La Défense

Tour Areva (previously known as Tour Framatome and Tour Fiat) is an office skyscraper designed by global architects SOM and located in La Défense, a high-rise business district, and in the commune of Courbevoie, France, west of Paris. Built in 1974, the tower is 184 m (604 feet) tall. Tour Areva is entirely black; its cladding is made of dark granite and darkened windows. Its shape is that of a perfect square prism. It is said that its architects were inspired by the black monolith in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The site where the tower was built was codenamed CB1 in La Défense initial master plan. A twin tower of Tour Areva was initially planned at the current location of the Tour Total, but was cancelled due to the 1973 oil crisis.

Tour Trinity is an office skyscraper in Puteaux, in La Défense, the business district of the Paris metropolitan area.It was designed by the architectural firm Cro & Co Architecture, directed by the architect Jean-Luc Crochon.The Tower measures 167 m and offers an area of 49,000 m2 on 33 levels.Trinity features several architectural innovations: An off-center core: the Trinity core is offset on the facade and adorned with panoramic elevators. Outdoor spaces: tree-lined terraces, loggias and balconies are accessible over the entire height of the tower. Front openings, which allow access to free air on all facades. Bioclimatic facades that optimize the supply of natural light. A minimum clear height of 2.80 m on all floors.

The Centre of New Industries and Technologies (French: Centre des nouvelles industries et technologies, abbreviated CNIT), located in Puteaux, France, is the first building ever to be developed in La Défense, west of Paris, France. It functions as a convention centre, though it also houses shops and offices such as Fnac (a media and electronics retailer found throughout France), ESSEC Business School campus for executive education, as well as a Hilton hotel.Its characteristic shape is due to the triangular plot it occupies, replacing the old Zodiac factories, on the territory of Puteaux. Opened in 1958, the CNIT underwent two restructurings, in 1988 and 2009. It is managed by the company Viparis.

Tour EDF is an office skyscraper located in La Défense, the high-rise business district west of Paris, France. The tower was built for Électricité de France (EDF), France's main electricity company, and hosts the company's offices. Tour EDF is 165 m (541 ft) tall. The skyscraper's ground shape is elliptical, with a maximum length of 70 m (230 ft) and a maximum width of 32 m (105 ft).

La Défense (French pronunciation: ​[la defɑ̃s]) is a station of the Transilien (Réseau Saint-Lazare) suburban rail lines, RER commuter rail network, Paris Métro, as well as a stop of the Île-de-France tram network. In the future, Paris Metro Line 15 of Grand Paris Express will pass through here, making it a huge railway hub. It is underneath the Grande Arche building in La Défense, the business district just west of Paris. The station is the western terminus of Métro Line 1 and connects the RER A line to the Métro Line 1 station La Défense–Grande Arche since 1992, the Line 2 tramway since 1994 and SNCF (Transilien) train station. It is also attached to a major shopping centre. There are over 25 million entries and exits each year. A temporary special SNCF service began in April 1959 (1959-04) to serve the newly-built Centre of New Industries and Technologies (CNIT); the RER entered service on 19 January 1970 (1970-01-19).Highlights on the surface nearby include the monumental Grande Arche, skyscrapers that host the headquarters of important French and foreign companies, and works of urban art such as Le Pouce by César Baldaccini. From the central esplanade the Arc de Triomphe can be seen further down the Axe historique. Until May 2004, this part of La Défense hosted an information centre of the European Union managed by the European Parliament. Like the district it serves, the station takes its name from the 19th-century statue La Défense de Paris, commemorating the Franco-Prussian War.

Tour Sequoia (previously known as tour Bull, and also known as tour SFR or tour Cegetel) is an office skyscraper located in La Défense business district just west of Paris, France. Built in 1990, the 119-metre-tall tower represents the transition between the third and the fourth generations of buildings in La Défense. It is the first tower to be built with a semi-circular design in the business district. The design later inspired other towers such as CBC, Kupka, Pacific, Société Générale twin towers, and Tour CBX. Tour Sequoia has been built in proximity with the CNIT and the Grande Arche.

Tour Total (previously known as Tour Elf from 1985 to 1999, then Tour TotalFinaElf from 1999 to 2003) is an office skyscraper located in La Défense, Courbevoie, the high-rise business district west of and adjacent to the city of Paris, France, designed in the Modern architectural style. The building now serves as headquarters for TotalEnergies, one of the six "Supermajor" oil companies in the world. Completed and opened in 1985, it is the third-tallest skyscraper in La Défense and the fourth-tallest skyscraper in the Paris area, after the Tour First and the Tour Montparnasse. Tour Total is 190 m (623 ft) tall; a three-metre (9 ft) long antenna is located on its roof, which is 187 m (614 ft) above the ground. The site on which the Tour Total was built was initially reserved for a skyscraper which would have been a twin tower to Tour Areva, but the oil shock of 1974 forced the investors to cancel their project. Tour Total is one of La Défense's third generation of skyscrapers. Architects took into account the flaws in towers of previous generations (such as Tour Areva, Tour Gan and Tour AXA). For instance, the Tour Total is much more efficient in terms of energy consumption than previous La Défense skyscrapers. Tour Total actually consists of five bodies of different heights super-imposed on each other. The tallest of those bodies has 48 floors, while the next two have 44 and 37 floors respectively.

The Centre national des arts plastiques (National Centre for Visual Arts, Cnap) is a French institution established in 1982 under the Ministry of Culture and Communication that promotes creation of visual arts. It provides assistance to artists and galleries, and manages the Fonds national d'art contemporain (FNAC; National Foundation for Contemporary Art).

The Tour Opus 12, or Tour Credit Lyonnais, is a major office block in la Défense, Paris. It was designed by architects Jean Dubuisson and Jean-Pierre Jausserand, and Valode et Pistre for restoration.

Tour Franklin is an office skyscraper located in La Défense business district situated west of Paris, France. Built in 1972, the tower of 120 metres of height belongs to the second generation of skyscrapers in La Défense. Its design consists of the merger of a smaller tower in a larger one.

Élysées–La Défense (or Élysée–La Défense or La Défense–Élysée) is an aborted project for the construction of a station on the Paris Métro.

The Tour W, formerly the Tour Winterthur, is an office skyscraper in La Défense in the commune of Puteaux west of Paris, France.The tower was designed by architects Delb, Chesnau, Verola and Lalande. At the time of its completion in 1973, the Tour Winterthur was the fourth highest building in La Défense. It was named after the Swiss insurance company Winterthur Group which owned the building until the end of the 1990s. It was later renamed to Tour W in 2013.In 1996, renovation works started in the building. In 2019, French software development company Axway installed an illuminated sign atop the façade.The Tour W has 31 floors and 9 underground floors with an overall floor area of 34,500 square metres (371,000 sq ft).The building is located near La Défense station served by the Transilien, RER, Paris Metro and tram.
