Falcon School District 49 (D49) is a public school district located on 133 square miles in the shadow of Pikes Peak. It spans from eastern Colorado Springs and several unincorporated areas of El Paso County.

Meadow Lake Airport (ICAO: KFLY, FAA LID: FLY, formerly 00V) is a public use airport located 14 nautical miles (16 mi, 26 km) northeast of the central business district of Colorado Springs, a city in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. It is privately owned by the Meadow Lake Airport Association, Inc.Meadow Lake is the largest pilot owned airport in the State of Colorado. Meadow Lake Airport went in service on November 1, 1967 and is a general aviation reliever airport for Colorado Springs. There are several aviation related businesses on the airfield including flying schools and aircraft maintenance facilities. In 2010 the airport was approved for an FAA grant to provide an AWOS (automated weather observation system). The system has been installed, and it was certified by the FAA on October 21, 2010. A change of FAA identifier from 00V to FLY (ICAO: KFLY) took effect on January 14, 2011. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned FLY by the FAA, but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned FLY to Finley, New South Wales, Australia).

Banning Lewis Academy are the two schools consisting of Banning Lewis Ranch Academy and Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy which are tuition free public charter schools serving approximately 1500 students in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The upper school campus opened in August 2017. BLPA now includes grades 6-8 for Middle School and grades 9-12 for High School. The schools are located in the Banning Lewis Ranch neighborhood, which was built years later after the original school opened. For enrolling in the school, admission is usually done by lottery. The school's mascot is a stallion.

Banning-Lewis Ranches was a successful cattle-ranching operation located east of Colorado Springs, managed by Raymond W. Lewis and Ruth Banning Lewis. The Lewises eventually acquired more than 30,000 acres on which Colorado Domino Type Herefords were raised. They won the Colorado Soil Conservation program award in 1948.The city limits of Colorado Springs were extended to encompass Banning Lewis Ranch in 1988. Efforts to develop the ranch into a residential community that could house up to 175,000 residents, and/or perform oil and gas exploration, have had limited success. 300 homes have been built on the northwest corner of the property, but the owners filed for bankruptcy in 2010. This lack of development has been used as an argument against spending at least $2.1 billion to build the "Southern Delivery System" water pipeline. As of 2015 the housing market in Colorado Springs exploded and now many new houses, mostly in the $300-$500,000 price range have been built with more under construction each day. In 2017, the housing market shows no signs of slowing down. Banning Lewis Ranch now has two schools, Banning Lewis Ranch Academy and Banning Lewis Prepratory Academy, with Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy opened in 2017, an activity center, two pools and a water park, walking trails and parks. It is one of the fastest-growing communities in Colorado Springs.

Shirley was a populated place and railroad spur on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad line in El Paso County, Colorado at 6,677 feet (2,035 m) in altitude.

Falcon High School is located in Falcon, Colorado, just east of Colorado Springs and was the first high school in Falcon School District 49. The other two high schools in the district, Sand Creek High School, and Vista Ridge High School were formed in 1997 when Falcon High School was split.

Vista Ridge High School is a secondary school located in east Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. The school has a population of approximately 1,700 students, and attracts enrollment from District 49.

Jimmy's Camp was a trading post established in 1833. The site is east of present-day Colorado Springs, Colorado on the southeast side of U.S. Route 24 and east of the junction with State Highway 94. Located along Trapper's Trail / Cherokee Trail, it was a rest stop for travelers and was known for its spring. Jimmy Camp was a ranch by 1870 and then a railway station on a spur of the Colorado and Southern Railway. After the ranch was owned by several individuals, it became part of the Banning Lewis Ranch. Now the land is an undeveloped park in Colorado Springs.

Sand Creek High School is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States, and is the second high school of Falcon School District 49. The school was built in 1997.

UCHealth Park (formerly known as Sky Sox Stadium from its opening until 2005 and as Security Service Field from then until 2019) is a professional baseball stadium on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Since 2019, it has hosted the Rocky Mountain Vibes, an independent Minor League Baseball team of the Pioneer League. From 1988 to 2018, the stadium was the home of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, a Triple-A team of the Pacific Coast League.

St. Francis Hospital is an acute hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in El Paso County. The hospital is a Level III trauma center.

Switchbacks Training Stadium is a 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium built in Colorado Springs, Colorado. At an altitude of roughly 6,600 feet above sea-level, the stadium was at the highest elevation of any primary home stadium used by a professional team in the American soccer pyramid through the 2020 season. The stadium is immediately adjacent to UCHealth Park. After Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC were awarded a franchise in USL Pro, now known as the USL Championship, it was announced on June 14, 2014, that the Colorado Springs City Council had approved an agreement that gave the new franchise a ten-year lease on the site. On March 7, 2016, Sand Creek Stadium had a name proposal approved by the City of Colorado Springs Parks Department, and the name was changed to Switchbacks Stadium. This happened to avoid further confusion with the name of the nearby Sand Creek High School. On February 14, 2017, Weidner Apartment Homes purchased the stadium naming rights for an undisclosed amount, and the stadium was renamed Weidner Field.The "Weidner Field" name is now used for an 8,000-seat stadium in downtown Colorado Springs that opened in April 2021 as the new home of Switchbacks FC. The new venue, although sitting at a lower altitude of 6,035 feet, will remain the highest in elevation used by an American professional soccer team. The "Weidner Field" name was officially transferred from the old stadium to the new downtown venue on October 15, 2020.
