypridd and Cardiff Clarence Road via St Fagans and Cardiff Riverside. Train journeys commenced at Pontypridd because the Taff Vale was not willing to allow direct competition with its own services from Porth to Cardiff Queen Street. The station was closed to passengers on 10 July 1930 by the GWR who diverted trains via Treforest Junction to its main station at Pontypridd Central.
