Sageville is a city in Dubuque County, Iowa, United States. The population was 95 at the time of the 2020 census, down from 203 in 2000.

The Couler Valley is a valley near Dubuque, Iowa, and has the Bee Branch Creek, previously known as the Couler Creek, located in it. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) long. It is found in the Driftless Area.

The Little Maquoketa River Mounds State Preserve is an Iowa state owned archaeological site and natural area located within the city of Sageville, just north of Dubuque, on U.S. Highway 52. It is high up on a limestone ridge above the Little Maquoketa River, not too far from the river's mouth with the Upper Mississippi River. Covering about 42 acres (170,000 m2), it contains a fenced-in 3-acre (12,000 m2) burial area with 32 mounds. The graves have been related to the Late Woodland culture, about AD 700-1200. Significant consultation went on with Native American tribes regarding the establishment of the preserve. The land was purchased by the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1977, and in 1981, it became a state archaeological and geological preserve. By agreement with the state, the Dubuque County Conservation Board maintains and administers the area. The remainder of the preserve functions as a park with a hiking trail, featuring mature forest and a segment of native blufftop prairie. As a part of the Driftless Area of Iowa, it has some geologically interesting areas, particularly the high limestone bluffs. There is a parking lot. Access is year-round.

The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, or Marshall Park, is a 56 acres (230,000 m2) arboretum and botanical gardens established in 1980. The park's address is 3800 Arboretum Drive, Dubuque, Iowa. It is open, without charge, daily from dawn to dusk throughout the year. The arboretum is the largest in the United States staffed entirely by volunteers. About 300 community volunteers help maintain the gardens.

Four Mounds Estate Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. At the time of its nomination the district consisted of 19 resources, including 11 contributing buildings, two contributing sites, four non-contributing structures, and two non-contributing buildings. The estate is named for the four conical burial mounds that are located on the property. They are one of the historic sites, and they are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Holy Family Catholic Schools (HFCS) is a Roman Catholic school system based in Dubuque, Iowa (USA). Holy Family, which operates schools in eastern Dubuque County, is a part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dubuque. As of the 2011–2012 school year, HFCS has 1,837 students enrolled in its schools (excluding preschools).

The Little Maquoketa River is a 29.6-mile-long (47.6 km) direct tributary of the upper Mississippi River. The Little Maquoketa River is largely confined to Dubuque County, Iowa, and enters the Mississippi in the rural areas north of Dubuque. It may have previously flowed through the Couler Valley.

Cloie Branch (sometimes referred to as Cloie Creek) is a 5.4-mile-long (8.7 km) tributary of the Little Maquoketa River, rising in the northern part of the city of Asbury, in Dubuque County, Iowa. Burgeoning suburban development in the city of Asbury has encroached the upper reaches of the system. The northern end of the system is rural. Asbury's sewer outfall drains into the creek and mechanical failures have in the past lead to the discharge of only partially treated sewage.

Holy Ghost Catholic Church is a Catholic parish located within the city of Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It is part of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The church, school, rectory, and convent were listed together as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Dubuque Community School District (DCSD) is a public school district based in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. DCSD, which operates schools in eastern Dubuque County, is the seventh largest school district in Iowa. As of the 2021-2022 school year, DCSD has 10,535 students enrolled in its schools.

Emmaus Bible College is a private Bible college in Dubuque, Iowa, affiliated with the Plymouth Brethren. It offers double majors in both professional and biblical studies. It was established as Emmaus Bible School in 1941 in Toronto, Ontario, by Ed Harlow, John Smart, and Ernest Tatham. Emmaus began offering correspondence courses a year later, with the target audience being military personnel. The college relocated to Chicago, Illinois, in 1947. In 1984, it moved to Dubuque, Iowa and was renamed Emmaus Bible College. The college is in a large facility that was formerly home of Aquinas Institute of Theology, a Roman Catholic institution.
