Abberley

Abberley Clock Tower is a prominent, distinctive clock tower in Abberley, Worcestershire, England. Built by James Piers St Aubyn around 1883 for Abberley Hall it is now part of Abberley Hall School. It is a Grade II* listed building and claimed to be visible from six counties.

Abberley Hall is a country house in the north-west of the county of Worcestershire, England. The present Italianate house is the work of Samuel Daukes and dates from 1846 to 1849. Since 1916 it has been occupied by Abberley Hall School. It is a Grade II* listed building. The gardens are listed as Grade II on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. In the area close to Stourport-on-Severn there are several large manor and country houses, among which Witley Court, Astley Hall, Pool House, Areley Hall, Hartlebury Castle and Abberley Hall (including Abberley Clock Tower) are particularly significant.

Abberley Hall School was a coeducational preparatory day and boarding school with about 160 pupils. It was located between Worcester and Tenbury, near the village of Abberley, Worcestershire, England.

Woodbury Hill is a hill near the village of Great Witley, about 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire, England. It is the site of an Iron Age hillfort.

Great Witley is a village and civil parish (with Hillhampton), in the Malvern Hills District in the northwest of the county of Worcestershire, England. It is situated around ten miles to the north west of the city of Worcester.

The Elms Hotel in Abberley, Worcestershire is a building of historical significance and is Grade II listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built in 1710 by the architect Thomas White (1674-1748) of Worcester who was a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren. It was the home of several notable families over the next two centuries and is now a hotel.

Witley Court, Great Witley, Worcestershire, England is a ruined Italianate mansion. Built for the Foleys in the seventeenth century on the site of a former manor house, it was enormously expanded in the early nineteenth century by the architect John Nash for Thomas Foley, 3rd Baron Foley. The estate was later sold to the Earls of Dudley, who undertook a second massive reconstruction in the mid-19th century, employing the architect Samuel Daukes to create one of the great palaces of Victorian and Edwardian England. The declining fortune of the Dudleys saw the sale of the court after the First World War to a Kidderminster carpet manufacturer. In 1937 a major fire caused great damage to the court, the estate was broken up and sold and the house was subsequently stripped of its fittings and furnishings. Forty years of decay followed before the house and grounds were taken into the care of The Department of the Environment in 1972. Since that point, significant restoration and stabilisation have secured the house as a spectacular ruin. Witley Court, and the attached Church of St Michael and All Angels, are both Grade I listed buildings

Hillhampton is a hamlet and civil parish (with Great Witley) nestled between Great Witley, Little Witley and Shrawley in the Malvern Hills district of the county of Worcestershire, England. It was anciently a detached hamlet of the parish of Martley. Hillhampton was in the upper division of Doddingtree Hundred.

Astley Priory was a Benedictine priory in Astley, Worcestershire, England.It was founded in the 11th century, probably by Ralph de Todeni, as a cell subject to the abbey of St. Taurinus, Evreux, in France. Around 1300 the priory acquired Astley church, but in 1384 was bought by Sir John Beaumont, an esquire of the chamber, and its use for religious purposes came to an end. When John Beaumont was attainted in 1386, his lands were forfeit and Astley passed to Thomas de Beauchamp, 12th Earl of Warwick. In 1414 the priory was again confiscated by the crown as an alien monastery. In 1468, King Edward IV, at the request of the Archbishop of Canterbury, donated the priory or manor of Astley in perpetuity to the dean and college of Holy Trinity, Westbury-on-Trym, Gloucestershire. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538 it was granted by King Henry VIII to Sir Ralph Sadleir. The only visible remains of the priory today are the Prior's Well, near the entrance of the St Peter's churchyard and a fragment of walling at the east end of the churchyard.

Rock is a village and civil parish in the Wyre Forest District of Worcestershire, England, which lies south-west of Bewdley. It had a population of 2,366 in 2001.In the parish is Fingerpost, the junction of the A456 and A4117 roads. The parish council erected a large commemorative stone near the junction for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.The Church of St Peter and St Paul contains a number of Herefordshire School Romanesque carvings. The local church has a major congregation, and the village hall always has local events taking place from wedding functions to the Rock Show. The Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre provides secondary education for pupils from the area.

Pensax is a village and civil parish of northwest Worcestershire in England, incorporating the hamlet of Menithwood to the west of Pensax Common. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 317.Pensax borders the parishes of Stockton-on-Teme, Abberley, Rock and Lindridge. It is home to a multiple CAMRA award-winning pub, 'The Bell', which won 'West Midlands Pub of The Year' in 2007. Besides The Bell, Pensax is home to a parish church (dedicated to St. James the Great) built 1832 and a small village hall. A local primary school, Pensax Church of England school, closed in 2003.

Rock moated site and medieval village is an archaeological site, including a deserted medieval village, in Worcestershire, England, near the village of Rock and about 4 miles (6.4 km) south-west of Bewdley. It is a Scheduled Monument.
