BC Place

The closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics took place on February 28, 2010, beginning at 5:30 pm PST (01:30 UTC, March 1) at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was the first Olympic Closing Ceremony held in an indoor venue since the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.

The opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics was held on February 12, 2010, beginning at 6:00 pm PST (02:00 UTC, February 13) at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This was the first Olympic opening ceremony to be held indoors. It was directed by David Atkins.The event was officially opened by Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, the representative of Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. The opening ceremony was dedicated by the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) to Nodar Kumaritashvili, a Georgian luger who had died earlier in the day in a training run. An audience of 61,600 was in attendance at the venue, and there were an estimated 4,500 performers.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame is a museum located in BC Place Stadium, at Gate A, the main entrance to the stadium, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It collects, preserves, studies and interprets materials that relate to British Columbia's sport history, and allows researchers, writers, media members and sport historians to gain access to and appreciate BC's sporting heritage. The organization has amassed an extensive artifact and archival collection of artifacts and archival documents related to sports. The museum features galleries on BC sportspeople Terry Fox, Rick Hansen and Greg Moore. It also has several multi-sport galleries including a gallery on Aboriginal sport, the BC professional sports teams, the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, and "In Her Footsteps", a gallery focused on women in sport.

Parq Vancouver is a mixed-use development located adjacent to BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The three towers house four-star hotels JW Marriott, The Douglas (an Autograph Collection hotel), a two-floor casino, eight restaurants and lounges which seat 846, a 2,800-square-metre (30,000 sq ft) open space on level 6 and 5,800 square metres (62,000 sq ft) of event space.The two-floor casino at Parq Vancouver has 600 slot machines and 75 gaming tables, the same as at the former Edgewater Casino, which was located across the street at the Plaza of Nations. The Parq casino opened on September 29, 2017, the same day the Edgewater closed.

The Plaza of Nations was an entertainment complex located on the northeast shore of False Creek in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was part of the British Columbia Pavilion during Expo '86, and along with Science World, Canada Place, and the Roundhouse Community Centre, it had been one of the remaining physical reminders of the Expo. The sheltered plaza had a capacity of 4,500 for performances. The Plaza had been nominated by the city's Heritage Commission to be added to the Vancouver Heritage Register. Along with the Roundhouse and Science World, Plaza of Nations was considered important for demarcating the spatial extent of the world's fair, which was a transformative event for the city in its centennial year. It was decided in 2007 that the building was to be demolished completely, leaving the Edgewater Casino the only remaining structure, although it may be rebuilt or redesigned. Plaza of Nations consisted of Enterprise Hall, the West Building, the East Building, and the Covered Plaza. It has been owned by Canadian Metropolitan Properties since 1990. The site housed Edgewater Casino, until its relocation to Parq Vancouver in September 2017, and hosted various cultural and entertainment events, including the Dragon Boat Festival, and has been a popular events venue for various ethnic communities in Vancouver, as well as for corporate events. Plaza of Nations was the only outdoor sheltered plaza in Vancouver, as well as the city's only cultural venue on the waterfront. It was also an important mid-size venue for popular music acts, with artists such as Foo Fighters, Hootie & the Blowfish, Fugazi, My Morning Jacket and Garbage, performing concerts at the venue. The Plaza was used for a filming location for numerous projects, such as the Stargate SG-1 episode "2010", several episodes of The Outer Limits and Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and it served as the stadium precinct in Continuum. Planned as a temporary structure to be torn down after Expo '86, the glass roof of the plaza was found to be unsafe by city officials in November 2006, with notices to that effect being posted in the offices of the ownership on Wednesday, November 22 and subsequently the area under the canopy was fenced off for public safety. The sudden closure forced the events planned for the space to move with little or no notice (see Portobello West). In January 2007, the ownership decided that the cost of repairing the roof was too high, and opted to demolish both the roof and its two adjoining office buildings. As of November 2007, demolition of the roof has been completed and all tenants of the adjoining structures have vacated. Plans for use of the space have not been released, however the owners and the City of Vancouver are planning continued use of the plaza as a covered outdoor performance venue. As of March 2008, the west building office structure is completely demolished. The future of the site remains unclear as the east office complex has not been abandoned and the plaza concert amphitheater was rebuilt and restored with the original seating and new flooring. Oei Hong Leong bought the Plaza of Nations site from Li Ka-shing in 1989 for CAN$40 million. The site has been renamed Expo Gardens and there are plans to build 1.4 million sq ft of residential property and 700,000 sq ft of commercial and retail property.

The Edgewater Casino is a former casino that was located at 760 Pacific Blvd South Vancouver, British Columbia. It was in operation from 2005 to 2017.

Larwill Park, also known as the Cambie Street Grounds, is a former park and sporting field in what is now downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Larwill Park was the location of the bus depot of Pacific Coach Stage Lines and Greyhound Bus Lines from World War II until 1993, when the bus depot moved to Pacific Central Station. Since then, Larwill Park has been a parking lot. The Vancouver Art Gallery has selected it for the location of a new museum building.

The Beatty Street Drill Hall is a Canadian Forces armoury located at 620 Beatty Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is the home of The British Columbia Regiment (Duke of Connaught's Own), an armoured reconnaissance reserve regiment, the oldest military unit in Vancouver, and the most senior militia in the province.

Rogers Arena is a multi-purpose arena located at 800 Griffiths Way in the downtown area of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Opened in 1995, the arena was known as General Motors Place (GM Place) from its opening until July 6, 2010, when General Motors Canada ended its naming rights sponsorship and a new agreement for those rights was reached with Rogers Communications. Rogers Arena was built to replace Pacific Coliseum as Vancouver's primary indoor sports facility and in part due to the National Basketball Association (NBA) 1995 expansion into Canada, when Vancouver and Toronto were given expansion teams. It is home to the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League, the Vancouver Warriors of the National Lacrosse League and the Vancouver Titans of the Overwatch League. The arena also hosted the ice hockey events at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The name of the arena temporarily became Canada Hockey Place during the Olympics. It was previously home to the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA from 1995 to 2001. The Grizzlies spent six seasons in Vancouver before relocating to Memphis, for the 2001–02 season.

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre is a performing arts venue in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Along with the Orpheum, Vancouver Playhouse, and the Annex, it is one of four facilities operated by the Vancouver Civic Theatres on behalf of the city of Vancouver (the Playhouse adjoins the QE Theatre in the same complex). It is named after the current Canadian monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Formerly the home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, which is now based at the Orpheum, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre is the home of the Vancouver Opera and Ballet BC, in addition to hosting various other musical events year-round. The theatre has a 70′ wide x 40′ deep (21.34m x 12.19m) stage / performing area. The building holds two venues: the 2,765 seat main auditorium and the 668 seat Playhouse Theatre. The theatre was the first project by the Montreal-based architectural partnership Affleck, Desbarats, Dimakopoulos, Lebensold, Sise. It opened in July 1959.

The CBC Regional Broadcast Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, houses the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's radio and television facilities in that city. It is the second largest CBC production facility in English Canada, and the third-largest overall, after Toronto's Canadian Broadcasting Centre and Montreal's Maison Radio-Canada. The building was designed by Paul Merrick for Merrick Architecture and built in 1975.The building underwent significant renovations starting in 2006, which were completed in 2009. The expanded facility included community space to house the offices of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Vancouver International Children's Festival and the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, as well as a 4,000-square-foot (370 m2) performance studio similar to Toronto's Glenn Gould Studio. The building's address is 700 Hamilton Street in Downtown Vancouver. In addition to Vancouver's local CBC broadcast stations (CBU, CBU-FM, CBUF-FM, CBUX-FM, CBUT-DT, CBUFT-DT), the national satellite radio network CBC Radio 3 operates from the Vancouver building. It also serves as one of the originating studios for the nightly newscast The National.

Stadium–Chinatown (formerly Stadium) is an elevated station on the Expo Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the eastern entrance of the Dunsmuir Tunnel. It is one of four stations on the Expo Line that serve Downtown Vancouver. As its name implies, the station is located near both the Stadium District and Chinatown. TransLink's Compass Customer Service Centre and Lost Property Office are located at this station.
