Kilmarnock Sheriff Court

The Old Sheriff Court is a judicial building on St Marnock Street in Kilmarnock in Scotland. The building, which currently accommodates the procurator fiscal's office, is a Category B listed building.

The Titchfield Street drill hall is a former military installation in Kilmarnock.

Between 9:00pm and 9:30pm on Monday 14 July 2025, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire on King Street, the main shopping street in the town of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire which was initially started on the adjacent Sandbed Street. By the time the Scottish Fire and Rescue service arrived at the scene of the fire, it was already well established and had begun spreading to adjacent buildings. Fire crews remained on the scene until 16 July 2025, two days following the outbreak of the fire, confirming that they were confident the fire was fully extinguished by 16 July but crews would continue to monitor the site to eliminate any potential for fire to reignite. Victoria Buildings, a Category C listed building located at 61-63 King Street, suffered serious damage as a result of the fire, and collapsed both internally and at the front facade of the building which faced onto King Street. Despite the severity of the fire and subsequent collapse of Victoria Buildings, there were no reported injuries. A subsequent criminal investigation was launched by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police Scotland. Two 12-year-old boys were arrested and charged on the 17 and 18 July and will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court later in the month. Two 11-year-old boys were spoken to by Police Scotland in connection to the fire, and a report will be submitted to relevant authorities.

Kilmarnock Cross is a public square in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland . In Rambles Around Kilmarnock (1875) Archibald R Adamson described it as "most spacious, although of a most peculiar form, having no less than seven streets branching off it. In the centre stands a marble statue of Sir James Shaw, who rose from a humble position to that of Lord Mayor of London", the square is part of the area nicknamed "the town" by locals. The seven streets (in clockwise order starting from the north) were Portland Street, Fore Street, Regent Street, Duke Street, Waterloo Street, King Street and Bank Street, and just north of Bank Street, but opening more on to Portland Street than the Cross itself, Croft Street. The heavy traffic in the town led to redevelopments in the 1970s which saw all traffic through this area of the town being stopped completely.

Howard Park is a public park in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland. It was previously known as Barbadoes Green. The roots of Kilmarnock Football Club may be traced back to the park.Lady's Walk in the park commemorates the grief-stricken walks taken by the young widow of the Earl of Kilmarnock, who was sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered in London in 1746. His sentence was later commuted to beheading, and his widow died a year after his execution.The land on which Howard Park is situated was given to Kilmarnock by the Howard De Walden family. It is a medium-sized park; other parks in the area, such as Kay Park, are much larger. Nearby is the site of the Saxone shoe factory, formerly on Titchfield Street; the factory was replaced by the Galleon Leisure Centre in 1986. The Centre, in turn, replaced the Corporation Baths (which had been open since 1940). In October 2009, the play area in the park (which incorporated a variety of roundabouts, swings, climbing frames and sandboxes) was renovated. The old, fenced-off play park was removed and replaced with a modern, larger park extending into the old football field in the centre of the park There is a bicycle path around the park, suitable for cyclists of all ages. Three parallel bridges connect the park to other areas of Kilmarnock, crossing the River Irvine. On one side of the park is a long hill, which slopes down to the central area of the park and the play area. The park is surrounded by a residential area, it has a variety of playground equipment and a new sport/exercise area.

The George Hotel is a former 5–star hotel located in Kilmarnock, Scotland. The building was built in the 19th century and is "B" Listed. The building is situated on land at the top of Portland Street. This land was once the home of Kilmarnock Bowling Club. It was one of the top hotels in the area. The George was Kilmarnock's 5-star hotel. The hotel closed in 1920. There were plans for the hotel to be demolished when the Town Council purchased the property, but the plans were changed. The same year as the George Hotel closed part of the building was adapted and used as the George Cinema. The three-story building still remains today. The building still looks similar to the way it did in the days of the George Hotel. Nowadays the building is used by Mason Murphy as a furniture shop and the rest of the property is a disco.

Kilmarnock railway station (Scottish Gaelic: Stèisean rèile Chille Mheàrnaig) is a railway station in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is served by trains on the Glasgow South Western Line. One of the earliest railway stations in Scotland, the Kilmarnock and Troon Railway opened on 6 July 1812, until it was replaced by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway on 4 April 1843.

Kilmarnock ( kil-MAR-nək; Scots: Kilmaurnock; Scottish Gaelic: Cill Mheàrnaig, IPA: [kʲʰiːʎ ˈvaːɾnəkʲ]) is a town and former burgh in East Ayrshire situated in southwest Scotland. The town has served as the administrative centre of East Ayrshire Council since 1996 and is the regions main commercial and industrial centre.The town grew considerably during the 1870s and the towns growth subsumed the village of Bonnyton, and by the 1960s, new purpose built suburbs such as New Farm Loch were constructed to accommodate the increasing population of Kilmarnock. By mid–2020, the population of the town was estimated to be 46,970, making Kilmarnock the 14th most populated settlement in Scotland as well as the largest town in Ayrshire by population.The first passenger conveying railway in Scotland originated in Kilmarnock in 1812 as a horse-drawn 4 ft-gauge plateway and became known as the Kilmarnock and Troon Railway. The first printed collection of works by Scottish poet Robert Burns was published in 1786 in Kilmarnock. Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect, was published by John Wilson, and became known as the Kilmarnock Edition. The internationally best–selling whisky Johnnie Walker was established in the town in the 19th century and was produced and bottled at the Hill Street plant until closure in 2012, following an announcement by owners Diageo in 2009 that the plant would close as part of company restructuring.

On 4 February 2021, three separate fatal incidents occurred in Kilmarnock, Scotland. The incidents were thought to be linked and involved the same 40-year-old man, Steven Robertson. In the first incident, a woman died after being injured outside University Hospital Crosshouse. In the second incident, a woman died after being stabbed in the town. In the third incident, the man was killed in a road crash just off the A76.Armed Police Scotland officers responded to the scene at University Hospital Crosshouse before putting the site under a police lockdown. Police Scotland's Ayrshire division had ruled out any connection to the attacks being related to terrorism.On 5 February 2021, the police confirmed that a woman who had been injured outside University Hospital Crosshouse had died as a result of her injuries, whilst her daughter, a 24-year-old woman, who was stabbed at Portland Street also died as a result of her injuries. The man also later died from his injuries as a result of crashing his car on a road off the A76.The perpetrator, Steven Robertson, was later identified, and it was reported that he killed his ex-wife Emma Coupland, and step-daughter, Nicole Anderson.
