Riverview is an unincorporated census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It is located south of Brandon. The population was 107,396 in the 2020 census, up from 71,050 in the 2010 census. Many of Tampa Bay's radio and television stations broadcast from an antenna farm in the Riverview area, on Boyette Road, east of town. Riverview is home to Bell Creek Nature Preserve.

Peru, Florida was a town in Hillsborough County, Florida, that was later absorbed into Riverview. It was initially settled in 1843 on the South bank of the Alafia River at what is now US Highway 301 by Benjamin Moody and others who came to claim land under the "Armed Occupation Act of Florida" which was passed in 1842 and granted 160 acres of land to any head of family or any single man who would bear arms and live on the land in a house for five years. The name was pronounced "Pe-Roo", as Peru was a native name meaning "straight part of the river". The town existed for almost 100 years before being absorbed into Riverview in the 1940s.Prior to the occupation by white settlers, the area was inhabited by a Timucuan group known as the Mocoso.In the 1800s, the Peruvian Mining Company mined phosphate in the area. A post office was established in 1879, closing in 1900 with the mail being routed through the Riverview post office. In 1900, Hillsborough County contracted Virginia Bridge and Iron of Roanoke, Virginia to build a bridge between Peru and Riverview at a cost of $7,864.00, replacing the ferry. The bridge was constructed with the ironwork of the Lafayette Street bridge in Tampa.

The Riverview Public Library is part of the Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. The library is located in Hillsborough County, Florida. The Riverview Public Library houses over 70,000 items – books, audiobooks, magazines, and DVDs – and provides online and internet access to its patrons, via public access computers and Wi-Fi connectivity. The library offers computer training classes for children, teens, and adults, as well as community and study rooms available for public use. The Riverview Public Library has a recording studio, 2 creative content rooms, a makerspace, and a 'makeryspace' for children. The Friends of the Riverview Library manage the book store in the library.

Riverview High School is a public high school in Riverview, Florida, U.S.A. It is operated as part of the Hillsborough County Public Schools district.

Spoto High School is a public high school located in Riverview, Hillsborough County, Florida, serving the communities of Progress Village and Clair-Mel. It operates as a part of the Hillsborough County Public Schools system. It opened in August 2006, with the main purpose of the school to relieve overcrowding at Riverview High School, also located in Riverview, and East Bay High School in nearby Gibsonton. It also pulled students from Brandon High School and Bloomingdale High School. The school population for 2008-2009 was 1,460 students.

Kid's Community College, also referred to as KCC, is a public charter school and private preschool based in Riverview, Florida. Established in 2003 by Timothy B. Kilpatrick, Sr., Kid's Community College provides educational services and care for children six weeks of age through grade 12.

Bell Creek Nature Preserve is a 477-acre (193 ha) nature preserve located at 10940 McMullen Rd. in Riverview, Florida. The preserve property was purchased using funds from the Jan K. Platt Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program and the Florida Communities Trust and is managed by Hillsborough County's Conservation and Environmental Lands Management Department. Bell Creek Nature Preserve comprises many habitat types including sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, freshwater marsh, oak hammock, and restored pasture. The preserve is home to the endangered Florida golden aster (Chrysopsis floridana), Eastern indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi), and wood stork (Mycteria americana) along with other threatened and endangered plants and animals. Bell Creek Nature Preserve features 5 miles of marked hiking trails, a pond for fishing and wildlife viewing, and an administrative office (open weekdays) where visitors may purchase a Hillsborough County Annual Conservation Park or Boat Ramp Pass. Boyette is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,895 at the 2000 census. The CDP area merged with Riverview in 2010.

The Global Alliance of Affirming Apostolic Pentecostals (GAAAP) now known as New Journey Ministries, is an affirming, Oneness Pentecostal denomination, previously headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana and later Thonotosassa, Florida. It is a nonprofit organization based in Quincy, Florida. GAAAP is one of six LGBT affirming Pentecostal networks, and was organized in 2007 by Rev. Kevin Konkle then of Indianapolis, Indiana and Rev. Robert Morgan of Tampa, Florida. Rev. Morgan served as founding chairman and Rev. Konkle as founding vice-chairman.

Progress Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 11,188.

Gibsonton, sometimes nicknamed Gibtown, is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. U.S. Route 41 runs through the center of the community. The population was 14,234 at the 2010 census, up from 8,752 at the 2000 census. Gibsonton was famous as a sideshow wintering town, where various people in the carnival and circus businesses would spend the off season, placing it near the winter home for the Ringling Brothers Circus at Tampa, Sarasota and Venice in various times. It was home to Percilla the Monkey Girl, the Anatomical Wonder, and the Lobster Boy. Siamese twin sisters ran a fruit stand here. At one time, it was the only post office with a counter for dwarfs. Aside from the agreeable winter climate, Gibsonton offered unique circus zoning laws that allowed residents to keep elephants and circus trailers on their front lawns. Gibsonton was founded by James Gibson Sr., from Greenville, Alabama, in 1884. He homesteaded 150 acres at the mouth of the Alafia River, stretching to the east for approximately a half a mile along the south bank of the river. Gibson, along with Granville Platt and F.L. Henderson, became trustees of a school erected in 1888.

In the 2020 census, the population was 1,459,762, making it the fourth-most populous county in Florida and the most populous county outside the Miami metropolitan area. A 2021 estimate has the population of Hillsborough County at 1,512,070 people with a yearly growth rate of 1.34%, which itself is greater than the populations of 12 states according to their 2019 population estimates. Its county seat and largest city is Tampa. Hillsborough County is part of the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area.
