Rock, Worcestershire

Rock moated site and medieval village is an archaeological site, including a deserted medieval village, in Worcestershire, England, near the village of Rock and about 4 miles (6.4 km) south-west of Bewdley. It is a Scheduled Monument.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is an Anglican church in the village of Rock, in Worcestershire, England. It is in the parish of Rock with Heightington, in the Diocese of Worcester. The building is Grade I listed; the north door and chancel arch are notable features dating from the 12th century.

Fingerpost is a hamlet and road junction in north Worcestershire, England, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Bewdley. It is located at the junction of the A456 and A4117 roads, on the edge of the Wyre Forest and is named for a notable fingerpost that once existed at this historic junction. Fingerpost is in the civil parish of Rock and the Wyre Forest District. The parish council erected a large commemorative stone near the Fingerpost junction for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.Further along the A4117 is Far Forest, beyond which is Shropshire.

Pensax is a village and civil parish of northwest Worcestershire in England, incorporating the hamlet of Menithwood to the west of Pensax Common. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 317.Pensax borders the parishes of Stockton-on-Teme, Abberley, Rock and Lindridge. It is home to a multiple CAMRA award-winning pub, 'The Bell', which won 'West Midlands Pub of The Year' in 2007. Besides The Bell, Pensax is home to a parish church (dedicated to St. James the Great) built 1832 and a small village hall. A local primary school, Pensax Church of England school, closed in 2003.

Clows Top lies on the A456 road between Newnham Bridge and Bewdley and on the B4202 between Mawley Oak and Abberley. The border between the districts of Malvern Hills and Wyre Forest runs through the settlement; Clows Top also includes the tripoint of the civil parishes of Mamble, Bayton and Rock. The summit of the hill reaches an elevation of 231 metres (758 ft).Hunthouse Wood, a nature reserve of the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, is near the village.

Far Forest is a small village in north Worcestershire, England, approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) west of Bewdley, and next to the border with Shropshire. It is on the A4117 road, on the edge of the Wyre Forest near Fingerpost.Far Forest is in the Wyre Forest District. There is a public house, the Plough Inn, a primary school, a shop with a post office, and two churches: one Baptist, and one Anglican, called Holy Trinity Church. The R&B Travel 292 bus service (Ludlow–Bewdley–Kidderminster) provides regular public buses from Monday to Saturday.There is also a primary school called Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary School with around 121 students.Mary Whitehouse, the tv/radio clean-up campaigner, founder of Mediawatch UK, and her husband lived at Far Forest early in the 1970s. She later alleged they were forced to move away after opponent protestors tracked her down and picketed their home.

The Elms Hotel in Abberley, Worcestershire is a building of historical significance and is Grade II listed on the English Heritage Register. It was built in 1710 by the architect Thomas White (1674-1748) of Worcester who was a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren. It was the home of several notable families over the next two centuries and is now a hotel.

Abberley Clock Tower is a prominent, distinctive clock tower in Abberley, Worcestershire, England. Built by James Piers St Aubyn around 1883 for Abberley Hall it is now part of Abberley Hall School. It is a Grade II* listed building and claimed to be visible from six counties.

Wyre Forest railway station was a station to the north of Far Forest, Worcestershire, England. The station which served the Wyre Forest was opened in 1869 and closed in 1962. Although the station was situated on the Tenbury and Bewdley Railway which opened on 1 August 1864, the construction of Wyre Forest Station required the consent of the Office of Woods and Forests. As a result the station did not open until 1 June 1869. The station closed to passenger traffic along with the rest of the Wyre Forest Line on 1 August 1962.

Abberley is a village and civil parish in north west Worcestershire, England. It is situated on the northern slopes of Abberley Hill, which is 283 metres (928 ft) tall, between the River Severn and River Teme. The village had a population of 830 in 2001.

Abberley Hall School was a coeducational preparatory day and boarding school with about 160 pupils. It was located between Worcester and Tenbury, near the village of Abberley, Worcestershire, England.
