Tonwell

Bengeo Rural is a civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 601, increasing at the 2011 Census to 644. The parish includes the villages of Tonwell and Chapmore End. It originated as a split of the Bengeo parish in 1894 under the provisions of the Local Government Act, the remainder of which was amalgamated with Hertford Town Council.

Chapmore End is a hamlet in Bengeo Rural parish, Hertfordshire. At the 2011 Census the population of the hamlet was included in the town of Ware. The village consists of a few houses and a pub, the Woodman, and is situated just off the B158 approximately three miles north of Hertford. On the other side of the B158 in the Rib Valley is the former Hertford County Reformatory for boys, which was in operation between 1858 and 1981, and is now a private residential area known as Crouchfields. Chapmore End has close ties with the nearby village of Tonwell, where the former parish church is situated, along with the parish village hall. The two villages also hold combined events such as the village fete. The village association have their own web site.

Sacombe is a village and civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district, of Hertfordshire, England. At the 2001 census it had a population of 165. Sacombe is located about 4 miles N N W of Ware; other nearby settlements include Dane End and Sacombe Green.

Downfield Pit is a 3.6-hectare (8.9-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Ware in Hertfordshire. It is in the Geological Conservation Review in the Thames Pleistocene section, and the local planning authority is East Hertfordshire District Council.The site provides an example of the complex sequence of Pleistocene gravels and clays laid down by the River Thames when it flowed through the Vale of St Albans before the river was diverted south by the Anglian ice age around 450,000 years ago. Downfield Pit is a key site linking the Thames and East Anglia regions during the Middle Pleistocene.The site is now very degraded, but a borehole could establish the sequence of deposits. It is in two areas, both now within the Hanbury Manor Golf Course. The northern area is on a steeply sloping boundary of the course and the southern one is part of the course. They can be observed from Poles Lane.

Sacombe Green is a hamlet located to the east of the village of Sacombe, in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England.

Hanbury Manor, centred on the multi-wing Hanbury Manor Hotel, is a converted late-Victorian country house and adjoining golf course in Thundridge, north of Ware, Hertfordshire, some 10 miles (16 km) north of Greater London. It is part of a leisure retreat and country club owned by Marriott Hotels. The house is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.

Not to be confused with Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. Stapleford is a village and civil parish of 134 acres (54 ha) on the A119 road, in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. Stapleford is located between Waterford and Watton-at-Stone in the Beane valley; the little river was forded at this point, giving rise to the village. Stapleford's parish church is St Mary's Church. Beane is a hamlet of Stapleford.

The English Championship was a professional golf tournament held 6–9 August 2020 at Hanbury Manor Golf Club in Thundridge, near Ware, Hertfordshire, England. The tournament was intended to be a one-off event and was the third leg of a six-week "UK swing" on the European Tour during the 2020 season. The UK swing was created as part of sweeping changes to the tour's schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the tournament, American John Catlin became the first player to be withdrawn from a tournament due to violating the tour's health measures.Andy Sullivan won the tournament and achieved a new European Tour scoring record at the time, with an aggregate of 257 over 72 holes, beating the old record of 258, shared by David Llewellyn and Ian Woosnam, who achieved their records in 1988 and 1990 respectively. This record has since been beaten by Garrick Higgo, who shot an aggregate score of 255 in 2021.

Woodhall Park is a Grade I listed country house near Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, England. The 18th century neo-classical building is set in a walled park in the Beane valley. It has been the home of Heath Mount School since the 1930s.

Heath Mount School is a Church of England co-educational independent prep school near Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, England. It admits pupils aged 3 to 13. It was founded as Heath Mount Academy in Hampstead in 1796. In 1934 it was relocated to a Georgian mansion on the Woodhall Estate in rural Hertfordshire. For the 2022 academic year, 498 students were enrolled: boarding pupils and day pupils and girls and boys.

Chauncy School is a secondary school located in Ware, Hertfordshire in the East of England. It is the only mixed secondary school in Ware. The school pride themselves on accepting students of any ability, and has had increasingly improved results for 13 years running. In Jan 2013, OFSTED described Chauncy School as 'an inspiring and exciting place to be.' In 2017, OFSTED rated Chauncy School as outstanding.

The Kingsmead Viaduct (or Kings Meads Viaduct is a raised dual-carriageway viaduct of the A10 road on the eastern outskirts of Ware, Hertfordshire, England. It carries the A10 over the River Lea, the New River and the Hertford East branch line. The road was originally constructed as a trunk route by the Highways Agency as the second part of a two-phase improvement of the A10 between Ware and Cheshunt. On 29 September 2006 the road was de-trunked, and the viaduct is now the responsibility of Hertfordshire County Council.
