Bergues (French pronunciation: [bɛʁɡ]; Dutch: Sint-Winoksbergen; West Flemish: Bergn) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is situated 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) to the south of Dunkirk and 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the Belgian border. Locally it is referred to as "the other Bruges in Flanders". Bergues is a setting for the 2008 movie Welcome to the Sticks (Original French title: Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis).

The Communauté de communes des Hauts de Flandre is a communauté de communes in the Nord département and in the Hauts-de-France région of France. It was formed on 1 January 2014 by the merger of the former Communauté de communes de la Colme, Communauté de communes du canton de Bergues, Communauté de communes de Flandre and the Communauté de communes de l'Yser. Its seat is in Bergues. Its area is 448.5 km2, and its population was 53,584 in 2018.

Hoymille (French pronunciation: [wamil]; from Flemish; Hooimille in modern Dutch spelling) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is situated adjacent to the east of Bergues. The village hosts an annual carnival at the end February. The local church is St Gérard's.

On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune Téteghem-Coudekerque-Village. Prior to October 6, 2008, it was known as Coudekerque (Koudekerke). The name was changed to distinguish it from Coudekerque-Branche.

It is the largest suburb of Dunkirk, and is adjacent to it on the southeast. In 2018, Coudekerque-Branche had a population of 20,925. The commune has a land area of 9.14 km2 (3.53 sq mi).

Captain Thomas Frederick Le Mesurier DSC & Two Bars (6 February 1897 – 26 May 1918) was a British flying ace of the First World War credited with seven aerial victories. Le Mesurier was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) and Two Bars for his conspicuous service in bombing operations.

John De Camborne Paynter, (17 May 1898 – 6 June 1918) was a British flying ace of the First World War, credited with 10 aerial victories while flying with the Royal Naval Air Service. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his valour before being killed in a bombing raid.
