The Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Center is part of the University of Washington in Seattle and the world's largest single university building with a total floor area of 533,000 square metres (5,740,000 sq ft). Although the building is made up of over 20 wings built over more than 50 years, the interior hallways are fully connected. The Magnuson Health Sciences Building is also referred to as the Health Sciences Building or Health Sciences Complex.

Fritz Hedges Waterway Park, also known as Portage Bay Park, is a 3.5-acre (0.014 km2) park on the north shore of Portage Bay in the neighborhood of University District of Seattle, Washington. The park includes a beach, pier, and a canoe and kayak launch. The park is Seattle's newest park, having been opened on October 14th, 2020. Construction of the park took two years and included improvements to the habitat for salmon at the shoreline. The University of Washington owned the site since the 1970s and transferred ownership to the City of Seattle in 2013. The Washington State Department of Transportation provided $14 million to the city to purchase the site as compensation for the loss of public waterfront property due to the widening of State Route 520. The city provided $9 million to develop the park and the university paid $2.4 million for environmental remediation. The University Police station and a campus recycling facility were demolished to allow public access to the waterfront. The park was named after a Frederick 'Fritz' Hedges, a Seattle Parks and Recreation employee who died in 2004. The parks department said that Hedges "dedicated his life to the idea that parks and recreation are vital".

The University of Washington Planetarium is an active planetarium located in the Physics/Astronomy Auditorium on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, WA. The dome is 30 feet in diameter and utilizes six digital projectors to create an interactive display using the Worldwide Telescope planetarium software.

The Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean (JISAO) has existed since 1977 for the purpose of fostering research collaboration between National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) and the University of Washington (UW). Dr. John K. Horne is the current director. It is one of 16 NOAA Cooperative Institutes (CIs).The JISAO research themes are: Climate research and impacts Marine ecosystems Environmental chemistry Ocean and coastal observations Seafloor processes Protection and restoration of marine resources Tsunami observations and modeling

Portage Bay is a body of water, often thought of as the eastern arm of Lake Union, that forms a part of the Lake Washington Ship Canal in Seattle, Washington. To the east, Portage Bay is connected with Union Bay—a part of Lake Washington—by the Montlake Cut, over which spans the Montlake Bridge carrying State Route 513. To the north is the campus of the University of Washington. To the west, Portage Bay is spanned by the University Bridge, which carries Eastlake Avenue between Eastlake and the University District. Its westernmost limit can be said to be the Ship Canal Bridge, which carries Interstate 5 over the water; past this bridge, the body of water is deemed to be Lake Union. In the southern portion, Portage Bay is spanned by the Portage Bay Viaduct, which carries State Route 520 from the Eastlake/Capitol Hill district to Montlake. Portage Bay was named in 1913 because of the portage across the Montlake Isthmus that used to be necessary to move logs from Union Bay to Lake Union before the construction of the Ship Canal. The bay is home to two yacht clubs, the Seattle and the Queen City, and many houseboats, as well as the Northwest Fisheries Science Center of the National Marine Fisheries Service and the University of Washington's College of Ocean and Fishery Science.

The University of Washington School of Pharmacy was founded in 1894 and included four women in its inaugural class of students. It is one of two PharmD granting institutions within the state of Washington. Offices are located within the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Building on the University of Washington campus. U.S. News & World Report ranked the School of Pharmacy as tied for the ninth best pharmacy school in the United States in 2016.Sean Sullivan became the 9th dean of the school in 2014.As of 2015, the school has 381 PharmD students, 59 PhD students, and 40 Masters of Science students and is 64% female.

The School of Nursing is part of the University of Washington (UW). It offers five degree programs accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education: one bachelors, two masters and two doctoral. As of February 2014, there are "128 tenured faculty, research faculty and instructors; 359 affiliate and clinical faculty; and 10 adjunct faculty"; and "over 650 students, including 400 graduate students".

UW Academy for Young Scholars is an early-college entrance program for 10th graders seeking admission to the University of Washington in Seattle. Founded in 2001, after the creation of Early Entrance Program (EEP), the Robinson Center and the University of Washington Honors Program partnered to create the UW Academy for Young Scholars program. The first class of Academy students enrolled at the University in 2002. Each year in Spring, the program accepts around 35-40 current 10th graders, who upon acceptance skip the last two years of high school to enroll as freshmen at the University of Washington. Admission is competitive and selection is based on high school grades and curriculum, standardized test scores (ACT examination or SAT Reasoning Test), required essays, and teacher recommendations. The UW Academy is not a Running Start program, and Academy students do not earn a high school diploma as a result of fully withdrawing from high school. Students enter the UW Academy through the Bridge Program, which is designed to ease the transition from 10th grade to university. Bridge begins with Academy Camp, an overnight camp where students in the program have a chance to meet with one another, older Academy students, and the staff. During this Bridge Week, student's also attend workshops on college student survival skills. Students in the program begin Fall Quarter with two required Academy courses specially designed for Academy students: an English composition course and a linked seminar. The goal of these courses is to smooth the transition from high school to college and give students an opportunity to bond and develop college-level study skills. Apart from these two required courses, students are free to choose courses that interest them.

Benson Hall is a building in the University of Washington campus. It is home to the chemical engineering department. The building was named after Henry K. Benson, a faculty member from 1904 to 1954. During this time, he held the position of Chair of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Leonard William Bindon and John LeBaron Wright designed Benson Hall.Benson Hall is located along Stevens Way, on the south side of the University of Washington campus. It is southwest of Bagley Hall, southeast of the Chemistry Library, and northwest of the Medicinal Herb Garden. The building itself consists of three above ground floors and a basement. The main floor is home to a computer lab, the main office, a student lounge, a lobby, a research lab, and two classrooms. The second and third floors hold faculty offices, grad student offices, a classroom, and many research laboratories. The basement contains the remainder of the graduate student offices, research laboratories, and the Unit operations lab. Benson Hall is home to the University of Washington student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (UW AIChE). The UW AIChE chapter is responsible for a variety of student events on campus.

The College of Built Environments (CBE) is an academic college at the University of Washington in Seattle. The CBE offers programs in architecture, construction management, landscape architecture, real estate, and urban planning. From 1957 to 2009, it was known as the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP). Today, the College of Built Environments is made up of five core units: Architecture/Architectural Design, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Real Estate, and Urban Design & Planning. It also houses two interdisciplinary Ph.D. degrees, as well as several other interdisciplinary centers and institutes. The 2009 name change reflects an integrated approach to planning, design, and construction that will be necessary to take on the 21st-century global challenges of urbanization and climate change. Renée Cheng is the current dean.

The Last Exit on Brooklyn was a Seattle University District coffeehouse established in 1967 by Irv Cisski. It is known for its part in the history of Seattle's counterculture, for its pioneering role in establishing Seattle's coffee culture, and as a former chess venue frequented by several master players.

The University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) is a hospital in the University District of Seattle, Washington, United States. It is one of the teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine, and is located in the Warren G. Magnuson Health Sciences Center. The UWMC opened on May 5, 1959, having grown out of the medical school that the university opened in 1946. It was home to the world's first pain center and also the location of the world's first long-term kidney dialysis, developed by UW professor Belding H. Scribner, M.D. Since the addition of the eight-story Montlake Tower to the complex in September 2012 at a cost of $210 million, the UWMC has had more than 570 beds available for patients' use. The 2007 issue of U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" ranked the UWMC 10th out of over 5,000 hospitals nationwide. Many UWMC programs score highly in specialty rankings, such as primary care, rehabilitation medicine, and neurology/neurosurgery.In May 2013, it was announced that UW Medicine, which owns and operates the UWMC, and PeaceHealth would join forces with one another in a "strategic affiliation." The American Civil Liberties Union criticized the merger, due to PeaceHealth being "directed by the Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives."
