Blackburn with Darwen tPCT was an English National Health Service primary care trust, responsible for commissioning & purchasing of health care in Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire. It came under the North West of England's NHS strategic health authority (SHA). It was abolished in April 2013.

Belthorn is a small moorland village situated to the south-east of Blackburn in Lancashire, England. It is about two-thirds of a mile (1.1 km) away from junction 5 of the M65 motorway, which runs from Colne to Preston. Belthorn has a primary school, Belthorn Academy, and a large playing field with a children's recreational area. The village has two pubs: the community-owned, recently reopened Dog Inn and the Pack Horse (now named Marco Polo); the Pack Horse is an Italian restaurant and the Dog Inn serves pub food. The houses are mainly old weavers' cottages. Most of the village is in Hyndburn, though some of the houses, including those higher up in the village, are in Blackburn with Darwen.

Eccleshill is a civil parish in the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen, Lancashire, England. The population of the parish was only 319, at the census of 2011. It contains the hamlets of Eccleshill, Grimshaw and Waterside. Located within the parish is Shaws of Darwen, whom manufacture goods such as sinks and architectural terracotta. The factory situated in Waterside opened in 1908, and in the 1920s, the company was the largest employer in Darwen.The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's Hoddlesden Branch Line, the goods line opened in 1876 passed through the parish. It was built to provide one service to Hoddlesden, south of Eccleshill and although the passenger service was proposed the application was not successful. The goods station at Hoddlesden closed in 1950, but the line remained open to Waterside to serve Shaws of Darwen until 1962.

Blackamoor is one village in Lancashire, England which is to the south of Blackburn.It is located on the cross roads between Lower Darwen and Guide where the B6231 crosses the old “Roman Road” from Manchester to Ribchester.

Royal Ordnance Factory, ROF, Blackburn was part of the Ministry of Defence organisations producing components for the manufacture of armaments and arms related equipment from the late 1930 until after WWII. Commonly known locally as the "Fuse" or "Fuze", because the majority of components in production related to the fuse mechanisms used on most explosive devices at the time, bombs. Providing local employment, the factory was known as a good employer and provided one of the best and respected apprenticeship schemes in the region. Along with mass production of fuse mechanisms, it also developed Safety and Arming Mechanisms, S&A Units for many more of the sophisticated weapons in development during and after World War II. These S&A units provided safe handling for missiles whilst under transit conditions and safety for operator personnel up to the time of having to be armed. Bombs and missiles need specific launch conditions to be fulfilled to stop injury and fatalities to handlers during pre-launch. Most well known missiles from the UK after World War II had S&A units from ROF Blackburn, including Blue Streak, and other weapons used at the time of the Falklands Crisis.

Our Lady & St John Catholic College is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. The school was created in 1987 by the amalgamation of Notre Dame Grammar School and St. John Rigby R.C. High School. A purpose-built Vocational Centre opened in September 2009.

Old St Paul's Church is a former Anglican parish church in the village of Hoddlesden, Lancashire, England. The foundation stone was laid on 27 July 1861, and the church was consecrated in June 1863. It was designed by the Lancaster architect E. G. Paley, and cost about £4,000 (equivalent to £400,000 in 2021). The church was constructed in local stone, and roofed with slates from Over Darwen. Its plan consisted of a nave, north aisle, chancel, and a west tower with a stair turret rising higher than the tower. The architectural style was Geometric. The nave measured 72 feet (22 m) by 25 feet (8 m), and the aisle was 20 feet (6 m) wide. The church provided seating for 650 people. It was demolished in 1975 because of damage caused by dry rot. A new church was built, also dedicated to St Paul, on a different site adjacent to the village school.

Blackburn Central High School is a co-educational secondary school located in Blackburn, Lancashire.The school was formed from the merger of Beardwood High School and Blakewater College and relocated to a new combined campus in September 2012. Construction of the new school site was funded by the Building Schools for the Future programme. Previously a foundation school administered by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, in October 2019 Blackburn Central High School converted to academy status and is now sponsored by the Champion Education Trust. Blackburn Central High School offers GCSEs as programmes of study for pupils. Until 2022, the school shared a campus with Crosshill Special School. Crosshill Special School relocated to their own premises in Darwen in January 2022.

Jaame Masjid, also known as the Jaame Masjid Islamic Cultural Centre is a mosque in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. It was established from a house in 1962, incorporating two terrace houses, and has since been expanded on several occasions. It became the first Masjid in Lancashire, recognised as the official central mosque of Blackburn.
