Steep Falls, Maine

The Steep Falls Library, also known historically as the Pierce Memorial Library, is a public library in the Steep Falls village in the town of Standish, Maine, USA. Built in 1917 and enlarged in 1924, it was a gift to the community of Henry Pierce, a Standish native who made a business fortune in California. The building, a handsome Colonial Revival structure designed by Edward F. Fassett, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Paine Neighborhood Historic District of Standish, Maine encompasses a small collection of rural properties that were all developed within a short period of time by members of the Paine family. Included are three late 18th-century houses and the family cemetery. The area provides a view of early settlement patterns in Maine's interior. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Northwest River is an 8.9-mile-long (14.3 km) tributary of Sebago Lake in Maine.

Fitch's General Store and House is a historic former commercial establishment on Long Hill Road in the village of East Sebago, Maine. Built about 1870 as a private residence, it became a general store in 1920 and was a mainstay of local business in the rural community. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. As of 2014, it was apparently again a private residence.

The Sticky River is a 3.4-mile-long (5.5 km) river that flows into the southern end of Sebago Lake in Standish, Maine.

The Little Ossipee River is a 33.7-mile-long (54.2 km) tributary of the Saco River in southwestern Maine, USA. It rises at the outlet of Balch Pond in the town of Newfield and flows east, passing through Shapleigh Pond and flowing past the village of North Shapleigh. Forming the boundary between Newfield and the town of Shapleigh, the river flows northeast, then reenters Newfield, passing the town center. Turning east, the river becomes the boundary between the towns of Limerick (to the north) and Waterboro (to the south). It passes through Lake Arrowhead, a reservoir with a surrounding lakeside community, then continues northeast and north into the town of Limington, where it joins the Saco near the village of East Limington.

The Capt. Josiah E. Chase Octagon House is an historic octagon house on Chase Mill Road in East Limington, Maine. Built about 1858, it is one of twelve houses of the type known to survive in the state from the period of its greatest popularity, and is one of the least-altered. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Its builder, Josiah Chase, was a seafaring ship's captain.

Sebago Lake (Sih-Bay-Goh) is the deepest and second-largest lake in the U.S. state of Maine. The lake is 316 feet (96 m) deep at its deepest point, with a mean depth of 101 feet (31 m). It is possible that Sebago is the deepest lake wholly contained within the entire New England region, although some sources say that Vermont's Lake Willoughby is slightly deeper. Along with Lake Champlain, Sebago is one of the only lakes in the area that does not consistently freeze solid during the winter months, with total ice cover only occurring for a short period of time every few winters. Sebago covers about 45 square miles (117 km2) in surface area, has a length of 14 miles (23 km) and has a shoreline length of roughly 105 miles (169 km). The surface is around 270 feet (82 m) above sea level, so the deep bottom is below the present sea level. It is in Cumberland County, and bordered by the towns of Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish and Windham. The seasonally occupied town of Frye Island is on an island in the lake. Sebago Lake and the surrounding area is known for its erratic and sudden changes in weather during all seasons, likely due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and to Mt. Washington, a very notorious extreme weather hotspot. The name comes from the Abenaki sobagoo, meaning "it is the sea" or "it resembles the sea".

The First Parish Meetinghouse, also known as the Old Red Church, is a historic church building on Oak Hill Road in Standish, Maine. Built 1804-06, it is a well-preserved example of rural Federal period design. The building has served the community as a church and school, and is still occasionally used for religious services. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Maine School Administrative District 6 (MSAD 6) is an operating school district within Maine, covering the towns of Buxton, Hollis, Standish, Limington, and Frye Island.

Camp O-AT-KA is a non-profit summer camp for boys in East Sebago, Maine, on the western shore of Sebago Lake. Founded in 1906 by Rev. Ernest Joseph Dennen of Lynn, Massachusetts, it is to date the oldest continuously running summer camp in the United States. It began its life as the summer camp of the Order of Sir Galahad, an Episcopal church organization founded by Dennen in 1896. Originally founded as an explicitly Episcopalian camp, O-AT-KA may have allowed some Jewish campers as well. In the modern period, it is open to campers of all backgrounds. It runs as a traditional summer camp for boys aged 7-16 and is accredited with the American Camp Association.During the off-season, O-AT-KA is also a popular venue for weddings and other events. It has been featured on Martha Stewart's website, described as making one, "feel like you stepped into a Wes Anderson film."

Standish is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The population was 10,244 at the 2020 census. It includes the villages of Standish Corner, Sebago Lake Village and Steep Falls, and the localities known as Richville, Elmwood, Standish Neck and Two Trails. Standish is part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area.
