Robison Field

Beaumont High School was a public high school in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It has been converted to a technical school, hosting a number of CTE programs today. It is part of the St. Louis Public Schools.It was closed as a high school after the final graduating class on May 14, 2014, but continues its career training mission. After Beaumont was founded in 1926, it became noted for producing several Major League Baseball players in the 1940s and 1950s. During the Civil Rights Movement, the high school's integration was featured in a documentary film that was nominated for an Academy Award. After the closure of Little Rock Central High School after its integration crisis, three members of the Little Rock Nine completed coursework at Beaumont. After the 1970s, however, the school re-segregated as an all-black school, and from the 1970s through the 1990s, the school suffered deteriorating physical conditions, security, and academics. After a renovation in the early 1990s, the school's physical condition improved, but gang violence at the school led to several incidents, including a classroom invasion by a group of armed youth in 1994. The school continued to struggle with a high dropout rate and low standardized test scores. As of 2010, the school offered its nearly 800 students a variety of athletics and activities, including football, basketball, cross country and track, Future Business Leaders of America, Health Occupation Students of America, and job shadowing programs. It also had several notable alumni, including more than a dozen Major League Baseball or NFL players, and a variety of political and education leaders. For the 2011–2012 school year, Beaumont was converted into a 10th through 12th grade technical high school and no longer accepted 9th grade students.

Fairground Park is a municipal park that opened in 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri. It was originally a privately owned facility, first used by the St. Louis Agricultural and Mechanical Association for the St. Louis Exposition from 1856 through 1902. However, the Civil War interrupted the annual fair when the Fairgrounds were used as a Union encampment known as Benton Barracks. The annual exposition ceased in 1902 as preparations for the 1904 World's Fair began.

Sportsman's Park was the name of several former Major League Baseball ballpark structures in St. Louis, Missouri. All but one of these were located on the same piece of land, at the northwest corner of Grand Boulevard and Dodier Street, on the north side of the city.

The Carter Carburetor Company was an American manufacturer of carburetors, primarily for the automobile industry. It was established in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1909 and ceased operation in 1985. Founder William Carter started experimenting with automotive carburetors while running a successful bicycle shop. His first, a cast brass model, could meter and deliver fuel more accurately than many competing units. He sold Carter Carburetor Company 13 years after founding it to American Car and Foundry Company. Carl Breer wrote that, upon learning that the Ball family (owners of Ball & Ball) was planning to leave the carburetor business, he set them up with Carter, which continued to produce the Ball & Ball basic designs used by Chrysler.

Fairground is a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The neighborhood's boundaries are defined as Glasgow Avenue on the east, west and North Florissant Avenues on the north, Warne on the west, and Fairground Park and Natural Bridge Avenue on the south.

The Chuck Berry House is the former home of American rock and roll musician Chuck Berry in St. Louis, Missouri located at 3137 Whittier Street. The house was Berry's home when he wrote and first performed the majority of songs with which he is identified, including "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956), "Too Much Monkey Business" (1956), "Rock and Roll Music" (1957), "School Day" (1957), "Sweet Little Sixteen" (1958), and "Johnny B. Goode" (1958).

O'Fallon is a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The neighborhood is located on the north side of the City of St. Louis, nestled between O'Fallon Park and Fairground Park. It is bounded by West Florissant, Harris Avenue, Algernon Street and Adelaide on the north, Pope Avenue on the northwest, Kossuth and Natural Bridge Avenues on the south via Fair Avenue, Warne on the east, and Newstead on the west. The O'Fallon neighborhood is located in the 21st Ward which is currently represented by Alderman John Collins-Muhammad.

Harrison School in St. Louis, Missouri was built in a Romanesque style in 1895. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.It was closed as a school in 1996(IN-DISPUTE). It was put up for sale by the school district in 2003 and sold in 2007. In 2008 the project was awarded four percent tax credits for its rehabilitation.

JeffVanderLou (JVL) is a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The neighborhood is situated between North Vandeventer Avenue on the northwest, Natural Bridge Avenue on the northeast, North Jefferson Avenue on the East, Delmar Boulevard on the south, and North Compton Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive on the Southwest. In a time of racial segregation following the end of slavery, JeffVanderLou was originally designated as the city's "Negro District" and was one of the only places where African Americans were allowed to own land. It is also where Sportsman's Park (later known as Busch Stadium I) stood from 1902 until 1966.

The Greater Ville is a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The area is bounded by Marcus Avenue on the northwest, Natural Bridge Avenue on the northeast, Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and St. Louis Avenue on the south via North Taylor Avenue and Sarah Street, and North Vandeventer Avenue on the southeast. The Greater Ville surrounds The Ville neighborhood.

Homer G. Phillips Hospital was the only public hospital for African Americans in St. Louis, Missouri from 1937 until 1955, when the city began to desegregate. It continued to operate after the desegregation of city hospitals, and continued to serve the Black community of St. Louis until its closure in 1979. It was named for St. Louis lawyer and civil rights advocate Homer G. Phillips who helped plan it. Located at 2601 N. Whittier Street in The Ville neighborhood, it was the first teaching hospital west of the Mississippi River to serve the city's Black residents. By 1961, Homer G. Phillips Hospital had trained the "largest number of Black doctors and nurses in the world." It closed as a full-service hospital in 1979. While vacant, it was listed as a St. Louis Landmark in 1980 and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. After being adapted for residential use, it reopened as senior living apartments in 2003.

St. Louis Colored Orphans Home is a historic orphanage for Black orphans and building in The Ville neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.. It has been known as the Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center since 1946. It serves as a shelter for children who need a temporary home and a counseling center for families in crisis. The St. Louis Colored Orphans Home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1999, for the architecture and contributions to Black history.
