The Light Horse & Field Artillery Museum is an Australian military museum located approximately 1 hour south-east of Melbourne in Nar Nar Goon, Victoria. It contains a number of exhibits of military items including gun carriages and cooking wagons restored by owner Bernie Dingle. It also has a number of animals, including horses used in Anzac Day marches. In 2015 it was closed to the public due to a building order from Cardinia Council, which in 2014 had ordered upgrades costing $80,000 - $100,000 including large water tanks, a sprinkler system and other changes.

Places of interest include Gumbuya World, Pakenham Racecourse, Mill Valley Ranch and Tynong railway station. Tynong is notable for the granodiorite quarried from the area for the construction of the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance.

Tynong North recorded a population of 440 at the 2021 census. Tynong North is separated from Tynong by the Princes Freeway, which runs between the two settlements. The localities are further distinguished geographically with Tynong being situated on the edge of a reclaimed swamp while Tynong North sits at the foot of the mountains in the Weatherhead Range, and is adjacent to Bunyip State Park and the Weatherhead Forest Reserve. Places of interest include Gumbuya World, Mill Valley Ranch, the old Cornucopia Museum (which is under renovation) and the Fulton Hogan Pty Ltd (previously Astec) Quarry. Tynong North Post Office opened on 14 May 1934 and closed in 1964.

Garfield railway station is located on the Gippsland line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Garfield, and it opened on 17 December 1884 as Cannibal Creek Siding. It was renamed Garfield on 28 March 1887.The station was destroyed by fire on 20 February 1924. In 1954, electrification of the line was provided between Pakenham and Warragul, and in 1956, the line between Tynong and Bunyip was duplicated, with a new down platform (Platform 2) provided.In 1971, a crossover at the station was abolished, and in 1978, the up end connection to the siding was abolished. The siding was abolished altogether in 1987.In 1998, electrified services between Pakenham and Warragul ceased, with de-electrification between those stations occurring in 2001.
