Almond Valley Light Railway

The Museum of the Scottish Shale Oil Industry was created in 1990, to preserve the history of the shale industry in West Lothian and beyond. It is sited on a former mill at Millfield, near Livingston, Scotland. It is attached to the Almond Valley Heritage Centre, a large farm and play area.

Livingston railway station was a railway station which served the village of Livingston and the community of Livingston Station, both of which were later amalgamated into the new town of Livingston in West Lothian, Scotland. It was located on the Edinburgh and Bathgate Railway. The area close to the station now known as Deans and the old Livingston is now called Livingston Village.

Deans Community High School is a secondary level school, in Deans, Livingston, Scotland. The school opened in 1978, and is co-educational, with 1279 pupils.

The Scottish Institute of Theatre, Dance, Film and Television is a specialist prviate educational college and institute of further education in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The institute has received funding from West Lothian Council, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government. The institute is associated with Silver Rock Film Studios in Ireland. The Principal of the institute is Mark Langley, who was appointed in May 2024. The institute is only school in Scotland accredited by the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre (CDMT). The Institute manages Howden Park Theatre, a performance space with a 300-seater auditorium in Livingston.

West Lothian College (Scottish Gaelic: Colaiste Lodainn an Iar) is a further and higher education institution in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland. The Principal of the college is Jackie Galbraith, who was previously Vice-Principal at Ayrshire College.

Five Sisters Zoo is a privately owned zoological park located in Polbeth, West Calder. The zoo was founded by Brian and Shirley Curran and originally operated as an attraction within their garden centre on the same site. The zoo officially opened in 2005 when it was granted a licence to display wild animals to the public. The zoo is named after the Five Sisters shale bings located to the north of West Calder. Since 2012, the zoo has worked with Belgian rescue shelter Natuurhulpcentrum to rehome rescued animals including brown bears, lions and an asiatic black bear. The zoo was named the ‘Best Family Day Out’ at the 2024 Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards. The zoo is a member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA).
