Life of Christ Museum

Fátima (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈfatimɐ] ) is a city in the municipality of Ourém and district of Santarém in the Central Region of Portugal, with 71.29 km2 of area and 13,212 inhabitants (2021). The homonymous civil parish encompasses several villages and localities of which the city of Fátima is the largest. The civil parish has been permanently associated with Our Lady of Fátima, a series of 1917 Marian apparitions that were purportedly witnessed by three local shepherd children at the Cova da Iria. The Catholic Church later recognized these events as "worthy of belief". A small chapel was built at the site of the apparition in 1919, and a statue of Mary installed. The chapel and statue have since been enclosed within the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, a shrine complex containing two minor basilicas. Associated facilities for pilgrims, including a hotel and medical centre, have also been built over the decades within and around the Sanctuary. The city has become an important international destination for religious tourists, receiving between 6 and 8 million pilgrims yearly.

The Sanctuary of Fátima (Portuguese: Santuário de Fátima), officially titled Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima (Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima), is a Marian shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima located in Fátima, in the municipality of Ourém, in Portugal. It consists of a group of Catholic religious buildings and structures with the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary (Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário) as the main building. In addition to the basilica, the shrine contains the Chapel of the Lausperene (Capela do Lausperene), a great oak tree near where the 1917 Marian Apparitions occurred, a monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Monumento ao Sagrado Coração de Jesus) and the Chapel of the Apparitions (Capelinha das Aparições) which contains the area where three children, Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, said they were first visited by the Virgin Mary. In addition, several other structures and monuments were built in the intervening years to commemorate the events. Across from the main sanctuary is the much larger Basilica of the Holy Trinity constructed after 1953, owing to the limited scale of the Sanctuary for large-scale pilgrimages and religious services.

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary (Portuguese: Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário) is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica in the Sanctuary of Fátima (Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima) in Cova da Iria, in the civil parish of Fátima, in the municipality of Ourém in Portugal.

Cova da Iria is a quarter in the city and civil parish of Fátima, Santarém District, Portugal. Several of the reported Marian apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima witnessed by the three children-shepherds of Fátima in 1917 took place here. This venerable neighborhood is considered the wealthy area of the city of Fátima where, currently, there are numerous convents, hotels and pilgrims' hostels. It is located near the places of Aljustrel and Valinhos.

The Basilica of the Holy Trinity (Portuguese: Basílica da Santíssima Trindade) is a Catholic church and minor basilica in the Sanctuary of Fátima (Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Fátima) in Cova da Iria, in the civil parish of Fátima, in the municipality of Ourém in Portugal. In 2009 it received the Outstanding Structure Award by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering. IABSE awards the most remarkable, innovative, creative or otherwise stimulating structure completed within the last few years.

The Wax Museum of Fatima (Portuguese: Museu de Cera de Fátima) is a wax museum located in the city of Fatima, Portugal. Located in Cova da Iria, near to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, it is a themed museum about Marian apparitions reported by three shepherd children in Fatima in 1917.

Valinhos is a countryside place on the outskirts of Fátima, Portugal. This place became famous for the 19 August 1917 apparition of Our Lady of Fátima and by the 1st and 3rd apparitions of the Guardian Angel of Portugal (also named the Angel of Peace). As such, it is a popular site for religious tourism.

Aljustrel is a hamlet on the outskirts of Fátima, Portugal, in the municipality of Ourém. It was the birthplace of Lúcia dos Santos, and Francisco and Jacinta Marto, known worldwide as the "three little shepherds of Fátima" or the "three child seers", and the setting for some of the events during the apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima. There is now a small house-museum there.
