Carr Gate

Lawns is a district of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. Neighbouring settlements are Carr Gate in the south, Outwood in the east, and East Ardsley in the northwest. Wakefield 41 Business Park is situated between Lawns and Outwood. Nearby is junction 41 of the M1 motorway between Wakefield and Leeds.

West Ardsley is a settlement on the south-west edge of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it roughly approximates to an amalgamation of Tingley, Woodkirk, Hill Top, Upper Green, Common Side, Beggarington Hill and a number of other hamlets. The parish church is situated at Woodkirk and Methodist church on Haigh Moor Road. Being in the middle of several towns, West Ardsley has become a dormitory settlement.

Brandy Carr is a hamlet in the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England, north of the eponymous Brandy Carr Hill and between Balne Beck in the west and Carr Gate Beck in the east. Brandy Carr was part of Kirkhamgate civil parish and is even now considered a part of Kirkhamgate as indicated by the road signage. The nearest settlements are Carr Gate in the north, Wrenthorpe in the southeast, and Kirkhamgate in the southwest. Rhubarb and liquorice are grown at Brandy Carr Nurseries, the latter since the reintroduction of its culture to Great Britain in the early 1990s by the business owner. There are no direct public transport links to Brandy Carr, the nearest bus stops are in Kirkhamgate (0.6 miles (1.0 km) west) for services to Wakefield, and at the junction of Brandy Carr Road with the A650 road (0.4 miles (0.6 km) east) for services to Bradford, Leeds, and Wakefield.

The Lingwell Gate coin moulds are a group of Roman, clay coin moulds used in the forgery of coinage found at Lingwell Gate between 1697 and 1879. As of April 2021, there were 288 confirmed moulds in UK museums.

Outwood Grange Academy is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Outwood, near Wakefield, England. It has a mixed intake of both boys and girls ages 11–18, and has over 2,100 pupils on roll with a comprehensive admissions policy.The school is operated by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and the current principal is Andrew Downing. It publishes a newsletter, Outlook Magazine, on a termly basis.

Ardsley railway station was situated on the Great Northern Railway between Tingley and Lofthouse and Outwood on the main line and west of Stanley on the LNER & LMS Methley Joint Railway. It was built to serve the village of East Ardsley near Wakefield in the English county of West Yorkshire.

Thorpe on the Hill (or Thorpe) is a small village in West Yorkshire, England. The village falls within the Ardsley and Robin Hood ward of the Leeds Metropolitan Council. It was mentioned as "Torp" in the Domesday Book together with neighbouring Carlton, Lofthouse, Middleton, and Rothwell as part of the Morley Hundred in the West Riding.The village is situated within the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, 5 miles (8 km) south from Leeds city centre, and between Middleton and Rothwell. It is split by the M62 Motorway, and is close to the M1 and the Lofthouse Interchange (Junction 29 - Junction 42). Thorpe Hall on Middleton Lane is a Grade II* listed building.
