Madaba Camp

The Madaba Map, also known as the Madaba Mosaic Map, is part of a floor mosaic in the early Byzantine church of Saint George in Madaba, Jordan. The mosaic map depicts an area from Lebanon in the north to the Nile Delta in the south, and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Eastern Desert. It contains the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem. The map dates to the sixth century AD.

Madaba (Arabic: مادبا; Biblical Hebrew: מֵידְבָא‎ Mēḏəḇāʾ; Ancient Greek: Μήδαβα) is the capital city of Madaba Governorate in central Jordan, with a population of about 60,000. It is best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, especially a large Byzantine-era mosaic map of the Holy Land. Madaba is located 30 kilometres (19 miles) south-west of the capital Amman.

Kufayrat Abu Khinan (Arabic: كفير أبو خنان) is a town in the Madaba Governorate of north-western Jordan. It lies several miles north of Madaba.

Kufayr Abu Sarbut (Arabic: كفير أبو سربوط) is a town in the Madaba Governorate of north-western Jordan.

Kufayr al Wekhyan is a town in the Madaba Governorate of north-western Jordan.

Al Quwayjiyah (Arabic: القويجية) is a town in the Madaba Governorate of northern Jordan.

Juraynah جرينة is a town in the Madaba Governorate of north-western Jordan. It is located to the north of Madaba, about five kilometers from the governorate center, and about twenty-six kilometers south of Amman. Administratively, it is affiliated to the Greater Madaba municipality, and to the Juraynah district of the Madaba governorate. Juraynah is the northern gateway to Madaba Governorate from Amman.

Jalul is an archaeological site and small village in the Amman Governorate in northwestern Jordan.

King's Academy (Arabic transliteration: "كينغز أكاديمي") is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 7 to 12 in Madaba-Manja, Jordan. It is named in honor of King Abdullah II of Jordan and seeks to fulfill His Majesty's vision of producing "a new generation of enlightened and creative minds." King Abdullah attended high school at Deerfield Academy in the United States as there was no school of comparable standing in Jordan when he was a boy, but his son Crown Prince Hussein enrolled in the new school's second incoming class (2008). The school's first headmaster, Dr. Eric Widmer, was a past headmaster of Deerfield. The primary language of instruction at King's Academy is English. Both Arabic-speaking and non-Arabic-speaking students are required to study Arabic. The academy is a member of the G30 Schools group. The school is included in The Schools Index as one of the 150 best private schools in the world and among top 15 schools in the Middle East.

Manja is a town near the city of Madaba, Jordan. It is popular for its racing track.

Mount Nebo (Arabic: جَبَل نِيبُو, romanized: Jabal Nībū; Hebrew: הַר נְבוֹ‎, romanized: Har Nəḇō) is an elevated ridge located in Jordan, approximately 700 metres (2,300 ft) above sea level. Part of the Abarim mountain range, Mount Nebo is mentioned in the Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land before his death. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the West Bank across the Jordan River valley. The city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day. The biblical town of Nebo, now known as Khirbet al-Mukhayyat, is located 3.5 km (2.1 mi) away.

Abarim (Hebrew: הָעֲבָרִים, romanized: Hā-Avārīm) is the Hebrew name used in the Bible for a mountain range "across the Jordan", understood as east of the Jordan Rift Valley, i.e. in Transjordan, to the east and south-east of the Dead Sea, extending from Mount Nebo — its highest point — in the north, perhaps to the Arabian desert in the south.
