Haldenstein

Haldenstein railway station is a railway station in the northern part of the municipality of Chur, in the Swiss canton of Grisons. The station is on the Rhaetian Railway's 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Landquart–Thusis line. The Swiss Federal Railways Chur–Rorschach line runs parallel but has no intermediate stops between Chur and Landquart. The station serves the municipality of Haldenstein, located on the other side of the River Rhine.

The two-track SBB line runs parallel but has no intermediate stops between Chur and Landquart.

Chur railway station (German: Bahnhof Chur) serves the town of Chur, capital of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Opened in 1858, it is the most important railway junction in Graubünden. The station is the terminus of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) standard-gauge main line from Zürich, and is also one of the most important stations on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) metre-gauge network.Since 1986, on top of it one finds the central Grisonian PostAuto/AutoDaPosta bus terminal. SBB InterCity, InterRegio, and RegioExpress services stop at the station, alongside Rhaetian Railway InterRegio, RegioExpress and Regio services. The station is also served by several Deutsche Bahn InterCity Express trains and by the Glacier Express. Finally, local service is provided by both the St. Gallen and Chur S-Bahn networks.

The Plessur is a river, 33 km (21 mi) long, and a right tributary of the Rhine running through the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Its head is near Arosa in the Plessur Range. It then flows through the Schanfigg valley before emptying into the Rhine at Chur. The Langwieser Viaduct, an early reinforced concrete railway bridge constructed in 1914, spans the Plessur near Langwies. Its main tributaries include the Rabiosa, the Welschtobelbach, Sapünerbach and Fondeierbach.

The city, which is located on the right bank of the Rhine, is reputedly the oldest town of Switzerland.The official language of Chur is German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of Alemannic, known as Grisonian German. Romansh and Italian are significantly spoken in the city as a result of the trilingual identity of the canton. On 1 January 2020, the former municipality of Maladers merged into Chur, and on 1 January 2021, Haldenstein also merged.
