Igúzquiza (Basque: Iguzkitza) is a town and municipality located in the province and autonomous community of Navarre, northern Spain. Villamayor de Monjardín (very exceptionally in Basque: Deio) is a town and municipality located in the province and the autonomous community of Navarre, northern Spain. The ruins of the castle of San Esteban de Deyo sit on the hill above the town.

San Esteban de Deyo, also called the Castillo de Monjardín, is a ruined castle on a hill overlooking Villamayor de Monjardín in Navarre. The castle lies at an elevation of 890 metres. The castle has a Roman foundation, but was repeatedly rebuilt over the centuries. It was one of the last fortresses of the Banu Qasi, the local Muslim dynasty, before it was taken by King Sancho I of Navarre in 914. According to the Historia Caroli Magni et Rotholandi—a legendary retelling of the lives of Charlemagne and Roland found in the 12th-century Codex Calixtinus—the castle was actually taken by Charlemagne from a Navarrese prince named Furré. In 1380, Don Álvar Diáz de Medrano y Almoravid, lord of Igúzquiza, received the castle of Monjardín. For generations, the Medrano family, ricohombres of Navarre became the governors of the famous Monjardín castle, whose prodigious cross is said to have been collected by one of these knights when it appeared to one of his shepherds. Only the walls of the castle stand today. Many of the stones were taken to build a Baroque hermitage, the Ermita de San Esteban, in the 17th century. The ruins of San Esteban de Deyo were named a Bien de Interés Cultural de Navarra on 25 June 1985.

Santa María la Real de Irache (also Hyrache, or, in Basque, Iratxe) is a former Benedictine monastery located in the town of Ayegui, Navarre, Spain. It dates from the eighth century, although the surviving buildings are later. Adjacent to the monastery is a winery called Bodegas Irache, which continues a tradition of viticulture which dates from monastic times.

Montejurra in Spanish and Jurramendi in Basque are the names of a mountain in Navarre region (Spain). Each year, it hosts a Carlist celebration in remembrance of the 1873 Battle of Montejurra during the Third Carlist War. In 2004, approximately 1,000 persons turned out. Between 1960 and 1971, the Carlists published a monthly magazine named Montejurra. On 9 May 1976, during the Spanish Transition, far right-wing gunmen supported by the Spanish secret services, killed two people at a ceremony held by the left-wing Carlist Party. This became known as the Montejurra Incidents. The Carlist Party organizes an annual gathering at Montejurra, where Carlists and other leftists honor the dead.
