Howell Park (Seattle)

The Richard A. Ballinger House is a historic residence located in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1979. The residence is a well-maintained example of 20th-century Colonial Revival architecture.

Viretta Park is a 1.8-acre (7,300 m2) park in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, located at the foot of E. John Street at 39th Avenue E. and stretching down to Lake Washington Boulevard. It was named by Charles L. Denny after his wife, Viretta Chambers Denny. It is located to the south of the former home of Kurt Cobain, where he was found dead. Nirvana fans gather at the park on the anniversary of Cobain's death (April 5), and to a lesser extent on his birthday (February 20), to pay tribute to him.

Denny-Blaine Park is a 2 acres (8,100 m2) park in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. It is located on Lake Washington along and at the end of E. Denny-Blaine Place. The land for the park was donated to the City of Seattle by Charles L. Denny and Elbert F. Blaine, who were also responsible for sub-dividing the surrounding neighborhood. There is a grass beach as well as a picnic area and a volleyball pit. Much of a renovation completed in 2004 involved the large middle bed just above the shoreline. It is said the actor John Wayne rented the house to the South, and, due to people peeping over the wall, a hedge was put in running along the South border of the park, above the lower beach levels. Parks close by include Lake Washington Boulevard (borders on the West), Viretta Park (to the SW), Howell Park (few blocks South) and Lakeview Park (to the NW).

On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain, the lead singer and guitarist of the American rock band Nirvana, was found dead at his home in Seattle, Washington. Forensics investigators later determined he had died three days earlier, on April 5. The Seattle Police Department incident report stated that Cobain was found with a shotgun across his body, had suffered a visible gunshot wound to the head, and that a suicide note had been discovered nearby. The Seattle Police confirmed Cobain's death as a suicide. Following his death, conspiracy theories that Cobain was murdered were spread and reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, partially due to an Unsolved Mysteries episode dedicated to Cobain's death.

Lakeview Park is a 4.5 acres (18,000 m2) park in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, designed as part of the Olmsted Brothers park system in Seattle. It is located on both sides of Lake Washington Boulevard. as it winds down a hillside toward Lake Washington. The western half is a bowl-like park with grass and trees along 37th Ave E. and E. Harrison Street; the eastern half incorporates a lookout at the end of E. Harrison Street and undeveloped hillside between Hillside Drive E. and McGilvra Boulevard E. The upper campus of The Bush School is located across E. Harrison Street and Hillside Drive E. from the park. Lakeview Park is also known to many as Mud Park because in the rain it becomes somewhat of a mud pit.

Denny-Blaine (also known as Harrison) is a neighborhood in east central Seattle, Washington. It is bounded on the east by Lake Washington; on the south by E. Howell Street, beyond which is Madrona; on the west by 32nd Avenue, beyond which is Madison Valley; and on the north by Lake Washington Boulevard E., Hillside Drive E., and E. Prospect Street, beyond which are Washington Park and Madison Park. The neighborhood's main thoroughfares are E. Denny Way and E. Harrison Street (east- and westbound) and Dorffel Drive E. and Lake Washington and McGilvra Boulevards E. (north- and southbound). Denny-Blaine Park is on the Lake Washington waterfront at the foot of E. Denny-Blaine Place. The Denny-Blaine neighborhood is one of the most affluent and exclusive neighborhoods in Seattle.

Madrona Park is an 31.2 acres (126,000 m2) park located in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, bisected by Lake Washington Boulevard. It lies on the western shore of Lake Washington and features picnic areas, a swimming beach with bathhouse, and parking area. West of the campground is a tree-covered hillside and ravine featuring walking paths and Madrona Creek.

Madrona Creek is a stream in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States, located within Madrona Park. A daylighting project to restore the creekbed from above 38th Avenue downhill to Lake Washington is underway as of 2006.

Lake Washington Boulevard is a scenic, approximately 8-mile (13 km), road through Seattle, Washington, that hugs Lake Washington for much of the route. There are views of the lake, small sections of rainforest, meadows, and views of the Cascade mountains. At its northern end, Lake Washington Boulevard originates as East Lake Washington Boulevard at Montlake Boulevard East, soon becomes Lake Washington Boulevard East, and runs through the length of the Washington Park Arboretum. The road begins at S. Juneau Street in Seward Park, running thence along the lake to Colman Park, just south of Interstate 90. From here north to E. Alder Street in Leschi, the lakeside road is named Lakeside Avenue, and Lake Washington Boulevard diverts to a winding route through Colman, Frink, and Leschi Parks. At E. Alder, the boulevard once again runs along the lake through Madrona Park to just north of Madrona Drive, where private residences occupy the shore. At E. Denny-Blaine Place, the road heads northwest, through Lakeview Park and the grounds of The Bush School, to the south entrance of the Arboretum at E. Madison Street. It continues through the Arboretum. Just north of E. Roanoke Street, the boulevard turns due west and changes from Lake Washington Boulevard E. to E. Lake Washington Boulevard, following the city's street name designation system. The boulevard ends at the Montlake overpass of 520, where E. Montlake Place E. becomes Montlake Boulevard E. The road is popular among cyclists—indeed, it was originally conceived as a bicycle path before automobiles had become widespread—and is closed to auto-traffic ten days out of the year for recreation.The road was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Alvin Larkins Park is a park in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, located on the north side of E. Pike Street between 34th and 35th Avenues. The land was purchased by the city in 1973 and made into a park in 1975. In 1979, it was named after Alvin Larkins, a resident of the neighborhood from 1949 until he died in 1977.

Cherry Street, beyond which is Leschi; on the west by Martin Luther King Jr. Way, beyond which is the Central District; and on the north by E. Howell Street, beyond which is Denny-Blaine. The neighborhood's main thoroughfares are E. Union and E. Cherry Streets (east- and westbound), Madrona Drive (northwest- and southeast-bound), and 34th Avenue and Lake Washington Boulevard (north- and southbound). It is home to Madrona Park and the 34th Avenue and E. Union commercial area.
