Hadongkwan

Myeongdong (Korean: 명동; Hanja: 明洞; lit. 'bright cave' or 'bright tunnel') is a dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea between Chungmu-ro, Eulji-ro, and Namdaemun-ro. It covers 0.99km² with a population of 3,409 and is mostly a commercial area, being one of Seoul's main shopping, parade route and tourism districts. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Myeong-dong was listed as the ninth most expensive shopping street in the world. The area is known for its two historically significant sites, namely the Myeongdong Cathedral and the Myeongdong Nanta Theatre.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul (Latin: Archidioecesis Seulensis, Korean: 서울대교구) is a Metropolitan archdiocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church comprising the metropolitan area of Seoul, South Korea, whose province comprises parts of South Korea (which has two more provinces) and all North Korea, yet depends on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Its Metropolitan bishop as the Archbishop of Seoul resides at his Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung-gu, Seoul. The Archbishop of Seoul is also the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Pyongyang in North Korea. There are 57 Catholic secretly active parishes in North Korea, but due to the current regime in place, no Catholic priests are permitted permanent residency at current time.

The Cathedral Church of Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception (Latin: Ecclesia Cathedralis Nostrae Dominae de Immaculatae Conceptionis; Korean: 천주교 서울대교구 주교좌 명동대성당; RR: Cheonjugyo Seoul-daegyogu Jugyo-jwa Myeongdong-daeseongdang), informally known as Myeongdong Cathedral, is the national cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul. Located in the Myeongdong neighborhood of Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Seoul Archbishop Peter Chung Soon-taick, the highest Roman Catholic prelate of the nation. It is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception honored as the principal Patroness of Korea by a Pontifical decree accorded by Pope Gregory XVI in 1841. The cathedral serves as a community landmark, tourist attraction, and a notable symbol of Roman Catholicism in Korea. The Korean government assigned the cathedral as a historic site (No. # 258) on 22 November 1977, making it a cultural property and asset of the country.

Embassy of China in Seoul（Chinese: 中国驻韩国大使馆 ; Korean: 주 대한민국 중화인민공화국대사관）, is the official diplomatic mission of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Korea. The embassy is located at 83-7 2nd St, Myeong-dong District, Seoul. The current ambassador is Xing Haiming. It was originally purchased by Qing merchants and built as the "Qing Merchant Guild Hall". In 1883, it was renamed to the "Qing Mansion". In 1885, when Yuan Shikai went to Korea to negotiate trade matters, it was renamed again to the "Prime Minister's Office".

Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station (을지로입구역) is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 2. The station is located on the north end of the Myeongdong shopping district and is the station closest to the main branch of the Lotte Department Store.

Myeongdong Station is a station on the Seoul Subway Line 4. This station is located in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Hyeminseo (Korean: 혜민서; Hanja: 惠民署; MR: Hyeminsŏ) was the medical authority of the Joseon Dynasty in Seoul (then "Hanseong"), Korea. The officers were in charge of the treatment of commoners and medicine. In 1392, the year of the foundation of Joseon, the organ was established to succeed the Hyemingoguk (혜민고국; 惠民庫局), the former medical institution of Goryeo. In 1414, its name became Hyeminguk, and then finally changed to the name Hyeminseo in 1466 under the reign of Sejo of Joseon. It was abolished in 1882. The officers were in charge of producing medicines, teaching, and researching Korean medicine. Generally, four people were put to as the disciplines. Bureaucrats of Hyeminseo were also appointed through the gwageo recruitment examination. Hyeminseo aimed to benefit the people but its coverage was limited to commoners living in Hanyang. There was another medical authority called Hwarinseo. Collectively, the two were referred to as Yanguisa (양의사; 兩醫司; lit. "the two medical authorities").

Keijō Post Office (京城郵便局, Korean: 경성우편국) was a post office building in Keijō (Seoul), Korea, Empire of Japan from 1915 to 1957. The building was inherited by the Seoul Central Post Office after the 1945 liberation of Korea, but significantly damaged during the 1950–1953 Korean War. It was torn down and replaced with a different building around 1957. Seoul Central Post Office still operates on the location of this building today.

The Daeyeonggak Hotel fire was a skyscraper fire in Seoul, South Korea on 25 December 1971, that killed 164 people and injured 63 people. It remains the deadliest hotel fire in history.

Youngnak (YN) Presbyterian Church was founded in Seoul on 2 December 1945 by 1992 Templeton Prize recipient, Kyung-Chik Han. Inaugurated by twenty-seven refugees from Soviet-occupied Korea, Youngnak steadily increased in membership as more refugees sought religious freedom below the 38th parallel.On 24 March 1949, ground was broken for a new facility to replace the building and tent that had become too small for the growing congregation. By the time the new church building was completed in May 1950, membership had increased to over 4,000. By 1992, when Rev. Han was awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, membership had grown to 60,000 (making it, at that time, the largest Presbyterian congregation in the world), excluding 500 sister churches planted by members of the original congregation.In 1998, under the auspices of Rev. Han, who at the time was a Pastor Emeritus, Youngnak gained an English language ministry, International Worship in English, which was founded by an American missionary to Korea, Bill Majors. For his efforts, Majors was made an Honorary Citizen of Seoul in 2005.

International Worship in English (IWE - pronounced "I" "WE") is a Christian ministry of Youngnak Presbyterian Church in Myeongdong Seoul, South Korea that in English offers traditional worship at 10am and contemporary worship at 3:30pm on Sundays. English worship in two different styles, small group Bible studies, counseling, fellowship, and retreats are provided for the international community in the greater Seoul area. The ministry is like a church (mega-church or KM) within a church (international church or EM). It was founded on Easter in 1998 by a volunteer pastor, Bill Majors, who, for his efforts, was made an Honorary Citizen of Seoul (2005). Youngnak Presbyterian Church was founded by Rev. Kyung-Chik Han, winner of the 1992 Templeton Prize, in 1945. Rev. Han, who died in 2000, lived to see the foundation of an English-language ministry at his church. Youngnak Presbyterian Church's IWE has a website which is updated weekly, listed below in the external links section. In 2012, Bill Majors ended his ministry at Youngnak IWE. Thereafter, pastor Paul Song, pastor Christine Han (interim), and pastor Issac Chang have served as the Lead Pastor position. Currently pastor Justin Yoon Ki Kim is leading the congregation. English services in Korean churches are popular, with almost all the large churches having a service in English. They are to be a "home away from home" for those who come to Korea from abroad. IWE worship services are open to be attended both by people who do not speak Korean (people from abroad) and by Koreans who attend for many reasons.

HY Tailor or Han Young Tailor (Korean: 한영양복점; RR: Hanyeong yangbokjeom) is a historic tailor shop in Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1932, and specializes in customized suits. In 2012, it was designated a Seoul Future Heritage. It is also a designated Oraegage, a store of historic value. The shop has been visited by both major South Korean politicians, including presidents Kim Dae-jung and Moon Jae-in, and by foreign politicians, including Japanese prime minister Tomiichi Murayama. The store was established by a Park Jeong-jae (박정재). During the 1950–1953 Korean War, the business went on hiatus as Park fled to Busan for safety. Lee Seong-ho (이성호) took over the business in 1964, and moved it to a new location in 1968. In 1995, Lee passed the business onto his son, Lee Han-yeol (이한열). In 2008, the business was jointly acquired by Choi Hong-gap (최홍갑) and Kim Gil-su (김길수). Kim opened another location of the business in 2011, within the Pacific Hotel. Choi's location closed in 2013. In 2017, it was reported that the business was having difficulty obtaining a successor. The store reportedly encountered some difficulty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
