The Stable Block at Tredegar House (Welsh: Tŷ Tredegar) forms part of the complex of buildings at Tredegar House, at Coedkernew, on the western edge of the city of Newport, Wales. The Stables were built by Thomas Morgan, son of William Morgan (of Machen and Tredegar), who had rebuilt the main house as a "grand(.), classical house" between 1664 and 1672. Newman describes the stables as "match(ing) the house in scale and splendor" and the Stable Block, and attached orangery, were listed Grade I on 3 January 1963. and have been in the care of the National Trust since March 2012.

Tredegar House (Welsh: Tŷ Tredegar) is a 17th-century Charles II-era mansion on the southwestern edge of Newport, Wales. For over five hundred years it was home to the Morgan family, later Lords Tredegar; one of the most powerful and influential families in the area. Described as, "the grandest and most exuberant country house in Monmouthshire" and one of the "outstanding houses of the Restoration period in the whole of Britain", the mansion stands in a reduced landscaped garden of 90 acres (0.36 km2) forming the non-residential part of Tredegar Park. The property became a Grade I listed building on 3 March 1952 and has been under the care of the National Trust since March 2012. The park surrounding the house is designated Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Tredegar Park (Welsh: Parc Tredegar) is a 90-acre (36 ha) public park situated in the western Coedkernew area of the city of Newport, South Wales. It lies close to junction 28 of the M4 motorway connecting London and West Wales.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS; Welsh: Swyddfa Ystadegau Gwladol) is the executive office of the UK Statistics Authority, a non-ministerial department which reports directly to the UK Parliament.

St. Joseph's RC High School is a secondary high school on the outskirts of Newport, Wales.

The Inmos microprocessor factory, also known as the Inmos factory, previously known as Newport Wafer Fab, now known as Nexperia Newport, is a semiconductor fabrication plant for Inmos built in Newport, Wales, UK in 1980. It has gone through numerous changes in ownership. Since July 2021, the factory has been owned by Nexperia. In November 2022, Chinese state-owned Dutch-headquartered Nexperia was asked to divest 86% of its ownership, and a year later was sold to Vishay Intertechnology. The architects of the award-winning high-tech building were the Richard Rogers Partnership and the factory was the first building in Wales which Richard Rogers designed.

Tredegar Park (Welsh: Parc Tredegyr) is a community (civil parish) of the city of Newport. It is named after the nearby park, although the community covers a much smaller area.

Duffryn (Welsh: Dyffryn) is a large housing estate in the southwest of the city of Newport, south Wales comprising a large portion of the Tredegar Park electoral district (ward). Built on land belonging to Tredegar House, it was completed in 1978 and at the time won several awards for its design. The layout of the estate, as viewed from above, is that of large terraces undulating around a central wooded area. Originally a council estate, Duffryn is now a mix of private ownership and Newport City Homes RSL (Registered Social Landlord) properties. The design of the estate is the result of a council competition. It was won by a consortium committed to the theories of planning devised in the architecture department of Cambridge University in the 1960s. The District Amenities Centre that was planned for the south-west corner of the 96-acre site was never built, so the plan of a largely self-sufficient community was not realised.Despite the relative recent development of the estate, the name Duffryn is an ancient name for the wider township of the ancient parish of Bassaleg. There are three secondary schools in Duffryn: John Frost School, St. Joseph's RC High School and the Welsh-medium Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed. In 2006, John Frost School (known then as Duffryn High School) was the filming location of the Doctor Who episode School Reunion, filmed in late-summer 2005. The majority of the estate is heated by district heating system which is fuelled by biomass.

Cwm Silicon (Welsh for Silicon Valley) is an epithet applied to a region of South Wales in the far west of Newport that attracted interest and inward investment from the technology sector in the early 2000s.As of 2010, the future of the area as an important technological centre was uncertain following the closure of its key LG factory in August 2003. The area is next to the M4 and is a centre for high-technology companies, like much of the M4 corridor.

Coedkernew (Welsh: Coedcernyw) is a community in the south west of the city of Newport, South Wales, in the Marshfield ward. The parish is bounded by Percoed reen to the south, Nant-y-Selsig to the southwest, and Pound Hill to the west. The northern boundary is formed from Gwern-y-cleppa to junction 28 of the M4, then the A48 Cardiff Road. The eastern boundary is formed from the Ebbw River Bridge roundabout to the west of the International Rectifier plant, Duffryn Drive, along the southern edge of Tredegar House country park, Pencarn Lane and Percoed Lane. Despite being a mostly rural parish to the south and west, the north and east is a continuation of the Duffryn built-up area, and has seen large increases in population in recent years due to the continued suburbanisation of Newport; it grew from 574 in 2001 to 2,183 in 2011. This built-up area of Coedkernew forms a crescent around Duffryn and as such, much newly built housing in the Duffryn area actually falls within Coedkernew. This area contains the landmark Coedkernew footbridge over the A48, a large LG plant, three business parks (Imperial Park, Celtic Springs and Cleppa Park), the Patent Office, the Office for National Statistics, Tredegar House, the Celtic Horizons estate and St. Joseph's RC High School. The remains of a prehistoric burial chamber, believed to be neolithic, can be found at the northern boundary near Gwern-y-cleppa . Coedkernew is also considered to be one of the possible sites for early medieval activity in Gwynllwg, as well as a potential site for the church of Gwladys due to its proximity to the abandoned settlement of Pencarn.

Maesglas or Maes-glas is a neighbourhood in the south west of the city of Newport, South Wales. In the 16th century it was recorded as Greenfield but the Welsh language name Maesglas has remained the more widely used, among English speakers. It lies in the Gaer ward directly north of the A48 Southern Distributor Road, south of Cardiff Road and south-west of the South Wales Main Line railway. The Newport-born author Leslie Thomas wrote of Maesglas: Maesglas was a penniless place everybody called Moscow. When it was built in the thirties the winter was of such Soviet severity that the frost-bound workmen gave it the name. Poor though it was, nobody who ever lived there can today mention its name or its Russian nickname without breaking into a grin. This quote is incorporated into a mural telling the history of the estate, painted on the side of the Maesglas shops.

Gaer (Welsh: Y Gaer) is a community and electoral district ("ward") of the city of Newport, South Wales. The ward includes both the Gaer and Maesglas estates.but,does not inclue Ebbw Bridge. To the south west of the ward is a listed monument known as the Gaer Hillfort (alternative: the Gollars) a large ancient hill fort and defensive position overlooking the Ebbw River with views south across the River Severn to England and north towards Twmbarlwm and Mynydd Machen. It is believed to date to the Iron Age. The original Gaer House in the area was built in the reign of Queen Elizabeth by Alexander Seys, Esq., second son of Roger Seys, Esq., of Boverton.The ward is bounded by Bassaleg Road to the north, the Great Western main line to the east, the Ebbw River to the southeast, Cardiff Road to the southwest, and the M4 motorway to the west.
