Castle Cary () is a market town and civil parish in south Somerset, England, 5 miles (8 km) north west of Wincanton and 8 miles (12.9 km) south of Shepton Mallet, at the foot of Lodge Hill and on the River Cary, a tributary of the Parrett.

In July 2011, the school became an Academy. The redbrick Neo-Georgian main school building was completed in 1940 with additional classrooms for Science, Technology, Modern Languages, Art, ICT and a block for mathematics being added in the 1970/90s. A new £1.7 million Sports Centre was completed in 2005.In the school's most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place between the 2nd and 3rd March 2022, a 'good' rating was given for every assessed category including overall effectiveness.The associated sixth form college for Ansford Academy is Strode College.

Somerton and Frome is a constituency in Somerset represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2023 by Sarah Dyke of the Liberal Democrats. It was formerly represented by David Warburton, who was elected as a Conservative, but latterly sat as an Independent after losing the Conservative whip in April 2022 following allegations of misconduct. Warburton resigned as an MP on 17 June 2023, thus triggering the first by-election in this constituency since its creation at the 1983 general election. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to major boundary changes, with the town of Frome and surrounding rural areas in the (former) District of Mendip being incorporated into the newly created constituency of Frome and East Somerset. To partly compensate, the towns of Glastonbury and Street will be transferred in from the constituency of Wells (to be renamed Wells and Mendip Hills). As a consequence, the constituency will be renamed Glastonbury and Somerton, to be first contested at the next general election.

The station is 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the market town of Castle Cary and 5 miles (8 km) south of Shepton Mallet in a largely rural area of Somerset, England.

Hadspen Quarry is a stone quarry in Somerset, England. It is shown on Ordnance Survey maps for 1888–90, and may have been in operation for a considerable period before that.It supplies natural stone walling throughout the West Country. The products include coursed, coursed random and random rubble walling. The stone is still split and dressed at the quarry located close to Hadspen house and garden in the small village of Hadspen, within the parish of Pitcombe just outside Castle Cary. This golden colour limestone is seen in buildings in western Dorset and the surrounding areas, as can be seen at the Fleet Street site in Beaminster. Other products include name plaques, sawn ashlar quoins and capping stones. The stone is an Inferior Oolite of the Garantiana Beds, dating back to the Middle Jurassic.In 2007 Somerset County Council agreed a proposal to extend the size of the quarry by 0.3 hectares (0.74 acres).

Hadspen House of Hadspen, Somerset, England is built of Cary stone, mined from Hadspen Quarry. The stone is a soft limestone known for its deep burnt-orange colour. It is an inferior oolite of the Garantiana Beds and dates to the Middle Jurassic. The house has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II* listed building.
