Middleton bus station is a bus station located in the town of Middleton in Greater Manchester. The bus station is found next to the Middleton Shopping Centre on the site of the old bus station. The new bus station was opened on 31 July 2005 and is run by TfGM.There are thirteen stands in the bus station, A to N, with some of the stands operating a drive-in/reverse out system with the others operating a drive-through system. There are two entrances into the bus station, one from Park Road/Manchester New Road junction, and the other from Middleton Way from a dedicated bus lane. There is only one exit from the bus station, onto Middleton Way, with priority signals being used to allow buses to rejoin the main carriageway.

The Municipal Borough of Middleton was, from 1886 to 1974, a municipal borough in the administrative county of Lancashire, England, coterminous with the town of Middleton.

Langley is an suburb near Middleton, Greater Manchester, England, 4.4 miles (7.1 km) southwest of Rochdale and 5.5 miles (8.9 km) northeast of Manchester city centre. Langley is an overspill estate, created in the 1950s for Manchester City Council. Families moved into the new housing from the slum clearance areas of Manchester, the eventual population of about 25,000 doubling that of Middleton.All the street names are adopted from different areas of the Lake District. In 1990, Langley estate was the focus of a satanic panic and in 2006 twelve of the now-adult victims sued Rochdale Council for compensation. The Ken Loach film Raining Stones was filmed in and around Langley in 1993.

Our Lady's Roman Catholic High School, also known as Our Lady's RC High School, is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in the Higher Blackley area of Manchester, England.It is a voluntary aided school administered by Manchester City Council and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. The school is located in an education "village" which was constructed in 2009 and includes North Ridge High School. Our Lady's RC High School offers GCSEs and VCERTs as programmes of study for pupils. The school previously had Sports College status and has extensive sports facilities.

St Leonard's is a Church of England parish church in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade I listed building.Much of the present building was erected in 1412 by Thomas Langley (born in Middleton in 1363) who was Bishop of Durham and Lord Chancellor of England. He re-used the Norman doorway from an earlier structure to create the tower arch. Also distinctive in this region is the weather-boarded top stage to the tower. The church of St Leonard was enlarged in 1524 by Sir Richard Assheton, in celebration of the knighthood granted to him by Henry VIII of England for his part in the Battle of Flodden in 1513. The Flodden Window, in the sanctuary, is thought to be the oldest war memorial in the UK. It commemorates on it the names of the Middleton archers who fought at Flodden. The church also has one of the finest collections of monumental brasses in the north of England, including the only brass in the UK depicting an English Civil War officer in full armour, Major-General Ralph Assheton. George Pace designed a war memorial and, in 1958, added a choir vestry and installed new lighting.In the extension of the churchyard are the war graves of two First World War soldiers, and an airman from the Second World War.

Middleton Railway station served the town of Middleton. The station opened on 5 January 1857 when the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (L&YR) opened a branch line to serve the town from Middleton Junction.The station was located to the south east of the junction of Oldham Road (now the A669) and Townley Street.Originally the station had a single platform. It was rebuilt with two platforms in 1885-1886. There were goods lines on both sides of the main running lines and a goods shed to the south. The goods yard was able to accommodate most types of goods including live stock and was equipped with a five ton crane.A Cotton shed (described on the map as a goods shed) opened about 1907, it had a rail link into Neva Cotton Mills.The station closed to passengers on 7 September 1964 and completely on 11 October 1965 when the branch also closed.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Plant Hill Arts College (formally Plant Hill High School) was an 11-16 community school, serving boys and girls predominantly from the suburb of Blackley, Manchester. The school had approximately 820 pupils on roll before it was replaced by the Co-operative Academy of Manchester. The school was in close proximity to the M60 motorway affording it excellent links, by road, to a wide area. It was also well served by public transport.

Co-op Academy Manchester, formerly known as The Co-operative Academy of Manchester is a non-selective, mixed secondary school in Blackley, Manchester. It opened in September 2010 and replaced Plant Hill Arts College. The academy is part of The Co-operative Academies Trust - a group of schools sponsored by The Co-operative Group. The values of the academy are Fairness, Ambition and Respect. The school has a business-focused ethos, backed up by the support of its lead sponsor and features of the new building such as the open-plan flexible learning zones and the boardroom. The academy's first Principal, Kathy Leaver, was appointed to transform the former Plant Hill school following her dramatic success as head of Sale High School.In July 2011 students from the Academy took part in the chorus of Victoria Wood's "That Day We Sang", part of the Manchester International Festival.In 2013 the Manchester Evening News recognised the effort of the retiring Principal Kathy Leaver, her team and parents in transforming the academy, whose results were the most improved in the city. The paper also recognised the academy's achievement in 2014 of the highest attendance rate of the city's state schools.Stephen Brice took up the position of Principal in April 2014.In late 2015, the academy opened The Hive - a business and enterprise centre. The Hive, which was formerly an unused Adult Education Centre contains a number of office pods available for small businesses or start-ups to rent. In addition, The Hive is also used by Yes Manchester who help local residents into work or training.In 2018, a new £18 million extension opened, which increased the capacity of the academy and created new facilities. In 2020, Principal Stephen Brice was appointed as Executive Headteacher for Greater Manchester, working across a number of schools in the Trust. Christopher Beard took up the role of Headteacher. Before taking on his new role, Brice created a Minecraft version of the academy to help people familiarise themselves with the building during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom.

Tonge is a residential and industrial area of Middleton in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester. It lies on the east side of Middleton between the town centre and its border with Chadderton in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham. Tonge was formerly a township in its own right, until the area was incorporated into the Municipal Borough of Middleton as part of local government reforms in the late 19th century. Its area includes localities such as Moorclose and part of the districts of Mills Hill and Middleton Junction. Tonge Hall was the manor house for the township. The place-name of Tonge, although no longer widely used in the area, stills survives in the district in the names of several streets and a long standing sports club, Tonge Social & Bowling club, established in 1923.Mills Hill railway station is located in this district. Middleton Technology School lies within this district.
