Emil R. Buchser High School was a public high school in Santa Clara, California. It graduated its first class in 1960 and changed its name in 1981 to, Santa Clara High School, which was around many years at a much older location before Buchser High's campus. Santa Clara High's previous campus became the home of the new Buchser Middle School. The science wing at Buchser Middle School caught fire in 2004, but has been rebuilt since then.

Shiv Durga Temple of Bay Area is a Hindu temple in Santa Clara, California that serves the Hindu population of the San Francisco Bay Area. The temple opened in December 2012. The main deity of the temple is Goddess Durga. The temple also has idols of other deities such as Lord Ganesha, Sai Baba, Shiva Linga and Radha Krishna. The temple is visited by 100,000 Hindu pilgrims per year.

New Valley High School is a small SCUSD alternative school outside of the Santa Clara Unified School District office near Lawrence Expressway in Santa Clara. The school was previously located Wilson Alternative Education School, until it was recently relocated in 2001 due to overcrowding. The majority of the students enrolled at New Valley are either behind in earning the 230 required graduation credits, or have been expelled from either Wilcox High School or Santa Clara High School.

The Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) is a school district in Santa Clara County, California, United States that serves roughly 16,000 students from the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and San Jose. The Santa Clara Unified School District operates eighteen elementary schools (K–5), four middle schools (6–8), one TK–8 school, five high schools (9–12), one community day school, one adult education program, and one dual enrollment partnership with the West Valley–Mission Community College District. The district is very diverse, with 71% of the community being nonwhite.

Saint Lawrence Academy was a college-preparatory Roman Catholic high school in Santa Clara, California, US, founded in 1975. The school was marketed for its small size with close interaction among students, administration, faculty, and counselors. It was affiliated with the Diocese of San Jose. It closed in 2016.

Santa Clara (; Spanish for "Saint Clare") is a city in Santa Clara County, California. The city's population was 127,647 as of the 2020 United States Census, making it the eighth-most populous city in the Bay Area. Located in the southern Bay Area, the city was founded by the Spanish in 1777 with the establishment of Mission Santa Clara de Asís under the leadership of Junípero Serra. Santa Clara is located in the center of Silicon Valley and is home to the headquarters of companies such as Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, and Nvidia. It is also home to Santa Clara University, the oldest university in California, and Levi's Stadium, the home of the National Football League's San Francisco 49ers. Santa Clara is bordered by San Jose on all sides, except for Sunnyvale and Cupertino to the west.

Adrian C. Wilcox High School is a public school located in Santa Clara, California. It is one of two high schools serving those living within the boundaries of the Santa Clara Unified School District. (Previously there were four high schools in the district. See below.) The school is named after Adrian C. Wilcox, who served on the Santa Clara Union High School Board of Trustees for over 30 years. Wilcox was first accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1966 and is accredited through 2009. In April 2005, Wilcox officially became a California Distinguished School.

Marian A. Peterson Middle School is a public middle school (formerly Peterson High School) in the Santa Clara Unified School District, located in the city of Sunnyvale, California, at 1380 Rosalia Avenue. It teaches 899 students from 6th to 8th grade, with 39 teachers. Peterson is 1 mile north of Apple's new campus, 2 miles southeast of downtown Sunnyvale, and 0.7 miles west of the local arterial road Lawrence Expressway.

Marian A. Peterson High School was a high school in Sunnyvale, California that operated from 1965 to 1981. The building is currently occupied by Marian A. Peterson Middle School, in the Santa Clara Unified School District.The student body was absorbed by Adrian C. Wilcox High School in 1981 due to Peterson's declining student enrollment.

The Santa Clara Valley is a geologic trough in Northern California that extends 90 miles (145 km) south–southeast from San Francisco to Hollister. The longitudinal valley is bordered on the west by the Santa Cruz Mountains and on the east by the Diablo Range; the two coastal ranges meet south of Hollister. The San Francisco Bay borders the valley to the north, and fills much of the northern third of the valley. The valley floor is an alluvial plain that formed in the graben (tectonic depression) between the San Andreas Fault to the west and the Hayward and Calaveras faults to the east. Within the valley and surrounding the bay on three sides are the urban communities of San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, and Alameda County, while the narrow southern reaches of the valley extend into rural San Benito County to Hollister. In practical terms, the central portion of the Santa Clara Valley is often considered by itself, contained entirely within Santa Clara County.The valley, named after the Spanish Mission Santa Clara, was for a time known as the Valley of Heart's Delight for its high concentration of orchards, flowering trees, and plants. Until the 1960s it was the largest fruit-producing and packing region in the world, with 39 canneries. The high-tech industrial growth starting in the 1960s—later known as Silicon Valley—transformed the area from extensive agricultural tracts to an urbanized landscape. More recently, extensive droughts in California, further complicated by drainage of the local Anderson reservoir for seismic repairs, have strained the city's water security.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department (SCCFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the county of Santa Clara, California. Established in 1947, the SCCFD is responsible for the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County as well as the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga.The service area encompasses approximately 128 square miles (330 km2) with a population of 226,700. In addition to their career firefighters, the department is also augmented by approximately 27 volunteer firefighters. Daily 24-hour emergency response staffing consists of 66 firefighters and officers operating out of 15 fire stations with 19 pieces of apparatus and 3 command vehicles.
